Super Fighting Robot Mega Man 11! Release TOMORROW!

For real Po then just stop replying in this thread. You’ve covered about all the hate that needs to be covered. What other hate of capcom is there to say?

(takes a deep, steadying breath

First and foremost, I apologize to everyone else for what I am about clog up the thread by saying, but this unfortunately needs to be said in public.)

…Except there is bickering almost solely because you choose to respond every time. You are of course allowed to respond and rebut things, but please, please stop acting like it’s absolutely never your fault when it takes two (or more) to verbally hate-fuck each other and you are way too easily baited, especially given your tendency to adopt a martyrdom complex like SRK’s very own wack Joan of Arc.

We get it. You hate modern-day Capcom, which is understandable. You have reservations about the game, which we all do since you are hardly the only disappointed by Mighty No. 9 and Capcom’s recent mistreatment of all things Mega Man even though you constantly act like it. You think it will probably be bad, which you are again allowed to think. Ad infintium.

The saddest thing about all this is that over these recent years where you’d descended into this narcissistic single-minded hatred towards various video game things is that while I’ve seen you talk about being a supposed Mega Man fan and constantly use his mistreatment by Capcom as a pillar of your hate for them, I legitimately still have no idea what the fuck you even like about any aspect of Mega Man series. All I ever, ever see you talk about is negative stuff and what the series used to be in the vaguest “when Capcom used to be good” terms instead of what you actually liked about what it used to be. Hell, even in here the closest thing to a positive or actual aspect I’ve seen you actually talk about wanting from this game is that “it should be given AAA treatment”, which is still pretty damn vague. This when you’re not nitpicking about every aspect of what little we know, which again you are allowed to do, or going out of your way to “lol” at anyone who dares be excited or just saying it will be bad like we didn’t somehow see you say it the first couple of times.

That’s extremely telling to me, especially since I’m Mr. Negative both on SRK and in real life, to say nothing of your tendency to move goal posts.

I’ve resisted calling you about on this for a while, but when you have like 25 posts in here and yet none of us know what you actually, in detail, want from this game or even liked about previous games, I’m pretty sure the problem is your raging “FUCK CAPCOM!!!” hard-on more than it is people ganging up on you or egregiously baiting you. Not that I endorse that, of course, especially I’d rather people like Tien Gouki and mood4food77 ignore you rather than just making the problem worse through current martyrdom complex.

For the record, people aren’t going out of their way to pick on you because the disagree with you, you who is apparently some sole shining beacon against the very serious evils of video-game mediocrity and Capcom degradation & Capcom shills, since they can’t handle “the truth”. They’re calling you out because way too often you come off as obsessively obnoxious, especially since you can’t seem to stand it when people dare to have a different opinion than you, as if not agreeing with your supposed profundity somehow automatically means they’re “shills” or “stans” or whatever other pro-establishment buzz-word you’re using at the time.

I really don’t understand what the fuck happened to you, to end this frankly, but as it stands now, you’re letting your hatred have you descend into madness as happened to specs and pedoviejo and Starhammer and too many others just because you’re so masturbatorily interested in being “right” at the end of the day. You can easily, rightly hate what Capcom has become without letting it dominate your (e-)life or, frankly, turn you into a blithering idiot who no one on here likes and everyone makes fun of.

You are better than this, @“po pimpus”, or at least I thought you were and while you have no reason to care for my opinion at the end of the day, you legitimately make me sadly disappointed every time see you post such blind, rabid hatred even though I’ve already come to unfortunately expect it from you.

TL; DR:

Very well. I will lay down what I like about Mega Man, and what I want from Mega Man 11…

I think Mega Man 9 had great level design, as most of the best titles do. Having the various pitfalls, enemy placement, stage gimmicks actually match the given Robot Master and stage goes a long way. That is something seemingly missing from the snippets of 11, outside the digger robot with danger cone assist in the mine level. Everything else feels just put there by some level editor software default layout. Also, where are the Mettaurs?

Sound is another key factor. We don’t get to hear anything from the game itself beyond the little diddy playing in the trailer. It’s okay… But MM9 and 10 had tracks playing in their trailers that made you stand up and take notice.

Visuals. I’ve talked this one to death, but the camera is far too zoomed out, so whatever small details and flourishes they’ve added to the character designs aren’t popping like they should. I stand by my assertion that they need further polishing. The colors also have a drabness to them, something that also annoys me about Breath of the Wild. Cell-shaded graphics benefit greatly from bright colors and a light filter-- Something Transformers: Devastation did well, and The Wind Waker remains king of.

