How you gonna forget the best Brawl stage ever-
SPEAR PILLAR***
Best 64 stage was Dream Land by far.
My favorite Melee stages were Hyrule Temple, Fountain of Dreams, and Big Blue.
Brawl had so many good stages, but if I had to pick three I’d go with Halberd, Spear Pillar, and Frigate Orpheon.
So I like Kirby stages, apparently.
Best N64 stage was SectorZ
Best Melee stage was…Pkmn stadium
Best brawl stage was a tie between Halberd and Plaza.
N64= Dreamland
Melee= Brinstar (because of the music), Fourside, and Mushroom Kingdom
Brawl= 75m
Fourside in giant mode with items set to maximum and only super mushrooms turned on was amazing.
N64 - Hyrule Castle, Dreamland
Melee - Great Bay, Hyrule Temple
Brawl - Spear Pillar, Pirate Ship
Just in case it isn’t already obvious when we start the SRK smash clan this year (fingers cross c’mon Sakurai!), almost every stage and item will be in play, so I don’t want us having to turn into smashboards and argue about this shit all day instead of playing the damn game.
Stage hazard would be a giant block when hit yells CHANCE TIME!
And well… You can imagine what happens…all your damage gets sent to another player. Let the butthurt commence!
As long as Luigi can win by doing absolutely nothing, I’m down.
No man, the Mario Party stage is just like Final Destination, except the person who earns the mini-game star is the actual winner instead of who did the best
Pokemon Competitive Thread 2.0 GO!
But the exact same problems with items and stages are still there. The items drop at random with no rhyme or reason and some stages have hazards that kill way too easily and have no predictable pattern. Stages with walls and ceilings tend only benefit one type of character and walk offs also tend to favor whoever has a strong side throw much too heavily.
Sounds good to me and probably the vast majority of SRK’ers, you don’t like it well then don’t play with us lol. We had an open anything goes format with Brawl and that was some of the most fun I’ve ever had with video games ever, and hopefully this time you guys stick with it and don’t get bored of Smash a year after launch :mad:
I have no interest or knowledge of anything Pokemon related (unless an ARPG is announced lol) , but I respect the open format you guys promote how is it going are you guys raging rivers of salt missing the strict limitations or having fun and evolving as players?
We shouldn’t try forcing each other’s playstyles onto each other despite me being 100% on having everything open. If need be we can do 2 different leagues for those who want to have fox only, final destination and for those who believe variety is the spice of life. I believe everyone should be able to play the game they want to play it without giving the other side shit over it…this was the same problem that happened with Brawl.
I thought it was a given we would have a “fox only” SRK clan. I’m just saying with all the new stuff available we should have a clan in place where anything goes and the players themselves can come to an agreement on what the rules/settings will be. Setting up tournaments for both leagues and then having the winners of those tournaments play in a finals hybrid tournament kind of like what Capcom did with their 25th anniversary last year would be hype maybe we can even have someone stream it?
Fuck it I’ll still play in both, it don’t make me no nevermind.

I’m just saying as a competitive game having so many random elements turned on works against you. I suppose there’s 2 ways to look at Smash as a game and as a competitive game. Brawl was nice as a game but the system was a joke for competition. Item matches are fun and all in the same way Mario Party is fun. There’s some skill but if you win or lose it’s mostly luck.

Definitely never gonna tell people how to play but a tournament with 4 player FFAs and every item and stage is like featuring Mario Party 9 at a tournament.

I’m not a “fox only” player. I like the idea of playing on more stages that have effects but only effects that a player can study and know in advance that don’t kill at low percents but there’s a degree of craziness that can be taken before you may as well drop the controllers and flip a coin to decide on the winner.
Just to clarify, I like fucking around on silly stages going super sonic and beating people with beam swords and bombs but for a competition people put real money down to enter it’s just unacceptable.
Ye olde skill vs fun matchup. I guess you’ll just have to ask what people want to do when you play them.
If nothing else, the first few couple of weeks should exclusively be everything open regardless of what anyone says. Gotta test the waters and whatnot.
If it’s really a big deal, just divide it up into 5 groups of the clan: Foxes(1v1 no items select stages), Tossers(for people who like throwing whatever item drops), Shippers(When people like to pair up two characters), Dirty Shippers(Pairs with toys to hit each other with), and Eyes Wide Shut(Anything goes)
Oh, and incase anyone is interested, my stance on the whole ‘Fox only Final Destination’ vs ‘Mario Party with fists’, I’m firmly in the ‘I just like playing the game’ camp.
I mean I expect (as with every smash game) to play with items for the first few weeks. But then ima turn them shits off eventually like ive been doing for more than a decade.
I’m also in for doubles.
That’s my strongsuit.
