I’ll need my partner to help test this with me.
Well technically you can’t follow up a normal knockdown either, but can do so if you switch cancel. Hard Knockdown just means you can’t quick rise and have a set wake up timing (save for rolls). It’s really not all that much of a special property.
I got a question. Is it not possible to reversla through a blockstring like Hwoaranng’s mk,mk,mk, cr.hk? There is a gap between the last mk and cr.hk but I’m unable to reversal through it…like at all. Hell Gief’s lariat (a 1 button press) doesn’t even activate. Like can you not reversal through that? Just another glitch then it seems…I want a new patch…like right now.
Because you are still in block stun. Cancel advantage is vastly higher than hit/block advantage.
So, basically…I have to block the full thing right?
If you can’t reversal - yes? xD
But, there’s a gap in between the last mk and his BC cr.hk…I should be able to reversal through it…yet I can’t. I don’t understand…
There is no gap, there is never a gap between boost chains. If he boost combos into sweep from a tekken chain its a true blockstring
really? Go test that right now. mk,mk,mk, cr.hk. If you let go of block you will get sweeped. I gaurentee it.
Boost chains work in weird ways, I know if you dont block correctly you get swept and that if you let go of block you get swept, but if you block correctly there is pretty much no gap between the st.mk and the sweep which means your only options are getting hit or blocking, and you cant reversal through or backdash away.
That’s dumb…should be if there’s a gap…I should be able to reversal through it. now I gotta wait and let hwo finish his sweep which then pushes me to far back to punish with anything…like seriosuly…I want a new patch…
I hope BC’s never return…ever…
Well, like zUkUu and Dex_Sama said, there is no gap between them (it is a true blockstring), and that’s why you cannot reversal through it. I remember seeing someone saying that on some of the moves in the game, even if they’re true blockstrings, you might get hit if you let go of the block.
Most, if not all boost chains are like that
…great…
While in blockstun, the only control you have is how you are blocking (crouching or standing). If you choose to let go of the controller while stuck in true blockstrings, you will auto-block highs, but you will auto block not lows and mids (overheads).
And yes, most boost chains are true blockstrings. In order to determine if a tekken chain, target combo, or boost chain is a true blockstring or not, you need to read the frame data a bit more carefully. In both tekken chains and boost chains, the recovery animation of the moves are canceled.
Say an LP is normally +2 on block with 6 frames of recovery. If it is canceled into MP, then its recovery frames are lost and now it is +8. Now lets say MP has 7 startup frames. This means you are still in blockstun by the time MP connects and therefore it is a true blockstring. In Hwo’s case, the last MK in his tekken chain is -7 with 20 frames of recovery, therefore if canceled it is +13. His sweep has a startup of only 7 frames, therefore its a true blockstring.
With boost chains though, I’ve heard you can delay when the cancel happens by a couple a frames which may bring up “inconsistencies” with the frame data occasionally. Also boosted normals have different frame data than the regular normals, which can also lead to results different from what the frame data may read.
I was theory fighting and I was assuming that he was saying that if you hold down and not down-back, you would get hit. I tested it just now and it certainly wasn’t the case.
Basically that is true about boost chains, tho you also have to count the rest of active frames. You can delay BC til the end of active frames, which means with long active pokes like Julia’s cr.MK you can delay the next boost a lot to make it a frame trap or something. I think that’s what you heard about delaying the cancel.
