I agree with everyone saying that no nerfs and no buffs is really the best we can hope for.
Even if the nerf is just no more fly hurricane kick I will be fine with that.
I switched from Seth to Akuma in SSFIV after the nerfs made to Seth. If Akuma gets a big chop I am moving on.
On a side note if they buff Akuma I think you guys owe me a thank you. I have gone on some ridiculous losing streaks.
I’ll be a ‘monkey’s uncle’ if there are no NERFS to Akuma. Seriously, every character got a ‘nerf/s’ so it is only practical (Capcom way) to nerf Akuma as well even if he already suffered from Vanilla.
Whatever they may be. If it makes it that much more difficult to play Akuma leisurely and competitively then I am quitting altogether. From Vanilla to Super, I have had just about enough. (You learn/practice one thing over and over and find it in-applicable upon the next iteration. On top of that, you’ve wasted hours for nothing. Yeah, maybe I should just switch to button mashing Ryu or turtle Dictator. Fawk that! I’ll just quit … :).)
i will stick with akuma no matter what tier he will be or how much they will nerf him
i like the character and his playstyle appeal to me
but anyway i dont think that capcom will do much to akuma they will take some parts away and instead give him something for it like they did do to every other char. my 2 1/2 cents or is there any char who only got nerfs i dont think so
haha
but overall it wont make him so bad dmg reducing wont hurt his gameplay
only thing that might take a effect is his roll because you can punish it easier now
and the cr.hp is only used in combos so the smaller hitbox shouldnt take any big effects on him
Shin is already the boss mode Akuma in Super (purple gi, darker skin, red hair + meterless double zanku), this looks like a new type akuma, more akin to Orochi Akuma from CvS (White Hair)
If its true, hes prolly boss only, and if he IS playable he’ll either be significantly nerfed from his CPU counterpart like other bosses, or outright banned from tourney play
Still just speculation but anyway, i suspect the only major differences might be a different ultra or something and the double air fb, if he is playable, capcom wont make him utterly broken to get tournies to ban him and evil ryu. This isn’t sf2 (or i hope it doesnt become another sf2). I can also see him being better in some areas but worse in other areas. For example, maybe he does more damage overall but has more recovery on some of his specials. Stuff like that.
Edit: Spoke to a mate of mine who reads Japanese. My notes from His take on things:
U2 has a bigger hitbox and is more effective now when cancelled from HP > tele > U2. The crouching aspect is still unclear. Its possible it is referring to c.hp to force stand and then cancelling into U2. Currently this gives mixed results in super, but maybe it starts faster now allowing opponents to be collected from the force-stand?
MP SRK has more invincibility
Air tatsu trajectory nerfed (ala Ryu)
These changes I can handle. In fact, they’ll do nicely. Ostensibly Akuma hasn’t been nerfed beyond the tatsu change. At least, going by this change list he hasn’t
The jury is out re: how concrete this change list is, but its certainly interesting.
Well, if those are the only changes then we have two minor buffs and one nerf. That’s something worth celebrating at least for me considering my main got hit with the Capcom bat.
Yep, and original accounts mentioned that HP shaku damage and stun is back up. Suggesting the EX SRK has been dropped for max damage in favour of a return to FADC lp srk > hp Shaku. Catch is it costs us more meter.
I guess we really have to wait and see. No (major) changes is an indirect buff in my opinion. Tatsu nerf sucks, but I can live with it.
Still got to wait till Akuma’s changes gets released in the Japanese blog for confirmed information, right?
Anyway, if they’re going to buff MP SRK’s invincibility frames, I hope they won’t nerf HP’s SRK invincibility frames like what happened to Ryu (vanilla to super change). AFAIK at the moment MP SRK has 4 frames of invincibility and HP has 6, if they buffed the MP invincibility to 6 it’ll probably be a better AA option since HP SRK often won’t give you the 3 hits. On the other hand, sometimes when you’re in a bad situation and you want to HP SRK your opponent and have a couple of bars to FADC, the 3 hit version will probably give a better hit confirm (the 6 invincibility frames will make sure that you’ll beat most opponents reversals if you expected them to go for it, such as Ryu’s MP SRK).
