So it’s looking like the stage will retain the Mode 7 look.

Is that Wuhu Island?
Im not sure if he’s able to dash and maybe can only slide.
He can definitely dash. You can see it at 4:27 in the Developer Direct Video.

He doesn’t seem particularly fast, but I also don’t think he’ll be that slow either. Maybe in the lower half, though.
Pilotwings Stage! Fuck yeah!
I don’t know why people are expecting Mega Man to be fast. He’s not particularly quick in his own games-- Mega Man moves at a deliberate pace and I expect him to maneuver much the same in Smash.

Yeah. We aren’t talking about X. Bit it would be cool if he gets X’s armor.

If X were here, he would have tried to talk this out. Unfortunately for you, X isn’t here.
Controversial idea: I wonder if they’ll incorporate Pilotwings events into the stage. For example, if you get knocked off the level would you suddenly find yourself doing a parachute minigame? I hope not, but one wonders just how far they’ll take the nostalgia immersion on this level if they’re going far enough to simulate the Mode 7 look.

Got to cut Luigi some slack, haven’t a lot of us have been at that stage of our lives where even the Wii Balance board seems like it is mocking you?
Eh, I found my own exercise program and it has been working out well so far. Working slowly, but it is indeed working and I stick to it fairly consistently. The balance board can take a hike for all I care.
Weird screenshot choice though, considering Nintendo has been on that “year of Luigi” kick and I’d figure they would be more interested in showing him to be a badass. Oh well.
Am I the only one who LOVES the stages that try to kill you? Whether for casual or tournament play the trolling stages that kill both players are always my favorite it adds a unique element of fun not found in other games and adds more pressure to the game. I hope SB 3DS/WiiU have a ton of dangerous stages not like some easy to avoid shit.
Dalga/Palkia stage <3.
You may well be in the minority there. They are, mind you, hilarious in casual play. The stream of cussing that ensues in a ‘family friendly party game’ is pretty funny, and probably contrary to what Nintendo intended. In competition though, I’m not very fond of them.
Dalga/Palkia stage <3.
Fucking THANK YOU. I love the Spear Pillar and was always disappointed to no end when every Smash tournament banned it and the stages like it.
I got soooo tired of fucking Smashville/Final Destination/Battlefield all the damn time…

I don’t like the ones where there is only ones spot or no where to avoid the stage’s hazard. Other then those I don’t mind occasionally dealing with it.

Interesting, this seems to confirm speculation that they’ve made Luigi a little bigger in this installment, he looks to be probably around Peach size in this installment so probably still a bit smaller than the normal human characters in Smash but a fair bit taller than he usually is in crossovers.

Fucking seriously.
All these stages so far look really bland and simple.
I need air-ships shooting at me, giant lasers, stage destruction, interactable traps, stage NPC enemies and/or allies, unique-to-stage items, rising and falling hazards, small platform(s) over a floor of dangerous material, stage movement. Nothing unavoidably control altering though, like the Dalga/Palkia stage.
I don’t mind them catering to the competitive but those guys have always been fine with Final Destination and Battlefield, they don’t need more.
I want a stage where there’s a boss NPC that all the players can attack and be attacked by, and the longer the boss is there, the stronger it gets and the more it changes the stage. It would have be relevant enough to the stage to where you’d want to either kill it for some kind of reward(extra stock? Final Smash?), and you’d be able to ignore it almost completely as long as you aren’t up in it’s face.
I’d suggest a modified Kraid and Brinstar depths.
And I hate to say it but, I really think they should take inspiration from PS Allstars in one aspect.
They should try the combining franchises for certain stages gimmick.
Imagine a stage like F-Zero meets Mario Kart, or Starfox meets Kirby, or Wario Ware and Pokemon, Metroid and Zelda, endless possibilities.
Pic of the day. Here’s the X Bomb from Kid Icarus: Uprising. Not to be mistaken for the one from Meteos.
The Meteos X-Bomb?
I’m amazed they remember that game!
Seriously.

I just hope there’s an equal amount of crazy and balanced. I like my crazy stages as much as the next guy (Spear Pillar is my favorite stage thus far, Big Blue comes in a close 2nd), but I also hope that they give us more balanced stages too. As much as I may like stages with hazards and such, I’d like there to be more than just 6 legal stages in competitive play.
There’s no reason why they can’t appeal to both. :3

Read the post again, not Meteos.
