Super Smash Bros. General - Patience and Spacing....or Whine and Moan

I’d like to reiterate that the debate only exists in terms of competition. If you’re just drunk with your buddies or whatever go nuts.

Well,

You can’t spell “Fun” without “F-U”

So pepper you anus and take that star rod to the face.

Me too, both formats test a player’s skill and are fun in their own way there is no reason the two can’t happily coexist and anyone who starts shit about one format being superior to another will get the ban hammer.

I forgot about doubles man that will be our third format and I’m sure there will be others oh man I’m already hype!

I’m fairly certain that there are tournaments for everything I listed. Diff’rent Strokes, Diff’rent folks

I know it’s very feel good to say stuff like this but c’mon a mode where anything can happen at any timr with no way to prepare? How is that competitive?

The adaptable survive

Didn’t play enough of 64 to have a favorite
Melee - Big Blue, Kongo Jungle(DK Rap), Mute City, Jungle Japes
Brawl - Wario Ware(really fun and unique, and all of the randomness mixed with a tiny bit of skill and sabotage, very fun), Lylat Cruise(very beautiful background, simple stage), Port town(That F-Zero music is just godlike, and I really liked Mute City)

I sincerely hope they let you have to option to have free reign over menu and stage music selection, unlike Brawl where you had to have certain songs on stages. I’d be fine with a suggested list for each stage and menu, but I’d still want to be able to have whatever I want play where ever I want.

And by that, I mean I want to have Shotgun Kiss(most all of the other F-Zero GX songs) play on every fucking menu, and on every fucking stage.

God damn that song is good.

Fixed it for you.

There’s nothing wrong with being a Nevermind.

Who cares. It’s fun!

Competitive? Fuck that shit. Unless there is mad money on the line its all for fun.

I’m not the biggest item guy myself, but I have been playing Smash all my life(as many of you may be) and to just write off an entire chunk of the game like that as uncompetitive and random is limiting it’s potential.

Look, are drops random? Yes. Do they wildly vary in power? Yes. But items are not as great an equalizer as you say and a skilled player beats an unskilled player regardless of items. I am a skilled player compared to my friends, and they beat me with items. However, more often than not, I beat them handily because they can’t use items the way I can. People write them off as gimmicky and turn them off, but if someone takes time to practice with each item, both attacking and defending, it’s the same as being skilled in other areas. Almost every item has measures and countermeasures to balance their power. Even items that appear to be equalizers aren’t THAT strong. Any throwing item can be caught. Any item you can just throw at the ground to use or just pick up to activate comes with it’s own footsie rules, but it rarely will it totally overhaul the entire match. I’m not gonna pretend the Timer and the Lightning or Final Smashes and Heart Containers aren’t game changes. They are, they dynamically shift the way one approaches a matchup. But they are temporary and a single hammer won’t close the gap enough from that 0-60%/death Falco that has been outplaying you every step of the way.

Items serve the same role as X-Factor in UMVC3. A comeback factor to work around, or if you’re adept at using it, a valuable tool in your arsenal. The only difference is the random nature of items(randomness we can adjust I might add), and in a way, that makes them fair. In Marvel, no one cares as much about Viewtiful Joe in XF3 as a Doctor Doom or Vergil because each can use X-Factor differently, even though it’s universal. Final Smashes may differ, but a Kirby throwing a pokeball is just as deadly as Little Mac or Link.

I’m telling you…just put items on very low that way there aren’t a billion of them on the ground and it keeps most of the random factor that I keep hearing complaints over very low.

To sumarize:

Still a chance of explosive box slaying you with descrimination.

I said very low not complete erasure of. I’m one of the people that when I play smash with items on I try to keep a listen out for everything including the person. I don’t find it any different than being aware of where the edge is in something like Soul Calibur. Sometimes you’re going to knocked off the stage no matter how hard you try to prevent yourself from doing so but the more you’re aware of it, then the less it will happen. Maybe I just haven’t had as much bad luck with a random explosive popping up right in the middle of an attack with someone I’m fighting as much as you guys have…which is crazy because as Sonic you’re running all over the damn place.

An aside from the items talk.

I hope this track makes a return

And after listening to A Link Between Worlds OST I’m hoping for some rearrangement on Lorule Castle

They’re 5 different pass throughs on the theme and each time they add more to it and make it more grand and epic right up and until they add REDACTED’s theme into the mix. I suppose listening to the final 2 pass throughs of the game would be slightly spoilery for those who haven’t played the game.

I wonder if Nintendo will have online for the 3DS version or am I gonna have to run to my buddies house to play… hope they don’t drop the ball for that portion of the game .

If you’re trying to argue for the merits of items competitively, then comparing them to X-Factor isn’t really the best place to start.

You all suck for arguing about items again.

Btw Diddy got revealed.
