on one hand Im glad that all this dash shit is gone but at the same time Im pissed that theyre gone because I wasted so much time learning it in melee!

its all retarded anyway,wavedashing, dashdancing, dashdashing, dashdribbling, dashturbating. I hate all the names they give to stuff that involves pressing the block button at different times.

but by taking out stuff Im sure players will learn to exploit what they kept in and give it a dumb name.

im indifferent to the removal of wavedashing (as it appears to be confirmed) The only thing im going to miss is WD’ing on the UFO in Fourside, but i could just play Melee to do that anywayz.

hmmmm…Ike sounds like fun…until he starts getting abused…at least he doesn’t have sweet spot =D…for right now anyway…and i wonder how the majority of the smash community is taking the ‘no WD’ news. Meowth is cool. I, too, am glad he’s not playable. Actually, I hope no other Pokemon are playable other than Pikachu and the Trainer trio. Save those slots for other characters.

Given Namco’s friendly relationship with Nintendo and the fact that Pac-Man was in that arcade Mario Kart game, I think that Pac-Man stands a REALLY good chance of making it in. Or at least a Namco character of some sort, like Cless or Lloyd.

I honestly hope a Halo character makes it in. Let’s get some crazy cross-promotion going on. I say The Arbiter. Plasma Pistol in one hand, Energy Sword in the other. Like an alien Marth with a gun. Master Chief would be too gun happy to include: remember that Sakurai said snake wasn’t going to use too many guns.

Similar note: Marcus Fenix! But there’d be too much censoring…

Fuck Square-Enix. …With that out of the way, I can totally see Mog being announced soon. Part of the FF6 cast, and an FF icon in his own right. Plus watching Mog carrying around a ridiculously huge spear tickles me 11 shades of funny. But, while Mog is cool and all, I’d rather see Terra as a pseudo-Marth replacement, or Crono because Chrono Trigger is Jesus. Kain would be broken though; you think Sonic’s up+B is high?

Megaman deserves to be in. Ryu might be cool as a SF4 cross-promotion kinda thing.

If Sakurai includes an American character, it better be one (or all) of The Lost Vikings.

Tom Nook cannot be in two places at once, so I’m pretty sure he cannot be playable.

Now there’s a theory that any playable Animal Crossing character will either be 1)that girl from the anime 2)an all original generic character.

• Wavedashing is done for.

Aw shucks, things are going to be interesting if HAL has a substitute for this.

• Directional Air Dodges are also gone, thus the no WDing. Instead the character dodges via momentum (as in, you jump diagonally forward and your dodge follows and completes the same jump arc).

So I correct in my assumption about the DI.

• L-Cancelling, the jury’s still out on. But it seems like it’s gone, in favor of reduced lag across the board.

Strange, since I’ve watched the vid with Bowser many times and his aerials still have hella lag.

• Dashdancing they were unable to do, but they were using Wii Remotes so it could work with CC/GC controller.

Probably still in IMO, unless dashes got nerfed.

• Characters seem floatier and “slide” a lot more on the ground. Maybe something they’re working on?

Electric Slide… Boogie Woogie!!! Sakurai seems to want that SSB64, just like I hoped.:lovin:

• Fox seems nerfed. He’s slower, the shine is “different” (didn’t say how exactly but said it was less effective).

• Short hop’s still in.

Well that’s not a surprise.

• Ike has MASSIVE range and power, as in longer range than anyone in the series apparently (due to the big-ass Ragnell). He’s really heavy but doesn’t jump or move that slow, more like Roy speed. Down B he thinks is Counter like Marth and Roy. Neutral B can hit from behind (so can his Forward Smash). Side B is a chargable version of his critical hit from PoR (dashing combo attack).

Oooh I really want to play him now. I wonder how his throw range is?

• Ike’s Final Smash: If the first slash connects, Ike sends them flying into the air then jumps after them, basically Omnislashes them and Aethers them back to the ground, resulting in GGPO. While Ike is destroying them mid-air the other characters can still fight.

That sounds like you can potentially combo into it! Kickass!

Near as I could tell from the matches I watched. It’s like mgslee said. Ike’s down B is counter. His side B is some dashing slash (I think slightly shorter range than Falco’s over B… but I only saw it off to the side when I was watching someone else).

Interesting note - Ike was able to counter in the MIDDLE of getting hit. I wasn’t sure when I saw it, but I mentioned it to my friend and he confirmed seeing Ike do it as well in other matches (sorry, forgot that part of the convo earlier and since Ike’s moves had been posted I didn’t bother earlier). Basically, an Ike player was getting hit by Pit’s side B (spinning blade dash… thing) and Ike countered right in the middle of it. I didn’t notice enough/seen it enough to know things such as how far it knocked Pit, if it’s a set distance, how much damage, etc. It’s definately counter, though.

Come to think of it, that’s significant given that Ike’s a heavy character. Shines a possible positive light on some of the other heavies (maybe they’re harder to “stagger” as well). Should’ve remembered to post that earlier.

His other two B moves we’ve seen on the website. And yes, his Up special looks exactly like Kirby’s, without the ground projectile at the end that Kirby has.

Gravity arc dodge actually looks promising IMO. I can already foresee some advanced tactics being created from such a dodge.

I don’t think wavedashing was a term invented by smash. For example, MvC2 has wavedashing in it also, except for in MvC2, it is dashing, canceling the dash by pressing down, and then dashing again right after the cancel. Basically it is an extended dash. I think one of the Tekkens or VFs has something called wavedashing too, I saw a video of it on youtube, although I am not really sure how it is useful since I don’t play VF or Tekken.

Also, you don’t press block with dash dancing, it’s just wiggling the control stick back and forth.
