Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Wii are very amused

Fox looks great, as do most of the character models (I’m looking at you Zamus).

New Stages Noticed:

Mario Kart
We saw more of Snakes level, which seems to be based off the first area of Solid 1 (the bottom floor, and even the outside + snow and search lights).
Pit’s Stage (which looks awesome. really liking the statues holding up the platforms)
Yoshi’s Stage (alot of the stages do nothing for me btw, all old, rehash’s)
Etc.

And Fox’s stage looks awesome. Mutherfuckers in SPACE.

Man I love Snake’s attacks with his RPG and kicking volleys- same for Spamus, and Metaknight does look hella broken with his 1 frame slashes… Then again folks remember the main purpose of Smash… to HIT PEOPLE OFF THE STAGE! And so far Metaknight hasn’t been seen doing that, so this might be an intentional balancing factor.

Even so, if you’re playing with items or a stage with hazards, or a multiplayer stock match, just doing the damage is enough, and someone/something/some item else will KO them.

Yeah yeah I know, competative SSBM players don’t user items or 80% of the stages. But who knows what the SSBB competative scene will decide?

On a side note, I have to lol at the people who say SSBM was MEANT to be played with wave-dashes, L-cancels, SHFFL, etc. so they shouldn’t be taken out, and then turn around and turn off all items and almost all the stages…Yeah buddy, that’s how the developers meant you to play it .

…seriously.

^ The devs were aware of wave dashes and L-cancels, though.

Not that I’d care if they stay in Brawl or are removed, but the devs did intend them.

I’m not saying they didn’t or that they should be taken out.

But they also intended all those items and stages, so it’s bad rationale, that’s all.

…seriously.

Meta Knight looks so badass. He looks like he has chain combos. I wonder what his smash attacks are like though. Looks like we finally get a first look at Snake’s moves. Fox is really detailed and has a new stance. Hopefully they tone him down. It looks like he’s always holding his blaster now. Does that mean he’ll have more that use it?

SF2 developers also intended Akuma and Ult.Rugal/Shin Akuma in CVS2 console but those were regulated the same way.

Trust me, once you take your mind out of the “fun/ party” aspect and you actually try to win you realize how annoying items and/or stages that can be abused by a certain character is. I’ve played nearly every configuration of the series from SSB64 to SSBM to at least make informed reason of what works best.

Especially when you’re in the middle of winning and an explosive item appears and you press “A” when you were trying to attack or your opponent gets an item and comes back to win solely because of the randomness of that event.

…Seriously I know where you’re coming from, and I don’t think there’s a “wrong” way to play Smash, because they give you options to play anyways you choose. But to play competitively you need some restrictions for viable all-skill-no-luck play.

Z-cancelling existed since SSB64 and Wavedashing was even coined by the developers as a viable tool before the Melee was released. And I think it is much more challenging to ban a special movement that anyone can learn than simply turning off items. That’s like trying to control how many roll cancels a player can do in a match.

Basically what I am saying is that the MYRIAD of options Hal gave us use to customize shows that they knew the different potentials the game had and the audiences it would appeal to. Think of it as the videogame version of the movie Shrek, fun for kids because of the colors and flashes but older folks can appreciate the deeper content the kids are oblivious to.

Whoops, my bad. I misread. I’m kinda low on sleep and food energy right now.

The trailer was hotness, but Fox was anti-climatic. Boo. BRING ME PICHU. … or Sonic. You show Sonic, you got one bad-ass trailer, I guaran-damn tee.

The only thing you mentioned in that paragraph that wasn’t actually programed into the game by the developers is wavedashing.

Nice try though.

SRK is as ignorant and ethnocentric as ever it seems.

edit

Also, a tester discovered WDing before the game was released. HAL knew this, and left it in. Do the math. I’m sure they didn’t forsee how far players would come with the technique, but the point stands.

Fox’s new stance is fucking badass.

And competitive Smash is boring as fuck for me; I hate playing without items/certain stages.

no…mewtwo?

Just saw the vid quiche posted up, & it looks badass. I’m hyped. :looney:

I just noticed something very interesting, the juggle system is reminiscent of Super Smash Bros. 64. Very Cool.

Hopefully the juggle system isn’t as broken as SSB64 though.

GOD, I’m sick of all these goddamned haters bitching about not wanting Sonic in this game! Everywhere I go, I always see somebody saying some retarded ass comments about the series getting too full of third-party characters! Oh, you mean SNAKE? He’s the ONLY third party character in the game (so far)!

Oh, and there’s the idiots who are talking as if they know EXACTLY how Sonic would play in the game, constantly bitching about how cheap he is!

“He’s too fast!”

“You can’t hurt him when he jumps!”

“I need a diaper change!”

These people need to shut the hell up and let it happen, because most likely, Sonic will be in the game. Yuji Naka said that he’d like to see it happen back when Melee was released (even though he’s no longer part of Sonic Team). Hell, Miyamoto himself said that he loves the idea!

I’m just waiting for a future trailer to reveal him at the end, just like they did with Snake and Fox.

I don’t really mind if Sonic is in the game but it does get annoying to hear all this “Fuck Sonic!” or “Snake is already one too many third party characters.”

In all honesty, if these people hate Sonic so damn much, wouldn’t a few hours in Training Mode with a Sonic practice dummy be the perfect way to relieve their animosity?

The SSb64 system is not really broken… just different.

At this point you kind of have to be retarted to not realize that Sonic has the best chance of getting into this game than any other Third Party character. The only thing that can really mess things up is if both Sega and Nintendo have a breakdown in negotiations.
