Does this thread have to become about Smash’s relevance in the fighting game world? Really? I know we’re starved for news, but this can only end badly.
Smash is an awesome game. But it’s not like it’s somehow special compared to all the other great games out there.
The game is fun to these people, they are having fun doing it, they are ignorant. Sums up everything basically.
He only posted the pros of Smash, not the cons, nor the pros of other games. (Well, mostly anyway). That wasn’t his point at all, and at least he had one~!
Why is this kind of argument even happening?
IF you like Smash as a deep fighting game, fine. If you just like it as a fun game to play with your friends, also fine. Why can’t it just end there?
Well if you are REALLY BORED waiting for news we are still writing outros for characters in the SRK Battle Poll, we only have about 30 left to go ha ha! Anyway, the outros I did for The Godfather and Solid Snake on the link below are Brawl themed. Again, if you are REALLY BORED…

I went to smash boards’ Brawl forum and I can’t seem to find anything remotely useful. Nothing related to a release date or anything. The official website doesnt’ even mention anything about a release date. :\

*Terms of Victory:taking damage doesn’t=win as much as it “taking damage=easier to win by knocking out of the arena”. So its much more dynamic. You have to take damage AND knock them off the stage.
No. It allows top tiers to pull stupid bullshit making the game unbalanced.
DI.What is it the top tiers have that is so unbalenced
*Recovery/Edgeguard: When your off the stage you have get get back on while fighting in mid air.Edgeguarding is the same thing but the other way around. You have to stop them from getting on the stage while keeping yourself from being edgeguarded.
Edgeguarding is good stuff. I’ll leave it at that I guess
There are ways to complicate edgeguard look up some samus vids…
*Block is toned down:You can’t just turtle in this game with block(it gets worst as the shield is damaged more).But there are tactics that make using the block instumental like shield grabing and b out of shield attacks,jump out of shield and one that I can do powershield into WD.
I also like the options out of shield
*Zoning -This alone is EXTREMELY advanced.You have moves that can be beat at certian angles and ranges. By using the WD this gets VERY complex(luigi).combos can be extended with WD and you can hover around thier max range just to bait them into whiffing.You can WD back and setup a SHFFLer with a shieldgrab or WD+spotdodge nullify most projectiles(I said most not all). You have to play CPUs to find at what angles do attacks get beat and how to WD into position to beat it (like luigi can WD under doc and Uair his Fair and beat it clean or Cyclone on top of a pill to beat the pill and hit doc or green missile at a precise lower angle compared to the projectile and he goes .)
Look at it from the other side. Smash is very loose in it’s movement, so you can get away with a lot
**nahh more like you get get better angles for poor priority moves or beat higher priority moves at angles advantagious to your hitbox.The more fluid movement makes priority move about angles and positioning and less about spam X attack and time it right **

I have no idea what point RedPhase was trying to make and somewhere in that mess I can’t really tell who’s being quoted so I’m not going to try to make any sense out of it.
I’ve been arguing this point around here for years and I’ve never been able to articulate it with that kind of eloquence.

If it wasn’t for the random exploding capsules then items would be in tournaments.
Quite possibly, though I’m sure a distinct dichotomy would have been created within the community regardless, had items played out to be tournament friendly – different tastes and all.
For a long time there actually was a fierce East (pro-items) vs. West (anti-items) coast conflict before the community ultimately decided to move towards a no-item tourny enviroment.
Despite what ignorant people here try to argue, the Smash community tried hard to make items work for them.

Random exploding items did piss me off. It’s annoying to get killed by a random exploding container when the match is getting very close. I normally play with items when we all feel like messing around.
As for news about the new game, wtf is it? :? Arg.
What I hate next to that is accidentally grabbing/hitting an item in the middle of a combo or shuffle melee. Nothing like grabbing a item then getting a CF knee in the face. :tdown:
