Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Wii are very amused

I don’t think an arcade stick would work since it lacks analog. How would you do smashes without analog? (Assuming you’re using the gamecube ports for the stick, it’ll require analog input for smashes. I think only the wii-mote alone option will lag analog, but I doubt you’ll be able to wire up a stick so the Wii thinks it’s a wii-mote.)

…seriously.

Wavebirds have a a few milliseconds of lag, which sucks for a fastpaced game, trust me.

Ah. Well, I have my regular cube controllers too, so I can just give those Wavebirds to buddies to play with.

…gotta use the force then.

So umm, when is the “new” E3

GC Controller, plz. I’ll be damned if I’m swinging a fucking stick as I play a fighting game, GTFO.

I don’t know why anyone would want to play this with anything but a gamecube controller… /boggle

I, too, will be using a GC controller. That said, I do wonder how the Wiimote control types will work.

Falcon Punch!

I might try out the Classic, but I’ll probably use GC.

I’ll be sticking with my GC controller, and by the time the game comes out I’ll probably have mine painted sexy pink or something (I hope to god I can dabble some glitter in there)

Also, for anyone who cares, I am writing the Link Sub-Wiki for SSBM, in a few days it’ll be done with some practical tactics, combos, advanced techniques, ect.

There’s what I’ve got so far

I’m leaning towards the Gamecube controller but I’ll give the Wii controllers a shot and see what works better for me.

Classic controller ftw.

Updates are really minor stuff thus far IMO, but since they’re daily, better the little stuff than none at all.

Eh? I’m gonna give the Wiimote a shot personally. If that doesn’t work out then probably the classic controller.

hay guy you need moar stuff liek this:

start match with illusion grab ( Ax5 or so ) just frame grab into c-stick up, U-tilt, short hop U-air
midmatch do stuff like:
grab, back c-stick, shffl b-air, reverse grab, c-stick down, d-smash, shffl b-air, reverse grab, d-smash, shffl b-air
late into the match try and land:
dash a, shffl b-air, d-smash, f-tilt, shffl f-air, side-b, j. n-air - this will kill them
edgeguarding with boomerang, bomb and the last hit of spinny slash being a d-spike is important too

Can someone explain why the hell you’d want the Classic controller over the Gamecube controller? Have you people played SSBM? The controller is perfect.

Here is the winning strat with Wii-mote:

  1. Whack your opponent in the face.
  2. Claim you were trying to do a SMASH! attack.
  3. Profit. No question about it.

This control scheme actually works out pretty well for me because I have 3 GC controllers and one Classic.

I can totally see that happening.

Just getting the basics down first, also why not help me out with writing this? Also that last combo seems way too iffy, at a high percent d-smash seems like it would knock the opponent too high up, and f-smash after that? The second combo is just reverse grabbing

You really just can’t rely too heavily on combos in smash, instead you have to rely on what can extend your combo chances, so I’m currently just posting the ones that are sure to work. People really need to just think what works best for them

yeah as far as combos go in smash…most of the time the work but they are something like this:

use X attack, follow up with Y attack, if opponent DIs direction A then repeat Y attack, if opponent DIs direction B then use attack Z

following attack Y: use attack X, if they DI in direction A or B use a finisher move, if they DI in direction C follow up with attack Q
following attack Z: use attack G, grab, throw, if they DI…

and so on and so on

… cuz people might like the classic controller over the GC one?
