No more! Keanu has ruined enough movies in his career. I shudder to even mention the word “Constantine”.
Go watch the Matrix and you’ll see Keanu in a gi. Now imagine he has a red headband on and presto, vomit will spew from your eye sockets.
But seriously, I think the part of Ryu would stretch his acting abilities too far.
Uhm no, Ryu has a kinda rounded head, but with a very straight lined jaw, and that shows in almost ALL the official Capcom artowork.
There are like 20 versions of SF2 and each one has had diffrient artwork for Ryu.
First of all why dont you check out this pic…
wow, what a suprise none of them look REMOTELY like Keanu.
Oh and why did you bother finding a Japanese looking pic of Ryu when Keanu dosnt look Japanese at ALL? And the pic of Keanu you found is like 10 years old (from when he did the movie Speed) he looks nothing like that anymore, plus he still didnt look like Ryu.
And lets not forget Keanu is a TERRIBLE actor, one of the worst in the buisness, nor was he a very good “martial artist” in The Matrix movies, then there’s the most important thing, fans would NOT want to see Keanu as Ryu, its the same equivilent of having Van Damme as Guile.
Thats defenitly the route Id take, although I’d get people who could act and knew martial arts, that way you wouldnt have to train them, and 2nd using unknowns who already knew martial arts would save ALOT of money, which could be better used in other areas of the movie.
True, but getting unknowns also has a better chance of having stunt doubles that know martial arts that actually look like the actors.
But yeah, I don’t want some horribly overpaid actor ruining my image of my favorite characters forever. >.> Not anymore than they already have, anyway.
Very good catch sano. Maybe now we can dig up more info on the anime in the coming months. I also wonder if the ‘possible’ scheduled date will mean a worldwide release or having the dvd come out in Japan first and then the US six months later…
Maybe if he was in a body suit, cause he’s not really tall, he’s wide enough just not tall enough, although the could easily make prostetic arms and legs for him to make him look tall.
Get a bunch of unknown martial arts actors who look the part, write a decent story (and don’t let Van Damme near it) and get a director from Hong Kong, then it might be alright. If Van Damme writes the damn thing I’m gonna cry, and it looks like he’s interested in writing and directing.
someone’s said before that they based alot of the japanese characters are based off of cultures that aren’t japanese.
I think keanu reeves would be too cliche but someone who’s tan and has more “american” features then asian ones would be better.
but that’s just me.
edit: i also think tom cruise might make a good ken, he certainly has the look for it. but i dont’ think he has the voice and i dont think keanu has the voice for ryu aswell.
