about the chunli infinite, show me a video of it happening. Of all of these tourney videos that people make of MSS, SSC, and Mag/Cable/Sentinel, it’s funny that not one of them has a chunli in it. And instead people would rather keep making another MSP match video? It’s either a) people are full of sht or b) people are pulling it off against their little brother at home and calling that a real match.
there is not ONE single video of somebody pulling off chun li’s infinite in match, let alone TOURNEY match, yet there’s at least 3 people saying it’s easy to pull off, even in a match. I might as well say it’s easy to pull of in a match, too, but a) “I don’t use her seriously” b) “she’s too good, i wouldn’t want to wreck shop with her” c) “I don’t have a video camera” d) blah blah insert excuse here. i smell bs
anyway, it’s obvious this dialogue is going no where. strider/doom is better than strider/tron at this point in time, i agree. i do think though, if people gave more time to strider/tron, you’d see it has it’s possibilities, esp. with the fact that there’s a gap between the 2nd/3rd ring which allows for a crossup. I’m tired of having another person reply to me with the same ‘if you can’t do it doesn’t mean it’s not possible’ and ‘because I’ve landed it twice in my life, that means anyone could use it in a real match’. it gets repetitive, and despite how intelligent you’d think people are on the Internet, seems like people have trouble wrapping their heads around the idea of a Venn diagram.

For the chunli argument, of course no one uses her in tournament, but no one uses strider/tron in tourney either,
IF you can dish up a vid of a strider/tron winning in a tournament past 2006 then i promise you i will play chun-li at the next major i go to and record it, which would be final round.
Now im trying to be reasonable here, i can understand why YOU dont believe some random marvel stuff is possible, but you shouldn’t name anything impossible unless everyones tried it extensively in match, and its failed. And recorded for your viewing.

When you force yourself in a position to win matches, you only get better overall. It’s like saying I’m never going to super jump in this match and just teleport/block all over the place.
Placing Tron over Doom FORCES you to manipulate positions in where Strider will have a better advantage over your opponent.

There is much more control when you have Tron than you have with Doom. You can play all you want and understand the physics of how high Doom is going to launch your opponent which Rock etc etc.
But in a real game, the more control you have over your options [IE: Tron RINGS are easier to manipulate] the more power you’ll have to win.
Rocks are too random sure you chip but what after the hit? What about that random LK LK shit that occurs when you let go of Magneto and ITS DONE!
I can go on but I’m at work so I’ll just finish right now by saying.

im not a strider expert or whatever but so far ive never relied on any randomness to win a match and the only thing which loses me matches are technical errors and tactical errors. its all about control. Aside from the occasional rouge rock hitting my opponent after flying screen… I cant think of any shockers where the rocks did somethign they shouldnt have. if you are talking about the randomness of the rocks when it comes to comboing… its not that big of an issue because first of all the patterns are similar enough where you shouldnt get suprised or be at a disadvantage because you thought they were gonna hit a certain way. about the ease of mainpulating an assist to control a match…how about the flexibility offered by dooms rocks?
the times that ive picked tron in matches with strider on point, i found it more useful to NOT use her as an assist!!!.. if i recall i had sentinel drones on those teams and thats all i used.
Respectfully, this thread is a Strider/DOOM deal though isn’t it? I’d like to see it survive as such. I know the game fairly well at this point and I know Tron assist is most useful when you can control space in order to correctly dish it out, and I know that Strider can control space like a prince in good hands (although historically this is because of a pairing with Doom), so I know on some level that ya, Strider/Tron can work. But I’m perpetually trying to “get” Strider/Doom so it’d be rad if Strider/Doomness was a thing that happened again in this thread.:lovin:

I actually wouldn’t mind having Strider/Sent/Tron in tourney play. But you know what? I’m more likely going to make a comeback with Doom/Sent than Tron/Sent.
