Super SFIV Arcade - Akuma Changes

The FADC into U2 was started on this forum and has no mention in the Japanese wiki at all. In short, its bullshit. For now.

The walk speed is mentioned in the Japanese wiki though the details are sketchy. Its punctuated with a question mark suggesting those who used Akuma at the loketests weren’t 100% certain. I assume something perhaps felt a little different which might have prompted them to mention this or perhaps those who played with him weren’t 100% accustomed to his feel in Super.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I find it interesting that there is no mention of Chun’s walk speed being altered and she moves about as zippy as Akuma AND she is a highly ranked character.

I’m of the view that movement changes are very detrimental to any character when slowed down. Speeding movement up is always a welcome change (think Cody and Juri) but slowing it down stands to frustrate seasoned players of that character not to mention the negative impact it has of timing and setups.

I know what he means. After using Akuma for so long with his fast walk speed and his demon flips, Ryu feels sorta slow lol

I know what you mean. I mostly use Gouki and Bison. Both of them are two of the fastest charcters in the game walk speed wise. When i try to play with ryu it just seems odd and slow.

Here’s a cool “buff” I’d like Capcom to give Akuma: Give him his old cool looking “?” kanji back when he uses the Demon, not that retarded looking one he has now… :razz:

His demon should say Tokido instead of the Japanese symbol.

exactly, nerf all these fucking 2 sec bitches. by the end of the ae version charge characters will be top tiers and dan will be the strongest shoto (maybe ken?)

That’s nice to know, Akuma’s focus attack should be able to crumble it every time now, his stupid hitbox made you hit nothing a lot of the time before.

Hope Akuma will still be able to punish all rolls with U1 now (in-case they’ve altered the actual recovery time when Blanka lands from the rolls), It might be possible that Akuma will be able to easily sweep MP and HP horizontal rolls now.

I think it’ll be much easier to punish random rolls now, I’ve eaten some stupid throws because I try to sweep the roll’s recovery a bit too early.

Wouldn’t this Ultra be officially garbage after losing it’s super armor lol?

Makoto seems to have gotten much better (1000 health, breaker EX Hayate, better hitboxes, even better forward and backdash which were already beastly !!!)

Next weeks changes will be about Zangief, Sagat, Dan and Dudley, I’m very interested to hear about Gief’s and Sagat’s changes, I hope they give Gief his 3 frame cr. lk back again and Sagat should get his SF4 st. lk again. They will probably release Seth and Akuma’s nerfs at the same time =(

not feeling too happy about the nerfs for ak nor abel.

abel i wont even begin, they raped him.

but for ak, they are starting to rape him too.

the 3 major nerfs that killed part of his game were
1)Stun output - PERIOD. i shouldnt have to beat a guy senseless for the entire round to stun him.
2)Teleport Recovery - teleports are so easy to bait, scrubs that dont know how to bait cry.
3)if they reduce his walk speed, they will FUCK him up. this totally changes how we would play akuma. (timings change etc, walk up grabs are easier to react to, etc, etc)

winning with akuma takes work. the scrubs dont see that. you need to set your opponent into choosing the wrong things upon wakeup, zone CORRECTLY, poke cautiously and watch what you throw out. playing against well seasoned players is challenging, esp for those who know the matchup, hell playing really good players period is a challenge no matter what.

screw nerfing top chars, leave them alone and buff the weak. (LIKE MAKOTO! :] THANK GOD SHE’s MY SECOND MAIN)

After seeing all these pointless nerfs, i’m beginning to worry about akuma’s fate. Hope they don’t fuck too much with him or i might as well just quit the game and wait until MVC3 comes out.

Don’t worry guys. Our nerfs are coming. :smiley: If you notice, the only way we’re gonna get buffs is if we’re down to current Makoto/Gen tier, so I’d rather he go down to F tier now so he can be A later like Makoto.

If they add recovery to DFP I quit this fucking game. Pointless bullshit nerfs already happened. We’ve got no health, no stun, a shit U2, a wonky FADC into fs.HK… what more can they do?

Well here’s the thing, if they nerf 'Kuma but give him 1000 health, I’d be a little bit happier.

But that’s not gonna happen; seems a lot of the nerfs done to characters were done on the recomendation of online Ryu scrubs: “Oh!! Blanka’s slide thingy stays on too long! We’re constantly walking into it and getting hit! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!”, “When Abel rolls, I can’t trip him and he grabs me! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!”

Nevermind that Blanka’s slide is so punishable on block and that you can throw Abel out of his rolls. Do you know how many idiots complain that Akuma is cheap? I have friends that still think that Akuma is (should be??) banned at tournaments (they’re mostly 2T players).

Capcom is going to look in their closet for the biggest NERF stick they have and hit Akuma with it… HARD!

i mean our char is not the only one who is get nerfed so take it easy
if you are scared about all the changes pick a other char or stop playing the game

i mean its really pity that akuma gets nerfed but we should not put so much energy in a thread like this
if he gets nerfed so what its not the first time and if you think about it
akuma is still a good competitive char in ssf4 after the nerfs of his vanilla version
so dont be scared akuma supporters =)

I’d rather have Vanilla Akuma with 800 or even 750 health than a crappy even worse than Ryu version with 1000 health.

As already been said, the best buff would be if Akuma was left untouched, some of those crazy nerfs mid tier characters have been getting makes me doubt that it’ll happen and hopes for any decent stun buffs are pretty much gone.

I’m also concerned about Akuma being nerfed in AE, but on the other hand, it seems like many of the major nerfs are targeting ‘beginner friendly’ tactics that are unfairly effective in online play. For example:

  1. Adding 2 frames of recovery on Ken’s LP DP will make it much easier to punish if it whiffs/is blocked, discouraging players from mashing DP as they’re landing.
  2. Reducing landing distance on blocked Blanka Balls will make it much easier to punish them when they’re blocked, discouraging Blanka Ball spam
  3. Changing hitbox on Honda’s headbutt to make it less effective as an AA might discourage Honda players from simply turtle-ing and headbutting all jump-ins.

I’m thinking (read:hoping) that since Akuma isn’t considered a character that’s easy to win with online, and most don’t consider him to have any spammable/cheap attacks, he may emerge from the new update relatively unscathed. I think we can probably rule out buffs, though.

Here’s hoping the only nerf is the removal of the Coward Copter!
