Where was non-DI able dodges confirmed? Ive been a little googly over the SFIV announcement so forgive me.
Screw Brawl, all I’m hype is focused on SFIV now.
Yeah but most characters have at least one Smash-like aerial. If Melee Falcon was in Brawl that knee of his would most like break stun but still lead to combo opportunity.
Let’s not forget about throws, but we’ll see…
Ninja-Edit: With the announcing of SF4 it seems this thread will be a little bit more on the mellow side. Hopefully…
Not unless the next newcomer is Ryu, then you’d all be like “SAKURAIIIIIII!”.
That’s true. My logic was that he already has plenty of pre-established moves, so it’d be pretty easy to think of what he can do in regards to Smash. But eh, you still make a good point.
Nakoruru is also the most popular character in the Samurai Spirits/Shodown series, and has her own visual novel and anime to boot. What has Haohmaru got? Jackshit.
I take it you were referring to the music that plays when you first enter the Tower? I was referring to the livelier “…And My Name’s Booster” segment that starts up when Booster greets you on his train. But hell, both could easily fit in Brawl if they’re arranged correctly. I expected for the reaper music from Kid Icarus to sound horribly out of place, but it fit in quite well… so I suppose that anything’s possible in regards to arrangement.
F-ing cosigned. If it isn’t mentioned in full detail, then I’m not losing sleep over it.
Hallelujah. Now all the pre-launch/pre-hands-on speculation on what everyone can and can’t do, and whether it’ll measure up to the last game in the series can move the hell out of my Smash thread.
Shit, I forgot all about Breath of Fire. Thanks for remin? is pummeled
couldnt have put it better,or worse.
last night I was in a funk over the brawl delay, now I could care less
Damn I can’t form a fuckin sentence. I meant to say “all my hype is focused on SFIV”
as TB mentioned earlier there is a discussion on smashboards about this. The best evidence for non-directional air dodging is this vid. You can see at about the 1:50 the stage makes a transition and diddykong is moving towards the right in the air and when he does an air dodge he does a spot dodge in the air instead of floating to the right like we see in melee. Also note that while dodging he’s still falling so I wonder if you can even hang in the air like you can with a neutral air dodge in melee. I’d be kinda bummed out if it was gone cause I mean atleast get a unique animation, they look like they’re just magically suspended when they do a spot dodge in the air.
Hard to tell how it’s going to play out though because I believe you can jump after an air dodge so maybe that’ll lead to some interesting gameplay.
I don’t understand why people would think directional dodging was removed. Perhaps Diddy Kong didn’t directional dodge. . .because the guy wasn’t adding a directional input?
The only thing we can tell–and even that’s a bit iffy–is that you’re not suspended in mid-air as you air-dodge; you just keep on falling. But again, this isn’t really clear, mostly because the stage was still transforming, so you can’t tell if Diddy was on the ground or not, or if they were still airborne.
Wait until people can play the demo later this week, then complain about it. For now, we’re just speculating randomly, which really serves no purpose.
The only thing that part proves is that you still fall while air-dodging. We don’t even know if the person playing was holding a direction at all.
edit: oops maelstrom beat me to it.
you can tell that that he’s floating because samus is on the ground and there are no platforms. If you look at the first transformation the floor stays the same height, while it’s tranforming what happens is platforms come up from the ground however there are no platforms in the last version of the stage also before the screen goes grey the platforms are already gone so diddy kong was in fact falling.
how the hell did i forget about that music? X.X hell yeah throw that in there in some way and have it take place in booster’s tower lol
It looks like a neutral air dodge DI’d afterwards.
In any case the game isn’t even fully made so nothing can be 100% confirmed, so even if it was true that only neutral ADing was possible it might not be that way in the finalized version.
Okay, I had to ask this, and if it’s already been covered, then I apologize.
I’m a HUGE Animal Crossing fanboy, and given that there’s a stage, assist, and item from Animal Crossing confirmed for Brawl, what do you think the chances are of seeing a playable Animal Crossing character? I kinda thought Resetti would be perfect, but who knows…
Discuss! I myself want to beat the living shit out of Sonic using Tom Nook.
Nigga please. I hate people who bitch about items too, but poking fights about that shit is pointless.
Dude on Smashboards got to play Brawl (he goes to DigiPen and Nintendo brought it by), he had some good info:
-
Wavedashing is done for.
-
Directional Air Dodges are also gone, thus the no WDing. Instead the character dodges via momentum (as in, you jump diagonally forward and your dodge follows and completes the same jump arc).
-
L-Cancelling, the jury’s still out on. But it seems like it’s gone, in favor of reduced lag across the board.
-
Dashdancing they were unable to do, but they were using Wii Remotes so it could work with CC/GC controller.
-
Characters seem floatier and “slide” a lot more on the ground. Maybe something they’re working on?
-
Fox seems nerfed. He’s slower, the shine is “different” (didn’t say how exactly but said it was less effective).
-
Short hop’s still in.
-
Ike has MASSIVE range and power, as in longer range than anyone in the series apparently (due to the big-ass Ragnell). He’s really heavy but doesn’t jump or move that slow, more like Roy speed. Down B he thinks is Counter like Marth and Roy. Neutral B can hit from behind (so can his Forward Smash). Side B is a chargable version of his critical hit from PoR (dashing combo attack).
-
Ike’s Final Smash: If the first slash connects, Ike sends them flying into the air then jumps after them, basically Omnislashes them and Aethers them back to the ground, resulting in GGPO. While Ike is destroying them mid-air the other characters can still fight.
0% chance! and I’m only saying that cause little Mac should be playable and damn Nintendo if they think an Animal Crossing character should be playable before Little Mac. I mean c’mon nintendo, the Wii is crying for a punch out game, it’s the perfect system for Punch Out and what better way to increase consumer consciousness about the franchise than having Little Mac as a playable character?!
Oh, absolute tr00f.
Even I would pick Little Mac over Tom Nook, despite the fact that I have never played Punch-Out and am OBSESSED with Animal Crossing.
Wow, this is great information.
Any info on crawling?
…seriously.
