Super Smash Bros. Brawl thread v2. wii want it now

Unless throws and multiple hitting attacks (i.e. Meta Knight) aren’t negated either I seriously doubt it will help much. Mobility is the name of the game in Smash and if your opponent can dance around you it doesn’t matter how good your defensive capabilities are.

If Sakurai’s gonna put in a non-japan character, I think Mike Jones is still a pretty bottom-tier choice, when he could put in an Elite Beat Agent instead.

And even though Little Mac is just an AT, I’m still holding out hope for Bald Bull as a playable. After all, the mainc haracters in punchout were the opponents, not Mac. And Bald Bull seems to be the mascot of Punchout. And there has been mention of Smash needing more large characters and villains. Bull could be bigger than Bowser, lol.

…seriously.

Little Mac is the MAIN character in Punch-Out! Why on earth would they put in Bald Bull instead of Little Mac? That’s like putting Heat Man in, instead of Mega Man.

But I will say this. Nakoruru made it CvS before Haohmaru.

Little Mac has been in 1 (out of 4) Punchout games. Bald Bull has been in 3, plus he made a cameo in that arm wrestling arcade game.

This is just speculation but humor me on this.
I noticed that brawl is now a 8 directional game as oposed to melees 16 directionality, due to the fact that it uses a d-pad for movement(the d-pad only has eight directions) !

All arcade machine fighting games are eight directinal and none are 16 directions so it could use a convetional stick in case you dont understand where im coming from. So if thats the case then it seems probable that it would be made into an arcade machine. Nintendo has made several games into arcade machines including f-zero and mario kart, plus arcade machines are ussually a standard in japan so i hope this works out like im thinking. Smash bros arcade machines could revive the arcade seen in the west!

well guys, it was nice reading this thread, but since the shoryuken is probably gonna crash soon because of Street Fighter 4 being announced, i have no clue when itll be good and running

in all honesty, SF4 has put a smile on my face, but Sonic being in Brawl had me rolling on the floor having heart attacks and screaming for joy. SF4 is great news though, but hasnt quite hyped me enough.

@ dizzynecro - the game also uses various analog sticks, so take that as you will. I doubt itll change to 8 way, since smash has a track record for totally free 2d movement, so i guess thats just a hurdle someone with a wii-mote is gonna have to get over.

man, having a non-directional air dodge looks stupid and I’m not talking about the mechanics, I’m talking about how it’s the same animation as the ground dodge.

Sakurai just took the SSB series one giant leap backwards with that shit.

yeah that’s pretty ridiculous. I mean if you wanna take out wave dashing then ok I can live with that but then to go a step further and not allow anybody to influence their air dodge is stupid. With ground dodging you have the option of rolling forward, rolling backwards or doing a spot dodge and having a non-directional air dodge will make it ridiculously easy to predict.

I HAVE FURY!!! I saw booster’s tower and remembered it and I was on the fence on including that in my list…but i suppose it wouldn’t be bad to have that in and they fix it up in some way so it doesn’t sound like we’re fighting in an elevator or something really clean like a doctor’s place.

that’s only for the wii mote…people who play that way are gonna have to get used to not having access to all the directions… especially since their are the 3 other controll schemes that have an analog stick…and smash bros as an arcade machine? At this point in time…i’d have to say no i don’t want them to do that…specifically if it’s going to interfere with them bringing out brawl ANY later than it already is…I’d also suspect it be kinda weird to play it with an arcade stick since a few people use their left index finger for the left shoulder buttons…

And guys…chill out lol. Wait until at least Thursday to really hear from people about the game and even then you have to remember that everything that hasn’t been announced on the smash bros. dojo site is not final. Sakurai had already said that once before…so the possibility of him putting in directional influenced dodges is still possible if it’s not in on this version of smash. Though i will agree it would kinda suck if they didn’t have that in.

Well, Sakurai did hint at heavier/larger characters being unaffected by weaker attacks, meaning that they couldn’t be stunned. Which is a big thing really, because stun time in Smash allows you to gatling to all sorts of different and crazy combos. Stun time is what allows Falco to get inside and lock you down with lasers/drillshine combos. Imagine if Bowser was immune to lasers and jabs. Bowser would practically be a counter against Falco.

And as long as we’re throwing out random character predictions, then I think that some Advance Wars character needs to be in there. An assist trophy just isn’t enough. . .having Andy or Sami in there as a playable character in there would be nothing short of amazing.

I’m sure he’ll add it in, he wouldn’t do this just for wavedashing. If any of you remember you could remove wavedashing your self from the game with debug mode, and you could still air dodge normally >_>

Mario has been in more Game and Watch games than Mr.Game&Watch and yet G&W Mario with diving bells and fireman suit with hose assist wasn’t in Melee.

It’s just one thing to adapt to. Luckily I play SSB64 so the transition will be silky for me. Sucks for those characters who needed the mobility and extra recovery like Samus, Gannondorf, Link, Mario, Luigi, etc…

BTW is this actually confirmed or just speculation? Just because no extraneous effort was made in explaining all the nuances of the control mechanism doesn’t Tilts and directional air dodges aren’t possible.
