Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Wii are very amused

sigh…i guess I suppose i’ll actually give the c-stick a shot…though still it just feels like what i’ve said before but i’ll take you guys word on it.

In other News, Todays update has won the internet. Thank you sakurai for making me laugh. I’m sure it’ll be ‘a gas’ whenever someone decides to bring out Wario. Jesus christ though i wonder how big the radius on a wario waft is fully charged…and exactly what is the maximum?

Edit: Oh god i just thought about the sounds…lmao I’m probably gonna be dying laughing for about 2 weeks when i hear the fully charged up waft. It also looks like it had extra jump potential depending upon how high he goes and if he can do anything after it.

Wario Waft = Recovery maybe?

also, I don’t use CStick with Ness^_^ I also dont with Fox(my fox is stupid), but I do CStick with CF and Falco(those are also of my stupid characters)

now that I think about it…it’d be awesome if you could swing the mortorcycle around like a pair of nunchaku or something…Or at least Own someone with it ala ‘The One’ lmao. Or maybe even Dante from DMC 3. bah i tried to find a video of Yulaw owning a cop with the motorcycle. Was kind of funny.

Can someone explain the chopper attack…lol can you destroy his bike? it could actually have some use…

Wario Waft?= ass grenade basically

Wario will be a non-serious just for fun character for me

So will the Wario Waft work kinda like Bowser’s fire breath? In terms of how it’s stored, I mean?

There’s no arguing that it makes things more efficient and allows you to utilize a character to their utmost potential.

My question being is that do you see that being comporable to any other competitive genre? Programmable sticks / pads have been banned since day one in much any other fighting game tournament, and that’s not say Smash should follow suit, as the game is a different beast of its own accord, but the question to be asked is how you folks came along to accept the use of the c-stick perhaps? Was there ever a point were people were not using the c-stick and then went full force with it? Or was it just there from the start?

Also, WHERE THE FUCK IS MY SEXY SUIT SAMUS ALREADY?

rumor has it she is a secret character…lolz

next week a new profile will be shown

will it be ZSS? snake? meta-kinght? or a BRAND NEW!!! returning character.find out next week on

Sakurai’s Sadist Super Smash Secret info

This has been the best update BY FAR!!!

Wario’s Chopper is probably the most unique special move I’ve seen in Smash. My only fear is that it might suffer the Luigi effect- in which it can produce slightly random effects that will affect the “standardness” of competitive matches like how Luigi Rocket has that 1/4 chance of overshooting. Peach’s Turnips can do similar retarded things too, but for your opponent.

I also wonder if this move will be used to suffice for Wario’s predicted slow running and dashing capabilities?

Now C.Falcon HAS to get his car somewhere in this game.

I think it might be like Yoshi’s egg roll.

Clearly, like the vegs, it can drop and be picked up. The real question is: can somebody else ride it? If so, team matches take on a new dynamic.

Well, I can’t say for sure since I came around about early 2004 and the game was competitive long before then. I do know that c-stick use wasn’t completely conventional though, as there were still a handful of decent players who refused to use the c-stick at that time (at this time wavedash was just being assimilated also, even though it had been around years before). This was a very interesting year, because competitive Smash and its community was still trying to ossiify its form. Believe or not, there was constant bickering within the community about these things (wavedash and c-stick) and even the idea of items and the game’s legitmacy as a competitve fighter.

Thing is, the analogy regarding Smash, conventional fighters and programmable buttons doesn’t hold up. The problem with casual Smash players is that they tend to see Smash attacks as Special Moves when they aren’t. In the Smash universe, they’re simply powerful normals.

As far as Smashes go, the c-stick isn’t programming any dexterous motions/button combinations, it’s simply providing another, sometimes more efficient option to execute a specific set of Normals (key example; I need a Smash attack to come out on a specific frame. This cannot be achieved with the control stick as it takes about 4 frames to activate a Smash in that fashion).

This does not make it a better option by any means. People still use the Control Stick for Smashes when they need to charge them (you can charge Smashes with the C-Stick also, but it’s harder because you need to use the A/Z buttons and the timing is more strict since the C-stick activates the Smash in a single frame).

So no, I don’t see the two being comparable at all. Programmable buttons in traditional fighters are largely for “ease”. The c-stick is all about “efficiency”. It serves additional purposes and doesn’t render its alternative obsolete. Seems like a fine line until you really think about it.

That would be dope!

That’s exactly what I thought when I saw the update.

Even if it’s not a very good move it could potentially save your ass (LOLOLOL) from an kill.

It looks like a good recovery move…I wonder if he can store it like a Samus shot?

I wonder if he actually jumps off the chopper in mid air. He could get another jump out of that

He’s always storing/charging it. In that respect it’s a superior move to Samus’ B move.

yeah from these pics wario just looks like a fun character to mess around with but a bottom tier character if you are actually playing seriously

Wario is my main man.

I THOUGHT THIS WASN’T MELEE DISCUSSION. IT WOULD APPEAR THAT I WAS MISTAKEN.

Yes, but it’s like the inverse of it, for the most part.

It saves up just like how Bowser’s wears out the most you use it. Only reason that it’s not the full inverse is because Bowser’s starts at full and can recharge the most he uses it.

SHE’S STUCK UP WARIO’S ASS! CAN’T YOU SEE HER IN THE FLAMES!?

YOU’RE NOT LOOKING HARD ENOUGH!!! XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

LET’S DO THIS IN ORDER!

Oh, whoops. Not talking to Master Chibi in anymore. Sorry.

Let’s do this in order.

I concur.

I wouldn’t say it’s that unique. As you said, it sort of reminds me of Peach’s Turnips, but now it seems like it may well be like Yoshi’s Egg Roll and potentially even Luigi’s Luigi Rocket given the randomness of Peach’s items. I don’t think it will misfire all that much, though. The only “misfire” I can imagine at this moment is accidentally driving off a stage. Oh, and getting it stolen from you (since the update doesn’t say how many, if any, hits you can take before you knocked off the bike…or if you can even get knocked off the bike).

Probably. I bet he has a relatively low jump given how fucking huge Wario Waft is.

I kind of doubt that, especially given the Yoshi’s egg comparison.

It really depends on if he can summon it mid-air, which I doubt, and even that’s kind of suspect. Even if he can, since he seems like such a goofy character, I can imagine Nintendo giving him huge lag as he tries to Geppou off his bike…only to realize that he’s “standing” on air, spazzes out, and then falls flat on his face.

I can see the bike exploding, though, if he can summon it mid-air.

With all the (misdirected) Melee discussion going on, I’m surprised that no one has bought instant concerns or posts of bitching about how another special-item that can’t be turned off could ruin the “purity” of tournament play. I can see this being quite a big problem, especially if the bike can explode and does so randomly. (It might not be such of a problem if Wario can only summon it once per match like I potentially imagine.)

Anyway, out of the new characters we know of so far, Wario definitely looks like my main.

Fuck Snake.

I can imagine the bike maybe being useful for moderate horizontal recovery. By starting it in midair it might have a minor horizontal arc while falling down a la Homer Simpson jumping Springfield Gorge on a skateboard.

So a maxed out Wario recovery might be something like this:

Fully charged Waft ----> Chopper Arc Descent ------> Whatever his UP+B is.

OHSHI!!! Imagine if it can do some crazy stuff like ride up vertical planes! :wow: wishful thinking ^_^!

lol Imagine what might happen if you use the Waft near the chopper?

WHOOPS POW SURPRISE!!! OOOOHHHH!!!
