Looking at the Pandora note there, I had a feeling this was the situation. They were probably attempting to avoid another X-factor fiasco where everyone HATED x-factor. People still do its just more…“skillful” in when you use it.

I’m most stoked to play as Dudley and Bryan Fury

Yeah, that’s one of the things I felt shouldn’t be addressed right away since gems are pretty much part of the output in a general sense. Grey health and stopping timer on animations would probably prolong more matches and end more frequently before it runs out.

If they increase damage, they also need to look at characters that don’t have big combos like Zangief. Speeding up his SPD (9f start-up on H. :/) and giving it a small boost might adjust for potential huge combos that he’s locked out of.

Oh dear, I was quite content with the list. Dreading random nerfs to the characters I like.

If the entire cast is getting tweaks I expect a huge wall of text if they release patch notes.

i feel that this is good and bad news…good because every character will receive a change or two. Bad because they may not address the “real” issues with said character. they said they will listen to the community on this one…the question is…who exactly? im kinda scared that more characters are going to be hit with the nerf bat then with the buff stick…at this point…kinda like the consensus bitching over the twins being nerf…but w/e…i still use Yun.

now we just have to wait for the change logs…

I just hope they stop the timer during character’s supers. I know it’s been said before but I think it’ll really help with timer issues when combined with other changes (Like nerfing grey health as mentioned above).

Sad thing is I think July 31st will end up making this game worse. Because they are making such drastic changes based on the perception of the game from fans who hardly explored the game in depth, and now we have Capcom adhering to these guys and making changes just to please them.

If they make grey life recover slower Ima be mad
If they decrease damage scaling Ima be mad

Cuz these arent problems…the damage is fine but ofc in the span of 3 months most think otherwise so when we’re stuck with an update that possibly becomes TOD in the later future as we progress skill-wise I’m not gonna like it.

And if they buff Pandora to the point where itrs used in 80% of the matches…Ima be mad

Anyways… all Ik is is if this game ends up being worse in any way on July 31st…Ima be the first one to drop it.

Generally speaking, women can take less hits but are more agile and flexible.

I think it’s a 90’s carryover back when SF2 was seen as “realistic”.

I would like to see the damage scaling to be taken on a peg. I would like for some longer combos to have more benefits. I never did like the less is more philology to damage scaling.

Makes you more concious during combos. IT encourages smarter play, since u have to be mindful of how u started your combo, how much hit you did etc etc.

Makes it so the way u end ur combos is largely effected by how u started em. And I like that imo…plus damage is fine.

Do you think a minimum scaling of 20% would be helpful? I always thought the 10% were too low for this game and to SF4 like. 20% Would make tagging a bit more interesting without making supers obsolete.

Just an idea, if it´s bullshit tell me

If they’re going to do this, then the agility and flexibility must be reflected in the gameplay enough to warrant the distinction.

Sure, some characters like Viper and Ibuki can fly all over the place and approach safely, so it makes sense for them to have lower health. But, Rose? Juri? Asuka? POISON?! Poison was genetically born male. Why does she have low health?

But they acknowledge that with the extra 50!

…wait… Rose, Makoto and Asuka have 950 health too, are they they saying they were born male too…? O____O

In all seriousness, I agree and it’s one of those old design ideas I wish would go away. Character balance should not be done by health, except in extreme cases. I mean Rufus is all over the place and he somehow gets 1050…

And Akuma really shouldn’t have 800 health in this game.

Then play the game unpatched… I really like and enjoy this game, but being mad because they are fixing obvious problems with the way it is designed is ridiculous. Unfortunately, this isn’t Marvel 3 where huge problems are applauded – the game doesn’t have the necessary fan base to blindly idle in a state of disarray – you can be mad all you want, but the game has real issues that need to be addressed before the general populous will take the game more seriously…

If these changes mean more people start playing the game and enjoying it, I can’t say that I’m going to miss the few folks who are going to decide to leave. People quit Marvel 3 after Ultimate because of the changes that came with it, and now Ultimate’s fan base completely eclipses anything Marvel 3 ever had – I’d greatly prefer that to satisfying the tiny player base we have now…

Guile and Vega both have less than 1,000 health too, huh? And, as you said, so does Akuma. I think there’s more to it than just the character’s gender.

I too don’t see a problem with the way the damage scaling is now. Correct me if I’m wrong here but if there is noticeably less damage scaling, couldn’t anybody just burn 3 bars in a tag combo and just decimate 70% of your health? Then we’d get into marvel territory where huge 80% combos are the norm, and I kind of hate that.

Yeah, with the male characters, there’s more to it than gender. Male characters have a wide variety of health values, both above and below average, and those are defined by gameplay reasons.

The female characters by default are 950 and below, regardless of how they play. The only characters in 3 years to break this trend were Makoto (for about 5 minutes until she got dropped to 950), Julia, and the upcoming CYBORG Alisa.

Seriously, why is Rose below average health in SF4? How is Juri’s offense scarier than Ryu’s in either SFxT or SF4? Asuka? Lili? The only explanation is gender. And, I wouldn’t mind that if the characters were compensated somehow, but as far as I can see they aren’t.

We’ll see what they do with the patches…but I highly doubt any of the ladies will make it to average. Hell, they might drop Julia down for some unknown reason…

I think a fighter’s HP here is inversely proportional to its offensive ability. Most female characters tend to have low HP due to their speed, while Vega got his due to his speed, reach, and damage. Akuma has low HP because if it isn’t he’ll become a gamebreaker.

I never understood people who complain about damage scaling in this game (or any other game for that matter). Damage scaling is GOOD. It’s what saves your ass from being destroyed and it’s what prevents people from doing overly long stupid combos that take 20 seconds off the clock.

Make your combos shorter and if you don’t like damage scaling, then go for resets like all the smart/cool players do.

I can currently do 700 damage resets for 1-2 bars or 850 damage resets for 3. And you took all that damage for getting hit and guessing wrong once. If the damage scaling is modified to the point where a 400 damage combo deals 500, I’ll probably be able to kill in 1 shot for 2 bars of meter (and without gems).

This is what I was driving at. Most female characters tend to have much faster offenses than their male counter parts, just look at Sakura compared to Ryu.
