Street Fighter x Tekken DLC/Balance patch: 7/31/2012

Well with the throw ranges changed in this game. The dive kick nerfs, the air tatsu nerfs… maybe they wanted this game to have a different approach. I think it’s a good thing. Otherwise it would be “SF4 with chain combos” and all the same setups. At least the roll feature isn’t nerfed =p

LOL your funny. Just because I can throw when I want to means I play scrubs your hilarious! I throw maybe once a match if that. If your on Xbox we can get it on anytime i dont need to make smart ass comments to look cool my skill speaks for me GT: SOURDEEEEE

I feel like rolls are too easily punished, personally. I very seldom get a roll with say, Sim, that doesn’t seem to not be worth it by virtue of the danger it puts him in.

what?

edit: thank god for ignore function… moving on…

sums up the issue with throws.

Also…
I think damage needs to be toned down for some characters like Hugo and Ryu. We might get them. Juri is getting 50 points shaved off her super. 350 was kinda high to begin with.

Another problem is some characters have very bizarre hitboxes that can result in crossups in the corner or hitting in front when the first attack hit in the back. But you can learn how to block those.

Ryu needs to be universally taken down a peg. The easiest comparative argument for this is just looking at Akuma – Akuma is supposed to be Ryu with more damage, mobility, and general mix up options such that he is a total glass cannon (high threat, low endurance), yet Ryu out performs Akuma in every way AND has an extra 150 life while doing it. It doesn’t make sense.

Hugo’s damage isn’t incredibly bad because he’s not a very solid character. I feel like he should be changed but for the life of me I can’t think of anything worth doing to him.

yup. Absolutely no point in using Akuma when you have Ryu as he is.

They just need to bring more characters up a peg IMO. I want this game to have some more wacky paced offense. Toning characters down just brings this closer to the SF4 sentiments. Two more weeks, folks!!!

Sprinkle a few more good fast overheads and resets plz.

I agree. The game needs to re-evaluate a lot of its rules and standards. Like characters who have pokes and overheads you can’t combo with makes no sense, for example, when you have guys like Ryu who get a day and a half to combo after even the lightest touch.

idgaf what anyone thinks

tasu needed to go.

And it shall

It’s already dead on arrival July 31st. :stuck_out_tongue:

Need Bison to paint the fence in this game. Why, oh, why, Capcpcom!?!?!

It would’ve been glorious!

He’s actually pretty good in this game… There’s a Bison player I know who creams people with him, you just can’t play him the same (and people, apparently, absolutely hate change.)

I haven’t read every single post, but the ones I have read seem to make a lot of good points.

Except one person has been neglected. Where is the love for Paul? He has 0 invincibility on any of his EX moves and is overall a horrible character. They patch out what people complain about. Mainly Air tatsu and stupid time wasting loops, but won’t give attention to a character that is mainly worthless. I use a Raven Paul team currently and have not run into a single Paul user online in ranked. This is around 4500 BP. Outside of that, I’m glad they are looking into the timer.

One more thing I’d love to see is the banning of assist gems in ranked games. At least put a search option for it.

I ran into a decent Asuka/Paul team, Asuka doing most of the work, but I didn’t know what to expect from Paul and he got me lol.

Paul and Yoshimitsu have absolutely no idea what they’re doing in this game. I hate it because I love everything about both of them – except that they don’t really work as well as they should.

You should check out this guy, he makes Yoshi very viable:

Renic makes Paul work too – its not so much that they can’t work, its more than it takes a great amount of effort to get to work on a basic level with other characters. Comparatively, C.Viper is incredibly technical in SSF4, but she’s also one of the best character’s in the game. Difficulty of use should be balanced with clear superiority, but in the case of Paul and Yoshi, they just get to be “viable” instead of great. i don’t think that’s fair, and Vulcan Hades is a good example of the kind of player who should be greatly rewarded for his efforts.

I’ve been using Paul for a bit. Awesome character but he’s AWFUL.

Except Yoshimitsu isn’t hard to use at all. He has no hard links, he can hit confirm of his j.hp. His special moves and combos don’t require good execution and he has a teleport + roll to ass out on wake up + an armored EX move.

He’s also not bad at all imo. In fact the more I play him the more I’m convinced he’s good and I’m actually at a point where I feel more confident with Yoshimitsu on the screen instead of Juri. Yoshi has great ground control and one of the best air to air normals in the game (he can shut down Ken and Rufus). He’s the only character in the game that has a move that cannot be alpha countered, he can store counter hits all day for free and they can’t do shit about it (having a counter hit stored makes his AA and A2A 100 times better and makes the overhead crumple threat always present at midrange). He can get 440 damage for 1 bar off a random ass Windmill that can be made safe or be used to bait alpha counters on block, he can combo tag cancel from his Overhead, his charge attack modifies his hurtbox (which makes it such a dangerous tool for footsies) and his CADC is one of the best in the game.

He has all those tools and he works well with every character in the game yet people still think he’s bad? lol

Somewhere in this thread I say I want Paul to get a speed buff. His movement is damn sluggish. Paul is a character I’m interested in learning but I like being able to move.

Sorry, but yoshi IS bad. His hit boxes are a joke, except for maybe jump fierce. His dash is like 2 pixels. Almost everything he has is unsafe. Even something like his flea stance, which should function similar to 'sim’s yoga tower, is horribly slow and generally a “punch me” move. I love the character, but he’s just bad
