Street Fighter x Tekken - Possible changes and additions for an eventual patch (Discussion)

Thats the worst possible approach towards balancing stuff. I think its the best if we buff weak characters, instead of nerfing strong ones, that way you have something to look forward to, and not something to… well, not look forward to

I kinda agree with alexlkd. Certain jumpins feel too dominant. Either the SF cast needs their AAs to have invincibility to rival the tekken cast or they could simply nerf some extremely silly jump attacks.

And even on the USF4 boards I heard nerfing wasn’t a great way to achieve balance (mostly from Akuma players) but you can’t seriously play this game and think that Jin’s jump in HK is fine, or Nina’s j.HP is fine when compared to other characters jump in normals. They aren’t OP, but somehow that cross up hit box isn’t right. I don’t even recall how his jMK looks. =|

Yes generally speaking it is better to buff the weak characters and not nerf the strong ones, but it all depends on how you make the adjustments. For example buffing Guile’s St MP is a good buff because it does not function as it should and it is quite necessary for it to function as it should. Buffing Sonic Boom on the other hand is not a good idea. It is already one of the most difficult projectiles to deal with in the game, especially for many characters that don’t have easy ways to get past projectiles.

Remember certain buffs you may want so that you could be more effective against the Tekken top tiers, but those buffs also makes his other MUs easier as well. For this reason, adjustments to the factors necessary should first be made to “fix” certain things such as his AA problem as opposed to making a strong tool even stronger which can in turn cause further imbalance.

Furthermore some of the Tekken characters’ jump attacks have way better hitboxes and hurtboxes combined when compared to the SF cast, and for no reason. I am not proposing to make a character bad, but to adjust certain properties so that it is “balanced.”

Ummm wiki? I look on Shoryuken. Where it states Guiles LSB at 10f startup and 30f recovery SF4 that’s 40 frames total. As opposed to SFxT where LSB is 10f startup and 23f recovery. 7 frame difference sir.

It has 20 frames recovery though, and 30 frames total, thats the thing.

In agreement with alexlkd. Buffing is better in general for a games balance, but that doesn’t rule out any nerfs.

I would be extremely happy if they left the top characters alone for the most part. With the exception of Chun-Li and Jin.

I honestly feel like Chun is a big reason why a good deal of people can get away with not learning the game. I mean not to dis on Chun players, I’m sure they still have skill, but what more nuance do you need to learn with Chun? She’s tied with second best walk speed, has the best forward dash and one of the best backdashes along with Kaz/ogre/cammy. Then she has a couple of the best spacing normals, super easy and safe meter building and tag cancel set ups with legs, an incredibly solid fireball, and doesn’t really need much execution for any of it anymore. The only significant downside is her health but everyone is squishy in this game.

I’d love a tone down for her, at least her meter building, and give her back fireball charge. Then you can give her something unique like a wall bounce :p. or buff her health back up.

Some other stuff while I’m at it:

Jin:

  • Reduce horizontal/top hit box.
Reason: The move does everything, I don’t know why you would use his other air normals. Great as a A2A, one of the best cross ups in the game, great downward hit box. I can’t remember what his other air normal are lol.

  • Tone down his frame advantage some.
Reason: A 3f jab that’s +4 on block is a little silly, regardless of its range.

Heh, I was reading it wrong the whole time…sigh

Wow, so Fuhajin release only swapped around 1f of startup for 1 frame of recovery. Basically I’m playing with SF4 Fuhajin releases…I was this whole time under the impression they were faster this time around…well I’ll be damned.

Weird Pandora Wall-Bounce Bug:

If you Pandora right when the opponent will bounce off of the wall for a wall-bounce, weird things happen. In this case, the opponent moves BACKWARDS.

Some more oddities with it:

With Hei’s pandora it sends them bouncing off the wall at TWICE the normal speed but in the right direction.

It’s not a huge problem per se, but it does mess with some Pandora combos since in this case, you’d want to Pandora as early as possible to get a jump-in with your 2nd character and then go into super (at least, that’s what I was trying to do when I first discovered it). This bug messes that up.

Another weird bug…this one involving Bison’s super.

Not sure how you’d go about changing this one…you’d need to alter the hitboxes or the pushboxes in some form.

Thanks a lot @LordWilliam1234

sorry for going off topic but is this game worth getting into these days? Patches gonna get the game more busy?

We’re not even sure if a patch is coming, but there is a ‘steady’ playerbase of all skill levels imo, not as active as SF4, and come 2014 march it will probably be even less active than now (for one thing USF4 releases which will draw a few players back to it even if only temporarily, but more importantly Dark Souls 2 releases which will sure as hell have me occupied for at least a couple of months especially if the PvP is good in it and I suspect many others too :D)

Id say if you like ‘old school’ fighters which reward good reads and fundamentals then go ahead and grab it, if you’re more into UMvC3/GG/Skullgirls style games or if SF4 was your first fighter then its probably better to pass on this one or at least try it somewhere because you might not like it.

k got it thanks, am primarily a tekken player who dabbles in SF now and again, and pretty much need another title to mess around with until the next triple A lands. Just scouting for info seeing if the scene on SFxT is dead or if the game is worth spending 10 bucks on even lol.

NVM!

And thats why cody’s neutral jump hp has way less juggle potential than any other jump attack
