Unfortunately, Startropics and Zoda’s Revenge: Startropics II were never released in Japan. Though the last Smash Bros (and this one apparently with Lucas) have Japan-only characters, I’m not so sure that we’re gonna get North America-exclusive characters. So that’s a knock against Mike Jones, Little Mac, and the Elite Beat Agents :sad:.
At least Punchout! (featuring Mr. Dream) finally made it to Japan in Animal Crossing (and later the Wii VC.) They never got any of the arcade Punchout!s or the SNES Super Punchout!.

And to be fair, they’ve incorporated USA Super Mario 2 characters into stuff before, so why can’t they give Lil’ Mac some love.

First off…i’d like to say that this update has now put this game on…some kind of different level now. 2 players!? adventure mode!? reminiscent of the 2 player gameplay that was in kirby super star/kirby’s dreamland 3? and the ability to possibly turn into a super sa…i mean gain levels!? They even got a fuckin map as if it wasn’t even a fighting/party game. What kind of genre does this game fall into now!? oh ho ho man…i’m already day dreaming about the different possibilities of plundering and pillaging that me and one of my friends will do on some of these stages. Can finally do some of that Samus and Snake action and have them go at it together and kick ass! Maybe have a team of Falcons and sandwich some poor soul with the double knees of justice!? Boss Fights had better bring the arpe…that’s all i gotta say. I’m hoping for a situation where they throw enemy after enemy at you and it seems like it will never end and both you and your friend have to do some major ass kicking to stay alive…and throw in Burly Brawl music just for good measure to make it even more epic.
I agree with what Rexx said…The one way this could get better was if they made it wifi…that would be waaayyy too good…and I’m still happy fox got the Landmaster…least strongest update for me was the excite bike and lakitu update but overall was just teaming with awesomeness back to back…now i’m worried about next week…we’re gonna have to balance this out X.X.

Seriously though, thats a pretty cool feature to add onto the adventure mode campaign. So, we have branching decisions, two player co-op, and boss fights in adventure mode, thats too good. And hey, now we know where Mario got knocked out to.
…lil mac better not be a fucking 8-bit assist trophy…I just came to mind, and I really don’t want to see that. Adventure makes this game so much more interesting…I’m glad I reserved it even though I’ve been too damn lazy to just buy I wii…I’ll do it pre-November though to avoid being assed out.

Eh I think Luigi will be in, I don’t see why they’d cut him out. Just expect him to get his vacuum most likely, since they changed Mario with Fludd
I’m sure he will be kinda slow (and thus end up being low tier) because Nintendo has shown repeatedly that they have NO CLUE on how to balance the game because they don’t even understand their own gameplay system.
In every single game the God tier and top tiers have always been composed almost completely out of the fastest characters. The only reason Fox wasn’t THAT good in Smash 64 was because he was slower than Pikachu and he was REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLY weak (as in, he had almost no smash attacks worth a crap at ALL). So Nintendo’s response was to make him even FASTER in Melee and give him some of the best spikes in the game–making him so good that he single-handedly makes half the cast unplayable at a serious level. Good fucking job, Nintendo.
My early prediction is that half the new characters will be worthless because of Zero Suit Samus alone.
Also, it’s a shame that as much effort they’re putting into the Final Smashes, we’ll never see them in serious play because the dumbass tournament Smash community is just going to ban items again.

Judging from the recent Snake Video the hit detection is wierd as hell…its like they freeze when they get hit and snake’s three punch combo knocking mario off the stage?hmm maybe its just for show…true about everything you said shiki about the game being unbalanced…Falco,Fox, and Marth rape over half the cast…true…
