Tripping I’ll give you.
Damn bastards flagged me!!!
Ok well brawl isn’t a functionally bad game but compared to is ancestry it’s terrible. I guess what I should say is that it’s sf4 to melee’s sf2.
Welp… insert Dark Knight Joker gif AND HERE WE GO
Might as well get ready to close this thread. The Brawl vs. Melee debate is about to rear its ugly head…
Brawl wasn’t bad, but it feels sluggish when you go play it after playing Melee. And tripping. Tripping is such a piece of shit mechanic.
I didn’t bring it up, but I’m sorry I contributed. I’d prefer to talk about speculation for the new game anyway.
Yeah let’s not start this please.
Already addressed that. Serious competitive play is all that effects. We all had and still have fun playing this game. There’s more to this game’s goal than satisfying SRK/Smash boards fans. The 11 Million people that bought Brawl aren’t all attending EVO. The competitive scene is large, but nowhere near the scope of all the buyers who buy these games, and Wii U’s. Wii’s and Wii U’s were sold and being sold now for CASUAL HERP DERP play. Mario kart and shit. Not SERIOUS STREET FIGHTER DUECE ULZTRA BALANCE 2.1 on GGPO.
Nintendo wants the masses MONEY. So that means appealing to the MASSES. Shit is simple.
Now can we please move on?
Ok sorry guys ill drop it…I’ll admit I don’t have the emotional stability to handle that discussion without it getting personal and ugly so ill leave it alone. I just ask no one bring up melee or make a jab at it cause I can’t promise ill be able to control myself.
Lol Duly noted. I mean no harm. I loved Melee, and miss Mewtwo deeply. My love runneth over.
Speaking of Mewtwo (sorry if this was already posted);
I hope so, Mewtwo may have not been that great in Melee but he was a very unique character. Hope Mewtwo and Lucario can both be in Smash 4, though I doubt it.
My flag was accidental. Just putting that out there.
Having owned Melee and Brawl, I liked the former more. Brawl was good, but the SP experience just wasn’t as fun. I am hype as hell to play Smash on my 3DS.
Is there even a debate as to which Smash is better? Neither can be taken seriously as a tournament-caliber game, but one is fun and the other isn’t.
It begins…
Gonna point out that just because the game can be competitive doesn’t mean that it ruins your experience with the game. The masses largely won’t even know about half of the mechanics they even put in there, so why should you be so against it? Did your friends find out about FRCs in GG and never played it again? Did your friends find out about harder combos and never played street fighter again? I question how one persons experience can ruin someone elses. If you want to have fun, have fun. Absolutely no one is stopping you. But, if you want to play one on one competitive, there actually is someone actively trying to stop people from doing that, and his name is Sakurai.
I thought Nintendo would be more open arms to people that enjoy their games then this to be honest, but they outright alienate them every time. Makes me feel kind of bad.
I thought Sakurai was just going to find a balance between those two communities this time.
As frustrating as it gets, it won’t stop the community, We won’t experience anything worse than meta knight I’m sure.
Fun story.
When I was like 11 years old, this friend of the family owned an SNES and we played KI against each other. I eventually got my own SNES and figured out this baller combo with Combo and actually taught myself overheads/lows that could set it up and challenged him. He ended up getting so ripshit mad he never played with me again because “it isn’t fun to lose to the same move over and over”.
Me being an impressionable tween thought he was right and I never pushed my limit in a fighting game until almost 10 years later.
Just putting this out there, if you dont like 4 you could always play melee, that way you dont even have to complain. Me, I am just gonna enjoy megaman, villager, and the other new chars.
