When a half second of lag can be the difference between a headshot and your target getting away only to resurface later causing your demise, I can safely say that both genres of twitch shooters and fighters both require a good deal of precision online. And, like anything else, if you think it sucks enough that it’s bringing your game experience down, don’t use it.

1/2 second and 1/60 second are two very different totals, especially when FPS has splash zones of attack to make up for the lag factor. The point is, in high level fighting games that split-second accuracy is all that separates good players from noobs, and with lag it pretty much levels the skill playing field.

Not to discount headshots with a rocket launcher of course, but yeah, I was referring to the sniper rifles with hit zones only a few coords wide. I do, however, see your point and in a game like VF5 the fraction of a second lag issue would be a very real annoyance in online play. That being said, this is Smash Bros. I wanna be able to hop online and have some fun and if I wanna play competitively I’ll do it outside the realm of online play.
