I can get the Asus vw192 for 30 bucks, is it worth it?
Why not get it and test it and let everyone know? $30 is like 3 meals from McVomit’s.
Hello, would it be possible to use this converter with this cable to play Dreamcast on an HDTV?
I ask because the converter has a female VGA port and the cord has a male connection.
Semi the wrong thread for this but whatever. Any reason you can’t just use VGA into your TV? I’d assume this thing would do its job, no idea of its image quality or amount of lag introduced or anything though.
Anyway just get a gender changer or cable with appropriate connector genders and it’ll all plug right in.
Can you point me to the right thread. The TV we are using doesn’t have VGA.

Not sure if question goes here, but…
Does anyone know of any good Composite cables to HDMI converters?
Trying to hook up my PS2/Dreamcast/old consoles into my LCD monitor.
You’re probably better off just making a thread, since this thread is (supposed to be) for discussing very low-lag monitors in particular. I’m not trying to “backseat mod”, just I think there’s a precedent here that this isn’t really the “catch-all anything to do with TVs thread”.
You shouldn’t use composite, it looks terrible and it’s gonna look terrible on your LCD monitor. For Dreamcast use VGA out (which is 480p and can work with most games via a trick) and for PS2 use Component out (which some games support 480p natively and some support it via a homebrew hack). Converting those, I have no clue, I’m more of an analog guy when it comes to this sort of thing.
whats are the few 27" monitors thats good for sf4 nowadays?
i read somewhere that AUSU mx279H is pretty nice?
any recommendations?
I use two ASUS VE278H. displaylag.com lists the MX279H and the VE278H at about the same for input lag. I’ve never seen the screen on the MX279H but seems like the main difference is that the VE278 is LED lit, while the MX279 is using IPS.
Personally I’m not a fan of IPS screens, I don’t like how it handles some color hues and I get picky about monitor color, though the VE278H can have some noticable lack of contrast in certain color situations so the IPS may provide a small benefit. If you’re interested in the MX279 and you like IPS panels, should be a good score. If you prefer standard LED lighting, VE278H is nice. I don’t know if the MX279 is VESA mount compatible, but the VE278 is.
So I’m here sitting on the GW2750 BenQ’s monitor, and it’s great.
However, there’s a feature within the monitor that has me interested, yet confused.
It has an AMA feature that helps with “response time”. Anyone know how reliable that is?
Samsung UE32H5000 guys, anyone know if it has any input lag? Thanks.
This is for reducing ghosting but will not improve input lag. See http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/content/benq_gw2750hm.htm#gaming
No known good info on this monitor, but I promise it has input lag.
LCD = yuck
I should explain a little. Pixel response times on LCD/LED (because LED isn’t true LED, it’s still liquid crystals lit by LED lights, not actual LED RGB arrays) is shit. If I go to my friend’s house to play on his EVO monitor I can always see the ghosting image. I’m used to CRT and plasma
On the other hand, all these modern displays and their shitty input lags = yuck.
No hope for the future.
I’d go plasma if I could afford it but just doing a quick search, the cheapest TV I found costs the equivalent of $762!!! That’s crazy money!
Plasma still has input lag ;(
For previous Gen consoles (PS2/Dreamcast and older) CRT is the best way to go (preferably some RGB or Component video format)
Xbox 360 and PS3 only really work well on Older CRT screens when the games are not in HD.
LED screens you are kinda SOL.
What great about Plasma is the how black appears compared to LCD screens.
Yeah, I’ve just learned to deal with it. I didn’t switch to an LCD until the 120hz panels came out since I needed 100hz for FPS games.
I’ve been using lightboost on my XL2420T and it’s been pretty solid. Too bad it only works well at framerates + refresh rates over 100. An LCD that could lightboost at 60hz would be dope.
Apparently the Z-series can do that. I may have to pick one up.
Lightboosting is pretty much a strobe effect like old school CRT and how Plasma also works. Still, it’s a really lame work around and if your PC can’t maintain those frame rates then you’re kind of screwed.
PS3 maybe.
XBOX 360 rocks on a VGA monitor.
Definitely this. Also the lack of motion blur helps IQ tremendously, imo.
Many moons ago, people felt plasma sets had lower input lag than their LCD counterparts, but I don’t think that’s the case these days.
