Sucker Punch (Film,2011)

I went into Rango thinking it was going to blow. It ended up being pretty good, despite some religiously questionable content (apparently, Clint Eastwood is some kind of a deity) and some serious liberty taking by the storyline.

Clint Eastwood wasn’t in this film.

Are you talking about Glenn Scott as Wiseman?

I liked the movie. I knew every critic on Earth would hate it. And the ones saying it’s like a video game as a bad thing shows what they think of the hobby. If I said a movie was boring, and it was just like watching golf, it would show how naive I am. Way to go critics who used that line.

Gonna watch it for the titties, and see if anything else surpasses my expectations.

Not what I expected at all. Granted I only watched one trailer like 9 months and was like, “I’m watching that!” I made the mistake of catching the early showing without getting a full nights sleep and found myself yawning even during the action scenes. They tried to cram too many genres into one movie, imo.

I didn’t think the movie was bad but I thought it was a little boring. With a name like Gasaraki, you clearly enjoy things that put normal people to sleep.

Great movie. Wanted hot chicks and mindless action and its basically what i got. Cant wait to see what Zack Snyder does with Superman.

You can’t possibly not know that “Wiseman”, as you call him, is supposed to be Clint Eastwood as the man with no name? They call him that directly.

Those lips!

Yeah SRK is a weird place.

I went into the theatre with no real high hopes (not that I thought it would be bad, but I didn’t expect anything deep), and the movie exceeded my expectations by quite a bit.

Don’t go to the movie expecting Inception, but the film was very engaging to the point when the 2 hours fly by quickly. I was wondering how the would wrap up everything from mechs, to samurais, orcs, and dragons… but it was imagined beautifully. I think the fact that the film wasn’t based on anything realistic made it easy to just relax and enjoy.
I like how in the end, a pretty much catatonic Babydoll was able to hatch out a complex plan to save her friend(s); unfortunately, it was at the cost of her own mind. I missed the first 5 minutes, so I don’t know how the boss aka bus driver was in on the whole thing to help Sweet Pea in the end, but yeah…

Also, I don’t think the other girls died in real life, they were probably lobotomized as punishment like the other girls.
Those Lips…

Is it worth a $5 ticket? $1.62 for the Blu-Ray rental? A slot on Netflix disc queue?

Well, I’m not surprised at all that most people don’t like this movie. Still, to a very few it will have some value aside from the action+girls thing.

Wow, seriously? Tickets are only $5 in America? Over here they hover around £7 usually, which is around $11.20.

$6 is the cheapest I’ve seen in the US and that’s only for AMC theaters BEFORE 12 noon Regular matinée is like $9

6 dollars? I have NEVER seen that in my LIFE down here in Florida. Even with AMC, it is usually 8.50 for matinee and 10.50 for weekend. 3D/RPX is rape… 15 dollars or some bullshit. For 15 dollars I rather go to this thing called Cinebistro which is automatically 15 bucks but you get this insane comfy chair with plenty of elbow room, 21+ only crowd [no bringing fucking babies to a rated R flick!] and if you are really baller you can order drinks/restaurant type food that they bring to your chair.

Well as I said, regular matinee is $9. $6 is ONLY before 12PM and IIRC is only on weekdays

The discount before 12 PM is everyday, I go on sundays at like 10 and the tickets are $6.

The priciest I’ve seen on this end was something like £13.50, which is roughly 22 Fucking Dollars. That’s just a regular movie. Not 3D, no big comfy seats or whatever.

This was at Westfield, a hugely popular shopping centre.

seems like it would be worth a download

With a name like Ryu, why don’t you be the wandering warrior that you should be and wander off somewhere else and stop posting garbage on the internet due to your traumatic experience of having a movie fail to meet your preposterous expectations.

edit:

Just enjoy the movie for what it is.

Saw it a few hours ago, it was an okay flick but it was definitely missing something.

Too all the people hating on this movie, not necessarily anyone here on srk, but reviewers and regular peoples in the world. If you went to see this movie and expected an amazing story and acting, I’m glad you feel ripped off because you were retarded. Pretty obvious by the trailers it was about the violence. See this this movie to enjoy the visuals, action, titties, and music. Just have fun.

This just in: every person calling Sucker Punch a bad movie obviously went in expecting The Social Network or Citizen Kane. There’s no possibility at all that people calling Sucker Punch a piece of shit are saying it’s a bad action/campy/whatever movie, as opposed to a good action/campy/whatever film. Because all movies like Sucker Punch are always meant for the crowd that likes movies “for what they are.”

Also just in: all movies are meant to be enjoyed “for what they are.” Which means no movie can be called bad, because all movies are being “what they are” because that’s what any movie is. Which means that anyone relying on this bullshit defense cannot call any movie bad ever, lest they be a hypocrite or an idiot.

I didn’t see Sucker Punch. So if you’re going to get all salty about what I just said, make sure you think about your rebuttal.
