I love this team and all the hard work they are putting into this. Pure awesome.

3 new updates since my last posting:

It’s all final game polishing. We could see a release by the end of the year judging by what they’ve finished.

Isn’t that game like those BOR (Beats of Rage) installments? I really enjoyed those games. There was a Strider BOR that was pretty damn good. Should go and check up on any new ones.

It’s actually better than BOR. The development was a lot more involved than a BOR game.

Does this thing have online play yet? I’m too old to have friends over to play games like this, but online play is a different beast altogether. Without it the game is kinda boring, with it, this game becomes a frequently played game for me. I could alternate it with SoR2.

Yes but that’s why they created OBOR, OPEN-bor a open source program for creating streets of rage type fighters.

I liked SORR it was good but I though Return of Double Dragon, 8man, Golden Axe Remake and Crime Buster etc (all OBOR games) were much better and had more interesting gameplay to them. I think I played SOR way too much as a kid.

It’s a real shame nobody on SRK really cares about obor cause there are a lot creative types here, and obor is really easy to manipulate. You could easily make a SSBM SRK Fighter/ Fighter etc, it’s awesome, you can even edit and hack mods to your liking as I do.

you have to register to dl games.

While BOR is cool and all, I still think SORR is better. Like I said, there was a lot more involved: higher quality/remixed music, enhanced visuals and animations, stages made from scratch, new moves, weapons, and enemies, as well as contributions from countless artists and programmers.

The version you played was mainly a lengthy BETA giving you an idea of some of the stuff they could do. In fairness, it’s also 2-3 years old.

I still thik that Obor is better imo I’m sure I tried a later version SORR not so long ago I don’t really see myself playing it again it was still pretty good, but I will play OBOR Return of Double Dragon a few more times though.

Even edit it more and hack it more to my own liking too.

That’s the thing. The version of SORR (4.01b) you played is almost 2 years old. So it’s a given that the forthcoming release is going to be better and more polished than what you played.

Okay I saw their latest WIP it does look very impressive, I’m hoping there are more gameplay improvements though, there seem to be a few so I guess it would be much better.

But who knows how long that will take them? OBOR RODD is here and now, also you should see the gameplay improvements in Crime Buster V2.2 very cool, still a bit too difficult in parts but the gameplay is really interesting.

Only complaints about SORR is that specials don’t do much damage (Axel’s shoulder charge needs to be done like, 6-7 times to kill certain enemies) and too many enemies on screen at once (seriously, I got 2 bikers that keep zooming past me while I have to beat down 3 other guys… or 4 guys trying to hammer me while I’m trying to beat a boss).

Most of the tasks they’ve needed to complete are somewhere between 90-100% finished. They’ve certainly taken their time (2 years), but I’d say it could very well be ready by December-January if not sooner.

OBOR doesn’t have shit on SORR. Mr.Q is tha only dude making worthwhile mods. The rest are boring and unpolished/half-assed. 96% percent of them are eyesores and the engine is whack. It’d be straight if the engine was a little more complex (larger variety of attacks/grabs for playable characters, more creative levels) and some more talented sprite artists got involved. However, I do believe it has a LOT of potential and could be a masterpiece in the future with steady refining.

Ah I doubt it but I wouldn’t want them to rush it, it’s looking interesting.

I strongly disagree with you, I can think of several great mods by other modders, I don’t really care about graphics I think gameplay is more important at this stage.

I will list them:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - The Wrath of Shredder by BonusJZ (probably the one of the best TMNT games I ever played up their with TMNT Turtles in Time imho.)
Crime Buster v2.2 Demo (some of the best gameplay I’ve seen in a beat em up I mean ralf has a really cool running grapple and his galactic phantom.)
8man great gameplay and interesting stages, LBF
Illusion and the Falcon DC
Golden Axe Remake
Battle Toads
A Tale of vengence.

etc

I know they’re not perfect but a lot of them are better than a lot of commercial beat em ups and for one man teams it is really, impressive.

I will admit there are crappy ones but there are def a few gems and if you don’t like them you can edit them yourself (it’s really, really easy, too easy.)

Judging from this statement, you obviously haven’t played Crime Buster V2.2 at least look at some youtube videos dammit.

I can’t wait till this game is finished. It’s too bad the comments are disabled…I wanted to compliment the team for their work.

Another update from December 2nd

how cool is that that there’s people out there willing to make a game like this…

i still remember when i was kid i got SoR for xmas instead of street fighter…

but when i started playing damn i didnt felt dissapointed at all

I can’t wait till they get done with this shit. I applaud the effort they are taking to make this a reality. But I’ll still rock V4 until this comes out.
