Street Fighter x Tekken DLC/Balance patch: 7/31/2012

Hmm, maybe that wasn’t intended? They did mention the patch had some bug fixes.

But yeah, Raven seems to be toned down enough.

Are DLC characters out on PS3 yet?
[spoiler= Me right now:]

Man im kinda upset they “lied” or made it very unclear about the dlc also inculding the balance patch. I guess it did technically but…

I’m not so peeved about them including the balance patch with the DLC, what I am peeved about though is we haven’t been told what half the fucking changes they made are. >:(

Is anyone else like, freakishly excited…? >_> Even if the patch doesn’t fix everything. I GET LARS AND BRYAN TONIGHT.

So, who wants to help me map frame data? >_> because I’m not entire sure how to figure it out, but I want to work on guides for several of the new characters.

Kind of dumb that it’s a “bug” when it’s repeatedly mentioned in the official guide for the game and has survived like 5 previous patches.

He feels okay now, but geeze it’s hard to do these new combos, especially online. My dropped combo % went way up, and they aren’t really rhythmic so they are going to be hard to muscle memory. I have bad execution and this is like my 3rd or 4th game so I’m kind of ehhh about actually working on this character now.

He feels not particularly unique anymore, he’s kind of boring now. He’s still good at zoning/anti zoning but mixup potential and damage down is kind of lame. His uses for meter to extend combos are marginally better than before with how much extra damage you get but still not worth the meter investment unless you are going for a super or cross art.

Did they also nerf the recovery on his shuriken?

General question: Are the alternate costumes out for the original cast?

When does psn store release disc lock content

Anyone get their EVO download codes yet?

At least folks aren’t “quitting” because supposedly some characters may not have been tweaked or something like in Unity.

Copy of my post from General Thread:

Allow me to compile a couple of tweets to shed some light on the patch situation:

Dawgtanian: This isn’t a full blown balance patch for the entire roster, that is something being looked into but nothing confirmed yet.

@CapcomDawg SDCC transcripts all say that July 31st patch would have changes for every character & to expect updates until the patch. FFV13?

Dawgtanian: ah sorry it was a long trip, I spoke at the Evo panel not SDCC. I apologise but I can’t comment as I wasn’t there.

@CapcomDawg This must have been a surprise for you too? Full patch is suddenly just being looked at, not even confirmed for the future?

Dawgtanian: We don’t want to discuss anything that isn’t 100% guaranteed, even if it’s 99%, as we want to avoid disappointment.

It seems like there has been some miss communication within Capcom, and that a full blown change was never intended for this update, but that it’s 99% certain that a balance patch to the entire roster is coming. Something along those lines.

Ugh. You know what? I actually wish for Capcom to revert the game back to its original state. Why? Because I don’t have faith that they’ll TRULY fix it and change any mistakes they make. I could see them make some stupid change and then leave it that way. I honestly don’t think Capcom really wants to patch this game, the overall sales do not support it. Look at what they did to Raven, for example. Or Ryu. Or Ken. Or Akuma.

So now Capcom is bullshitting about an announcement they apparently didn’t make, or we thought they did? Please. Everyone and their mother was expecting a full balance patch today. The way they have handled this game is absolutely atrocious. And yet they STILL have the balls to charge us money for extra gems and a combo editor that should be included anyway. Who wants to pay to turn off quick combos? Fuck, I really hate this company.

Also note that the character DLC is 108kb. I’m willing to bet the “compatibility” reasons they gave for putting the DLC on-disc are also complete bullshit.

Excuse me while I go enjoy this otherwise awesome game.

Um, maybe the fact they redid all the dlc characters means it is a bigger file than if they just unlocked them. Maybe they did not want a huge roster fix in the middle of the 25ann tourney?

Either way I am done defending Capcom aside from the game itself. I am feeling really salty. Has anyone tried making two hadokens collide yet? Does it freeze the game?

Am I missing something, or is Blanka complete ass? His BnB is the same crap from SFIV (j.mk, cr.mk, st.lp, hp ball) and he cant juggle, bound or wall bounce without using meter. S.HK sets a juggle state, but it doesn’t set up anything worthwhile. Disappointed. I was hoping for an electricity>cr.mk>ball kind of combo. He feels so 1 dimensional. Again, if I’m wrong, I hope someone can correct me. I really wanted Blanka to have a different… shades …ball game.

Everyone else seems to have a lot of potential so far.

It seems right now they’re trying to make the game more enjoyable for the stream monsters and netplay monsters rather than actually balancing it. I’m somewhat disappointed about that, but on the other hand, I think it’s too early to be doing a full balance patch.

Alright so you guys that have the patch are saying they didn’t balance anything but what the specifically stated before? Has anyone taken a look at the bads like Paul/Yoshi/etc? i was letting myself get excited for this but if all they did was add 12 characters i don’t like and nerf a handful of shit i’m not paying 20$ for it.

Just saw a match with Lars. He is gonna be ridiculously popular but I just want to use him anyway! Shame I have to wait a freaking month.

As for Blanka, it will likely take time to find out how he plays in this game. Even so, he has always been a bit of a turtler, right? So they probably want to keep him that way and you can extend his damage off launchers and tag cancels, rather than giving him ridiculous solo combos.

Even so, they gave Boxer, Dictator and Claw extended combos from their standards in SFIV without the use of meter. If Blanka built meter like a madman, I’d get it, but he’s not a battery. I really do hope there’s some hidden badassery, probably locked away inside his frame data.

Guess I’m going home for lunch… Yup…

Lars is going to be popular, he was popular in T6 as well. I may just go Kazuya / Bryan if I can find a way to make it work. Team Bruiser ftw!
