Street Fighter x Tekken DLC/Balance patch: 7/31/2012

My body is ready!!!

Just out of curiosity for those that main Kazuya, or just a question in general. What type of nerfs do you guys think he will get? I’ve mained him since launch, and I honestly think he’s not that great without EWGF. His Tekken Strings are not true blockstrings, his wakeup game is lacking, His EX slaughter hook is great and has tons of invincibility, but easily baitable and punishable. So, over time Kazuya has been figured out for the most part.

I have EWGF down about 98% of the time. This is definetely the main way I win most of my matches. EWGF is Kazuya IMO. It actually makes him as a character. He has great tools and damage off of jab conirms, but nothing compares to EWGF combos. Cr. Lk, or Cr. Mk into EWGF is sooooo good! lol! I am just scared Capcom is really going to go overboard on his nerfs though. The only thing that would need to be changed IMO is:

-Actually add recovery frames to his broken backdash…lol
-Decrease the Damage a bit on EWGF maybe from 100 to 80.
-Standing Jab frame reduction (Not too sure of the advantage on block, I don’t rememeber off the top of my head)

Other than that, I really don’t see anything else that really needs to be changed. His Cr. LK is amazing, and I hope to god they don’t touch that! If cody can have it in SF4 Kazuya can too…lol. I just really think they are going to do something stupid though like give EWGF a juggle possibility of 3 instead of 5 -_- and decrease the damage as well…Sigh

Does that include the console characters?

I don’t play Kazuya, I just have my problems against him :smiley: Mainly because of his stupid low/high mixup… his strange step kick overhead is so silly :frowning:

I think your three changes should be OK. EWGF will stay, that’s for sure. I also think that it should be rewarded if you got the real EWGF down. The problem is that sometimes it seems he doesn’t need anything else because some characters can’t do anything against it… (especially if you know the secret fullscreen tacticz xD). But perhaps that’s a balance problem of these other characters.
His EX Slaughter Hook is enough for Kazuya. I just hope that other characters like Paul get something like this, too. He has no good AA, reversal and even nothing like EX Slaughter Hook. So why using chars like Paul if you can use Kazuya (for example)? :confused:

TBH F. Kazuya is mid tier…which means 98% of Kazuyas are mid tier :slight_smile:

I don’t agree with that. Kazuya does a massive (and easy) amount of non-EWGF damage. If his non-EWGF damage was nerfed for better game balance, I wouldn’t complain…

Yea that purple haze looking punch of his does crazy damage. Too much.

Slaughter Hook = 90 damage, Slaughter Kick = 130, Devestator = 160, and Demon God Fist = 120.

I main kazuya and almost no one uses him the way he is meant to be played. Lots of his tricks you can beat. He can be thrown out of ex SH. Ewgf can be stop with lows. I dont even u those long target combos I stick with the left right one. Most Kazuyas I play get scrubbed by neutral jumps.

I don’t wanna waste time learning EWGF cuz my gut tells me its gonna be nerfed. Instead I use alot of high low mix-ups with overheads. Try to set up for that OH ground bounce CH set up and alot of low strong frame traps and mix up with throws for easy safe jump set-ups.

I think alot of Kaz’s that master EWGF simply forget about his game as a whole because all they need is one good hit.

Some of the Tekken character damage needs to be turned up a notch. Also, since they’re supposed to be good at mixing up, some of them should have clean and better tuned frame advantage on block. They need something drastic to make up for weak anti-airs in general.

I don’t play Tekken, but I thought a lot of things in that game were punishable on block…?

It is played out like that in there. But in here most of them don’t have too good of moves to punish. I think some focus should be placed in tuning that. Hopefully I see it next week.

Hmm… I just don’t see what needs “fixing” (except for other than anti-airs). I think a majority of the Tekken characters outclass the SF cast. Either way, we’ll see next week.

I, also, don’t think EWGFs are mandatory for Kazuya players. It’s a requirement for flashy Kazuya players. My reaction when I do/see flashy shit:

Maximizing damage is certainly a requirement.

Yea I dont want them over “fixing” things. I can deal with kaz decently now, but just his damage usually surprises me, especially those 120 and 160 ones that you pointed out. The fact that he can smash you with them in many situations too.

It’s really a bit worrisome that they haven’t released any info on the rest of the character changes. If every character is indeed receiving tweaks, you’d think they would start mentioning a little more instead of releasing it all at once later (or even worse, forcing people to figure out the changes on their own when the DLC hits)
