Super Smash Bros. Brawl thread v2. wii want it now

I’d ROFLMAO if he became an actual character instead.

Man, Little Mac looks exactly like I imagined him. Now I’m extra sad that he’s not playable.

…seriously.

Son of a bitch. I didn’t even realize the NEW CHALLENGER banner was missing until I read the last line. Oh well. Still cool, but Lil’ Mac deserves better.

Aw man, Little Mac looks so cool…he should’ve been playable.

I thought of Ippo when I saw this pic: http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/items/assist/images/assist10/assist10_071018d.jpg

Green gloves and everything. The ONLY other character in Nintendo’s roster I wanted in from Day 1 is a fucking assist trophy

You do realize that Cloud could be in the game because of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories being on the GBA, right?

Not that I want him in the game over some of the others, but just mentioning that it’s a possibility, especially with Final Fantasy VII being the most popular and best-selling FF game.

Wow. That looks much cooler than I imagined it to be.

Man. After seeing Mac’s model, I suddenly want for him to be playable, even though I didn’t care that much before.

Curse you Sakurai.

Edit:

Funny you should mention that. My friend once told me that Punch-Out!! borrows some things from the manga Ashita no Joe, which in turn inspired Hajime no Ippo. I believe that he said that Mac’s game over pose was taken directly from a panel of Joe.

Man Little Mac looks good enough to be a character on his own

Thanks for the updates!

Little Mac. Hmm. Well, at least Nintendo is acknowledging that there are fans of him and Punch-Out out there; would it have been better not to have him in at all or as an AT? At least he gets represented.

Thank the almighty atheicon that little mac is not a playable character.

It’s cool he’s an assist trophy though, I just got done beating the crap out of super punch-out.

Momentum air dodge sounds cool, but it’s going to be hella disorienting at first. :looney:

 Are you serious!?

New air dodge sounds so much more useful and safe than hanging suspended in air waiting to fall helplessly down.

I still want Pac Man…

And until they show me some Zangief, SF4 gets no love from me.

Wait till we players push this. Air Dodge short hopping might be the future of combat.

in other news in the latest famitsu…

Meh. Screw Smash, I’m going into Guilty Gear now.

I just find it a bit odd that Sakurai is dragging the game backwards in terms of gameplay mechanics. . .if anything, he seems to be dumbing things down. Auto-grabbing the ledge during up-b regardless of your height, making sweetspotting pointless? Taking out DI with your airdodges, thus reducing your options while in mid-air? What the crap is this?

It just seems like Sakurai is making things unnecessarily simplified. . .I like complexity and difficult execution, it’s what made Melee fun. Brawl just seems. . .one dimensional. Argh.

In any case, maybe it’ll still have the depth that Melee had. The game can’t suck completely.

Well you can still sort of wavedash.

Short hop fast fall then waveland.

The momentum of the fast fall should carry you forward a little.

Anyway, I can imagine some advanced techs though with being able to act after an airdodge.

But I still think it’s BS what Sakurai is doing. I mean I saw a clip of Yoshi airdodge off the stage and then grab the ledge. He grabbed the ledge even though he was facing away from it.

I mean…WTF!!!

well, im wondering. Acting after an air dodge, if thats true, wouldnt that do away with accidently airdodging over the edge? So, in this case, yoshi did it, but then he turns around and grabs the ledge.

and remember, thats just a demo, its pretty much just a small sample, and probably will have its differences from the final version. The fact that sonic can Up Special off the ground, and still do stuff has always got me intrigued.

Overly difficult execution is not a good thing. Yes, the hardcore master it, but what about people with a good handle on strategy that are slightly less dextrous? Should they lose out because it will take them forever to learn WD/SHFFL/etc.?

I applaud what Sakurai is doing. Make execution easy, and let people play the damn game instead of sitting in training mode building muscle memory.

Link doesn’t seem to work…

i fixed it.

Coolies. “Realistic” Lloyd looks better than I thought.

And to keep this on-topic: if Lloyd does also show up in Brawl, I don’t know if I’d prefer the Symphonia model or this new one.

For you maybe, I thought the control mechanisms were fine intially. L-Canceling and all that jazz were stuff we took from the game and used it competitively, not the other way around. I don’t see why people expected HAL to put them in the game again, even if they were still in thy would obviously had made it user friendly as well.

Fancy techniques don’t make depth, that’s like saying good cinematography alone makes good movies. In any case like all competitive games there will be more techs that can be derived that might be more practical and much less cumbersome than in Melee.
