Strongly Considering Buying this Game

It seems like theres a large community and a lot of fun matches… I think the game looks cool and fun, but I’m just not sure if I’ll enjoy it… I’m enjoying sf4 right now, but I’d like to get in on this game as well as another fun sf game to play =)

Do most of the people who like hd remix not like 4? I know they’re very different… I’ve been messing with the hd remix demo, but it’s just hard to tell still. Definitely seems a lot harder to play (hd remix that is). Let me know what some of you guys think. Thanks

Also… it’s 15 dollars? Is that correct?

I got bored of SF4 after the first Week.

I have yet to tire of HDR.

Make of that what you will.

What did you not like about sf4 that hdr gives you?

i haven’t played IV yet, but i think the fact that variations of ST (like HDR) have been around for decades gives an indication of the quality (and it seems the majority feel that HDR is the best version so far).

The lack of emphasis (in what i’ve experienced and played atleast) on zoneing.

The lack of solid Anti-airs.

The overemphasis on link combos to do good damage.

Just a heads-up, its going to drop in price near the end of June on XBox Live (800 points as opposed to 1200). I cannot recall the info for PSN though.

Well I’ll definitely be waiting until the end of June and grabbing it for sure. Thanks for that tip!

The game seems simpler compared to sf4 in some ways, and much more complicated in others… are there any detailed posts around here comparing the two games?

someone asked for a guide to playing st ken for a iv ken player earlier, though it just devolved into flowchart ken lulz

The game is much more straight-forward and simple than SF4, but in terms of depth, there is no competition. HDR wins over any game.

Stop stalling and buy the game already. Support Capcom and the Super Turbo community!

Is it worth 15 dollars? Is that even how much it costs?

Also, I’ve heard this game is more balanced, is that true?

This is the most balanced fighting I have ever played. Ever. 15 bucks is a steal.

The game itself is very brutal. This isn’t SF4 where a combo is a mosiquito bite. One mistake and its pretty much over if you’re up against a good opponent. That being said, the mind games and competition in this game is unmatched.

HD Remix is much more offense oriented than SFIV, because there are no ultras that reward you for getting raped. Rounds are (generally) much faster, and you don’t need annoyingly complex link combos to actually do damage (though you can learn some fairly difficult combos to kill stuff faster if you want).

I’m about to give up on SFIV, and I’m not bored at ALL with HD Remix. I’ve been playing both since each respective launch.

Don’t know what sample size you were using, but a lot of very experiences players have said that they prefer ST over HDR. It’ll take a long time for HDR to earn superiority over ST. Will people be playing HDR in 10 years? Maybe, but I bet people will still be loving ST in 10, 20, 30 years…

Well I’ll definitely be getting this soon… see you guys online.

I’ve heard the online playmodes in this are pretty cool too.

I would get HDR straight away if i was you, don’t even wait for the price drop at the end of june. You could use the extra month to un-train your brain out of all the “dial a combo” crap SFIV will have taught you.

I’ve played all of the street fighters way back since they’ve been new in arcades, and Super turbo was my fave, and HDR just took super turbo, updated the graphics and music, and added some tweaks to balance it a bit. It’s hands down, the deepest, and most compelling street fighter i’ve ever played.I still learn something new every time i play a good opponent and it’s ben 14 years since ST was released. It really has got a life long learning curve.

Coming from SFIV you’ll grapple with the speed of HDR a bit, it’s a fair bit faster, and you will have to get used to being punished hard if you make a mistake, and having no ultra combo to rely on if you take damage. The special moves are not as easy to get out as in SFIV and need more prcise input commands, so you’ll probably need to practise all the specials you already know in IV a little bit more to get them 100% of the time. You’ll also notice that the online community (at least on XBL) are a pretty high standard, and not as “casual” as IV. Stick with it, and don’t give up just cause you get beaten a bit at first. Send friend requests to people of your own level or who you feel comfortable playing. You can often jump right into their lobbies when you see them online, and you’ll rarely have trouble joining games, (unlike in IV) which is great to be able to find a good game when you’re just learning and trying to improve.

And HDR has quarter match lobbies. With the right people you can have a blast even by only watching your buddys play when you lost.

Definitely valid, but as a $15 package that includes the new remixed game mode, and all the beautiful new HD graphics, remixed sound, widescreen gameplay, as well as being able to play the Original ST with all the un-remixed gameplay and use any mixture of the old graphics, sprites, music etc if you want to, it can’t be beaten.

For the amount of play i’ve gotten out of it (and will continue to get for a long time) It’s hands down the best value i’ve ever seen in a videogame. Even if you never play the remixed HDR mode, and just stick to the old vanilla ST with the new graphics, it’s easily worth $15 for the readily available and strong online community that you get.

Just some food for thought. Just to make a point from a differnt point of view.

I MAY BE VERY WRONG!

But, MVC2 is going to come out. Blaze Blue is going to come out. T6 is going to come out. SF4 is getting more and more popular. Older players are going back to ST for the EVO 3v3 side tourny held by CB. I think you will see the player pool thin out over the next serveral months.

15$ is a deal for this game. I really think it should be on every damn 360/PS3. But, I am not sure how long the strong player base will stick.

Now, as I said this might not be relavent. But, they are facts worth considering.

easily the best $15.00 i’ve ever spent on a video game.
