Strongly Considering Buying this Game

Just some food for thought. Just to make a point from a differnt point of view.

I MAY BE VERY WRONG!

But, MVC2 is going to come out. Blaze Blue is going to come out. T6 is going to come out. SF4 is getting more and more popular. Older players are going back to ST for the EVO 3v3 side tourny held by CB. I think you will see the player pool thin out over the next serveral months.

15$ is a deal for this game. I really think it should be on every damn 360/PS3. But, I am not sure how long the strong player base will stick.

Now, as I said this might not be relavent. But, they are facts worth considering.

I think I’d like to see the turnout numbers for HDR at evo compared to the ST tourney before I proclaim it gone

SF2 has survived a ton of new fighters coming along, I imagine it will survive this one too. For whatever it’s worth, HDR is easily in my top 5 fighters. Definitely worth picking up.

Don’t know what sample size you were using, but a lot of very experiences players have said that they prefer ST over HDR. It’ll take a long time for HDR to earn superiority over ST. Will people be playing HDR in 10 years? Maybe, but I bet people will still be loving ST in 10, 20, 30 years…

ok, maybe i haven’t been outside of the hdr forums enough, though if you replace “best” with " most balanced" it still makes sense

edit: also, last time i checked HDR is ST, just with a graphics update and some tweaks. Also, keep in mind that HDR also comes with original ST

The reason I’m even debating getting the game at all is because my job ended and I’m looking for a new one… but I just got a phone call a bit ago and have an interview lined up for this week, so I’ll definitely be getting the game ASAP if I get the job, otherwise I’ll wait for the price drop.

There are no “wake ups” in this game, correct? Or are they just really hard to do?

Wake-ups…better known as reversal special moves…have a one frame window. Most of the hardcore faithful, myself included, think that this is the way it SHOULD be! This actually makes knockdowns matter.

If you’ve never played any Street Fighter 2 game before this one, all I’m going to say is that you’re going to be stepping into a world where strategy, mind games, and zoning actually matter. Combos…yeah…they matter, but only if you have the first three things down.

Be prepared for the fight of your life…and know that you’ll be playing the most balanced fighting game ever made. If you can play this game, you can play just about any other fighting game out there.
