Strider 2014 Available Now

And yet again they showed ENTIRE chapters for Asura’s Wrath before it came out. They showed people more then enough for them to know what they where getting into. You need to stop using that as your go to example for this stuff cuz its flat out wrong.

Can you download a Jap game voucher with a US account? Serious question, not flaming…

I was one of like two people who actually supported Asuras wrath, and if I’m not mistaken BEFORE the game leaked it was talk of the “short” missions just being prologue and early game missions and that they would get progressively longer.

But they didnt. The dev never explicitly said the game had 30 minutes of gameplay, if they had I’m sure nobody would have bought that. They said the game was at least 8-10 hours, but failed to mention how most of that was cutscenes.

So yes I still use Asura’s Wrath in my argument about how deceptive developers are regarding games. Its very true.

Bah never mind. Super off topic an shit. Not worth it.

Anyway bring on the end of Feb, decent number of games this month I want heh.

I wonder if that crazy mid-air 360 sword slash attack (up,down, attack quickly) from Strider 2 made the cut.

Also it would be cool if Strider 2 US GENESIS’s sword made the cut as a secret. I forgot what that sword was called but it was entirely a different style. Best thing about that disappointing game.

I’d love for an Osman reference somewhere too.

Edit:

And would you look at what the second post says in that thread.

Edit: derp

Developer announced two challenge modes. Beacon Run and Survival

This, Deep Down, and the new Guilty Gear are the only games I’m looking forward to at the moment.

I want so badly to trust this game, and yet Capcom. AND YET CAPCOM.

Maybe on a Steam sale. I’m not giving Capcom any more money than I have to. The burns are still very real.

Not sure if it was posted in here, but for people who dont like digital, Japan is gonna have retail copies, if you wanna imprt. If its like Darkstalkeres and Okami HD it should have English subs and probably voices since its made by a western dev.

Capcom ain’t developing, Double Helix is. Capcom has been great this generation on the digital games front.

Famitsu’s Strider Scores: (PS3/4) – 9/8/8/9 [34/40] That’s good enough for me. I don’t even need to read the reviews. Come next tuesday it’s bought!

(not saying I go off of Famitsu’s scores but if something is 8 or above I see it having a range between all reviewers of 7-10 and considering how much I like Strider a 9 or 10 is what I’d probably give it. So with that said I’m confident enough that it’s going to be a good game.)

Pre-purchasing the PC version will net you the soundtrack and a digital artbook.

Famitsu scores are bought, majority of the time. Not a dig on Strider, but just for future reference.

Nothing really stopping Capcom from releasing half the game now, the rest of it at full price 6 months later, and claiming it was never planned at all but “the fans demanded it.”

Double Helix isn’t calling the shots on things like that.

I’m day 1 on this. Really looking forward to it. This is the most hype I’ve been for a game since ultimate marvel.

Downloading Japanese PS4 demo now. I will report back with findings.

(I had to fumble through the PSN store’s site through my iPhone to find it but now all PS4 content is hidden. I would keep checking as that may change again. 2.7gb download)

Edit: It’s not as fast as Strider 2 which is good since the enemies have better targeting and this is a metroidvania style game. So once you get used to it the speed feels just right for this Strider. I still hope there is a dash move or the like to find later in the game though. I just need that oomph.

Sound is tinny sounding. It all sounds muted and this is both with my Sony Gold Headset and regular tv speakers. Everything just needs more punch to it and yes I checked the options. The default is max on both sfx and bgm. Slicing dudes doesn’t have the same impact without the proper punchy sound.

Bgm is dope btw. I’m gonna need the soundtrack stat.

Demo takes you up through phase 1 of the Orooborus (sp?) boss fight. You get the slide that causes damage and the charged attack. Once I got those I REALLY started digging the combat. I still need to teach myself to use the launcher during combat though. Mixing that in with just those two attacks should be a treat. This is certainly where the game shines the most.

Speaking of shine the graphics are straight. Nothing really mind blowing even with the next gen sheen. It’s fluid and sharp. That’s what matters most. Art direction is better in person. Game could have been sweeter with 3D support.

This game, although a remake, seems like it would have been the logical step for Strider 3. I hope the game does as well as Bionic Commando Rearmed did. It certainly feels like it should.

P.S! DO NOT PLAY THIS ON ANY DIFFICULTY LESS THAN HARD. Normal was easy as pie. It felt like baby’s first strider playing on normal. Playing hard actual gives some sort of a challenge. Especially since enemies drop bits of health when murdered and there is always a health item within reach. I’m used to the old games and I expect to be punished.

The game is rating at 7/10 (IGN Italy) or above (9.5 Destructoid). It’s this generation’s Bionic Command Rearmed. If a sequel is made I hope it doesn’t end up like Rearmed 2 did.

But lets talk about length and replay value

What happened with ReArmed 2?
