Yea the original Strider was a pretty colorful game. Here’s hoping later locations are more vibrant. Maybe we get to leave the city and venture into the surrounding jungle or something?
It seems most off you want everything looking super saturated and colorful. Personally I prefer a pitch black envrionment or background with streaks of neon, flourescent colors because it makes them stand out more and the contrast is more visually enticing to me than making a whole game look like Wachowski’s Speed Racer.
Regardless, I like the way Strider is looking so far and I’m hype for it.
Eh plenty of Videogames cover the gamut of environmental locations even when it would be impossible to do so, so I’m not gonna write it off just yet. I mean you’re probably right, but hey a man can hope.
Double post: also. this is the problem I have with this modern generation of gaming…
Its a dev preview literally weeks before release and theyre doing that “theres other abilities we cant show you yet etc etc”
I really want some harder gaming journalism in 2014. The game looks just ok, not great. Its kinda audacious to be “holding back” secrets on a game that already doesnt look that good. But I digress, I’ll def pick this up after it goes on sale, and when games dont sell well usually thats not such a long wait.
Didnt like the sequel to Strider. too easy overall. hope they make this a little harder.
the original was one of the hardest platformers
Mark of the Ninja? It is a quality game indeed. too bad I lost a save file and have to restart it. will play it certainly some day.
Same thing happened with They Bleed Pixels and that game is even harder!
also one of the best Metroidvania titles is ** Bunny must die - Chelsea and the 7 Devils. **very funny, creative and difficult game
One of the low profile games I liked, even prior to Steam Greenlight, was A Walk in the Dark. Low budget and short but very good atmosphere.
Theres should always be a little mystique around a game before release, but companies take it to the extreme. Almost like they want people to think theres more to a game than there really is.
Kinda like how Asuras Rage was like 30 minutes gameplay and 7 hours cutscenes. They held out on little details like that.
I never got that feeling from this game. We are aware of all the essentials about the game. It’s a metroidvania game, all the moves from the first two games and a few from the Marvel games are being carried over into this one, classic enemies are returning, Strider runs faster in this one than he did in older games, It’ll have remixed music and the PS3 version will have a disc release in Japan with the first two games packaged with it. What more needs to be known for such a simple game?
The problem isn’t the developers not giving enough info. Practically only one site is giving this game any coverage at all.
Eh there are always a few red flags to me when games are coming out, one of them being when they are still showing the same stage demo from a game that was announced the year before, always a bad sign.
I’ll give Strider the benefit of the doubt, and at 15 bucks well i dont see why the hell not.
