I’d really like to see an upturn of posts here. I understand the joking side to it, but I’d really like to see the people who REALLY want to improve, be able to understand that they can come here for advice towards finding their strength and how they can work on it…instead of silly answers that aren’t really helping any.

Josh: To be honest man, dunno if thats a strength…this could mean that your fundamentals are basic, however your technical play is weaker (technicality comes with practice, and fundamentals are dormant). It could also mean that your at a constant level of plateau (which we’ve talked about personally)…But a player strength shouldn’t come to “I haven’t played in awhile, but I still rape.” This is a strength among many in which you cannot improve…try thinking about how you play the game and what you TRULY shine in everytime you do it…could it be your runaway? Your ability to zone? Testing your opponents patience?

Strength in one’s play style is defined as something that you have that outshines everyone else. Something that NOT MANY can do as well as you. Something that you can CARVE YOUR PLAYSTYLE AROUND in order to become the best player you can be.

For LTB, his patience is his strength. For Cole, his ability to read his opponent is his strength. For Jacob, his ability to be versatile with many characters is his (this can lead into counter picking when Jacob gets REALLY good).

Lets start trying to be a bit more serious, Frank didn’t start this to say…“My strength is to beat super joe in pillow fights” in the beginning of this post…he came serious and was trying to get some insight as to how others would think about this…can yall at least give him that?

EDIT: RIki, your one of the fewer new players that can actually focus on this to make yourself better. What exactly do you mean by streaking? Because if you mean getting large win STREAKS, I think it’s nonsensical to even post “My strength is to beast on people consistently.” I’m sure you meant something different though, because your smart enough to know that “streaking” isn’t what makes a player strong…

I don’t know what my strengths are, really. Good execution? I mean I have to default to a gimmicky character because I can’t play solid like everyone else and still win. I just have to do stupid shit. But uh, I have good execution I suppose. It’s not often I’m frustrated at my execution mistakes.

I rated everything I had based upon 10 is my ultimate goal. 10 is what I’m aspiring to get for, 10 doesn’t necessarily mean perfect 100% but It means the point at which I want to be. I’m a logical person and I know I’ll never have perfect or near perfect execution but I want to have about 90%-95% on my block strings and that’s my 10 right now I’m at 50% which I consider 6.

honestly i’d move your execution to 7 after playing you yesterday…and actually defense is an 8 (it’s hard to catch you well for me anyways). Clutch on the other hand I’m going to have to disagree. I mean yeah you do hit some demons everynow and then…but what about when you don’t have an ultra and you’re almost K.O.'d? The best way to see if your clutch is where you’re at is to play a different character, and to see if you can pull those clutch wins out with them.

Why? It’s not unfortunate to be able to play a lot of characters at a decent level and have fun with a game the way you want to when you want to, IMO. If I just stuck to one character and took a game seriously, I would grow my mustache out so I could rip it out in anger. WHY SO SERIOUS?

Because I’m never ever on the same level as anyone else with my main because I can’t stick to them and actually learn matchups well. It’s not like I learn four characters so I have these three backups that I’m decent with so I can counter-pick… I like know everyone’s combos instead of practical things like how to use their normals.

I can’t play any other character, I’ve tried and failed a lot. Akuma is for me. His mix up fits me, his wake up game and his combos look so… crispy. There’s no other character who can rival that for me. Plus lets not forget my favorite part.

i don’t know about a super addictive drug, but one thing to watch out for is to not use demon shenanigans as a crutch. I think you should try to focus on trying to win w/o it for a bit (obvously not at tournaments). So that way you can work on what you can do incase you go for a demon set up and it misses leaving you w/o an ultra.
