Chars that can easily be duplicated and added to brawl. the only incentive for me to buy this game are significant engine changes, like a third attack button.
-Sometimes I have to wonder though, how many of us in here play streetfighter with infinite time because and lifebars set 4x their threshold because it seems like a fun thing to do?
-I mean if we are doing all these things for the sake of fun, why aren’t we so adamant to call foul when a nigga gets X factor or groan when someone is rewarded a super meter for getting the shit knocked out of them?
-I don’t think we should be allowing double standards like that. Can’t shun a nigga for wanting to eliminate (enough) randomness and chance In a game they find competitively sound we have fun with skill on skill. niggas talking about smash brothers at my job, asking each other what their favorite item was in brawl.
I said I don’t play with them, it’s almost like the whole store got salty. then someone had the nerve to argue me down as to why turning items off and using peach is unfair. ( Dafuq? I mean seriously…)
-It’s really a serious disconnect in the fanbase, we are playing two completely different games it feels like. And it’s sucks that when it comes to this game and when there are niggas like me that want to play competative end up like a bitch-made stepchild that gets the table scraps of the meal they weren’t invited to.
Man when I made this thread and had fears about the dumb ‘is it a fighter or is it not?’ argument, it had completely slipped my mind about the Brawl vs. Melee argument. Brawl vs. Melee argument isn’t as dumb so much as it is tiresome at times especially when one side starts calling the other side names just because they don’t agree with their opinion in almost same fashion as the prior argument. We can easily have civil conversation about it since it’s is relevant so I’m not going to try to discourage it…just try to not devolve into the Tasmanian Devil please…
He is…negativity is going to rear it’s ugly head regardless until people get their hands on it and even still just the simple fact that he’s not going ‘full Melee’ with the game automatically make it horrible out of the gate for some. The honest thing though is that nobody’s put their hands on it save for the people at Namco and Nintendo so until someone does put some hands on impressions out there or their is irrefutable evidence that the competitive scene can’t have fun with the game for whatever reason then you’re jumping the gun.
I hate everything you like Sonichuman, and I will make baseless remarks to brown beat you into defeat.
I win!
Am I like, the only person here who buys these games for chaotic and light-hearted fun?
I’m all for smash going more towards the fun side than the serious competitive side, because I buy games mostly to have fun. If I ever get a taste for some serious fighting in video games i’ll look to Tekken or Streetfighter, but not Smash.
You’re never gonna get a Melee 2, don’t even ask for it because they’ve made it pretty clear, accept what you do have and if you don’t like it, mod it into something you do like(Project M for example) or stay in the past and keep playing melee.
Breaks my heart seeing people do nothing but play on Final Destination with no items on.
Fox only!
I just wanna talk about Smash Bros. and all the fun shit (however you define fun, whether it be with items, or not) that comes with it… plus dat Mega Man hype without a bunch of wet blankets arguing over semantics…
Starting sound mad “Stop having fun guys” up in here…
I get more value out of my fighting game if it’s still fun wether I’m in a competitive, casual - or any mind state in-between. People are being myopic and patronizing in their thinking when they assume Melee players only approached the game one way. Nintendo is making the same mistake, apparently.
Look, I sympathize with this statement, I really do. I played Melee competitively for six years straight and even endured the horror of early Brawl tournaments that lasted well past 3am because, well, competitive Brawl is the greatest oxymoron outside of smart Microsoft executives…
That said, I also spent time playing Melee with items/non-competitively, and I still had a blast, just as I did playing Brawl the same way. I even find myself wanting to bust out the Wii and hop online for some goofy ass fun with Brawl from time to time and having a hilarious time with it.
One thing I wished the Smash Community had done for Brawl was to at least TRY to play the game wtih items on in tournament like they did back in the early days of Melee. Hell, the only reason the community decided to turn items off in the first place was because of exploding capsules/crates, and those could be turned OFF in Brawl… but it was always shouted down anytime someone would suggest an item tourney… oh well.
So yeah, live and let live… don’t insult each others’ tastes and have a good time!
Smash brothers can be enjoyed as either a competitive game or a party game just like every fighting game in existence. People can buy SF without being seriously committed like the FGC so the same logic follows in smash…why its so black and white to SRKers is beyond me…
Mewtwo was one of my absolute favs. Although he wasn’t in Brawl, Lucario was just as fun. If he does indeed returns, you know they gonna find a way to have that new form thing I know nothing about be apart of it somehow.
Just hope he ends up being top tier this time around. Although I’d still use him anyway.
Buutwo will probably make an appearance in the new Smash instead of Mewtwo.

Im down for that. Kid Buutwo looks sweet.
i think melee can be taken seriously competitively more so than brawl. i mean it has it all skill, mind games, and combos. melee is just as fast and crazy as mvc2. i’m glad that it’s been getting more recognition lately
Going back to music here are some songs I think they should add in:

For what it’s worth, and I admit I’m somewhat invoking strawman argument here… you shouldn’t put too much stock on what Sakurai says in regard to game complexity. What are the odds he’ll seriously go out there and say something like this in an interview? “You know how incredibly arcane fighting games like Guilty Gear and Street Fighter and King of Fighters and Tekken are these days? Well, Smash 4 is going to turn that particular dial up to Eleven. Thousand. Our game is going to be so damn arcane, anyone who is able to play it at high levels will be legally certified as an actual wizard. I don’t mean a stage magician, I mean someone who actually casts magic spells in real life. That’s how inaccessible and complex Smash 4 is going to be.” This would be insane.
I’m mostly tossing that up as an extreme example, mind; I don’t think anyone here was truly wanting to see that particular result… but I leave it there for comparison. When he talks to gaming media, he’s going to give the only response he can give: “We’re going to make this game accessible.” Anything else is setting up barriers to entry and costing them sales. When it comes to giving general-audience interviews like that, this is the only thing you’re going to hear regardless of whether it’s true or not and to what degree it’s true. You don’t want to scare the hell out of your primary audience.
If someone were to interview him for SRK front page, he’d shape his answer for that audience too. I’ll give you great odds he’d say something like: “While we plan to make the game accessible, this does not mean we intend to make it lacking in depth; we appreciate the devoted players who pour in countless hours and a great deal of love to learn everything they can about the game!” That’s probably not what his exact words would be, but I bet it would be in that general ballpark. And why not rephrase it that way for us? It’s possible that it might be true, and even if not he merely has to say it and this reduces the risk of costing the game sales from a ( admittedly niche) demographic.
He’s going to tell the audience what they want to hear, when it comes to question like that. There may well be valid reasons to worry about how Smash 4 will turn out in terms of competitive depth and suitability, but I’m not sure this is one of them.

Legit choices, I just need that brobot type L theme