Controls. Jury is still out, but initial reports say the game controls as precise and smooth as any other MM game. I expect this to be the one thing they can’t mess up, as the MM engine is solid as fuck. I will never be a fan of that super attack they are teasing as I feel it ruins the pace and flow of traditional MM jump n’ shoot action.

Overall, my favorite games in the franchise are MMX, X4, MM9, MM3, Maverick Hunter X(not a fan of the graphical style), MM2, MM Powered Up (again, graphical style irritates me), MM4, X3, the Zero series, and the GB games (also known as Rockman World).

I prefer MM games that keep it mostly simple, and focus on tight level design, with Boss Weapons that are actually designed with the individual levels and enemies in mind.

MM 11 currently gives me a MM 8 vibe, and I don’t like that.

Now, that said, I will attempt to not take the cheese from instigators, but I’m not about to let people just drag my name through the mud and put words in my mouth I didn’t actually say.

I don’t trust Cap “2 million units in the first month, when we can’t do that in two years”, but I am holding out hope that I actually get proven wrong by them for once.

Spoiler

Also to be clear I’m just having some fun here a bit too. Honestly if I ever met Po in real life I might argue with him some. But nothing beyond that. If you think I’d psychically ever attack anyone over stuff like this dear gawd no I never will. Also I love mega man and yes hate capcom for somethings as well. Honestly at the end of the day I’m really happy to see Mega Man 11 and it’s a good start for what -can- happen later on.

lol this thread, stickied and personally modded by the damned?!

Mega Man is serious business in SRK :coffee:

this has just started and you all already hating on Po Pimpus, you’ve seen nothing yet.

I’m sure po’s going to get banned again if MM11 turns out to be shit, no doubt.

I just want all of his posts to stand, unedited, as he posts them.

If it happens, I want this Blaze of Glory to be saved for posterity, the way Emilo’s career was not… not even by John Bon’s jingle.

@Azure you be on Po’s dick something fierce.

So what’s the consensus on the original series? I mean the non X ones. I played 2-5 on NES, 7 on SNES and then stopped (I played X1 and 3 as well). Even though I liked X series, I prefer the regular Megaman with slide over dash, Protoman (and later Bass) and dog assist are nice things on the series over Zero imo. What’s wrong about MM9 (or 8) ? I never played those so don’t have an opinion of my own. I did like (and still play from time to time) MM7 btw

When it comes to the original series the popular opinion seems to be that it peaked with MM2 or MM3 (depending on who you ask). The following games are largely recycled the formula with few innovations to freshen things up.

MM9 is based on MM2 so it didn’t have the slide and charge shot. If liked those mechanics in past games you are out of luck.

Hmm, as someone who actually played those on NES, I’d say MM2>MM3 (even tho I liked magnet man).

@“po pimpus” Your post started out really good until you said this “Cell-shaded graphics benefit greatly from bright colors and a light filter-- Something Transformers: Devastation did well”.

That game was pure garbage from top to bottom. You lost credibility with that one-you should edit that post and delete that part.

TOWARDS THE FUTURE AND BEYOND*

*[details=Spoiler]bankruptcy. :coffee:[/details]

LOL WHAT CREDIBILITY???

I don’t care what the Japanese VA sounds like, just please don’t have the North America release of Mega Man 11 sound like he only 6 years old. It’s bad enough in Mega man 8.

This credibility:

At least you remembered to bring a full team that time.

I LOVED X1 - X3 but when they brought it over to Playstation, it wasn’t the same. I guess because I was conditioned with the 16 bit, that and Mega Man was always on Nintendo consoles up to that point. I didn’t like the sound effects, or the added voices and the music didn’t do anything for me. The series died for me at X3 BUT I’m willing to give the X4 games and beyond another shot. Looking forward to this as we just got a Switch.

X1 has the superior soundtrack, I didn’t think x2 had much going on the music department, I never played x3

MM 1-3 are the games that I played the most back on the nes but I remember very little about them since I never owned those games.

Trying to turn Megaman into a AAA game sounds like a very expensive disaster waiting to happen. You ultimately run into the same problems Pac-Man developed when Namco tried to turn into a platformer, or the countless disasters Sonic has encountered since he entered the 3D plane.

I do not need an AAA Megaman game. Just make it fun.
