stage one complete. beginning art, kitty mod, wire these arceye v2s and shine this %$&*# up lol.

what are you guys using to transport this monster around? I’ve been thinking of getting the MadCatz backpack but I don’t think it was designed to fit this stick. Preferably I’m looking for some kind of bag with protection for the stick like the backpack. Or does anybody know if there’s a version of the backpack being made to fit the VS?

Yeah it says that on the store page but I’m just concerned over one of the pics from this review: http://golgotron.com/2011/08/review-mad-catz-arcade-fightstick-carrier/. From the pic, it looks like the original TE and the Round 2s will just barely fit. Given that the VS is even wider, I’m sure you understand my concern
I carry it… if my arm gets tired I use my other arm… when I go long distance I put it in the back of my truck… then I carry it some more when I’m where I wanted to be… sometimes I have someone else carry it… when I have to tie my shoes… but mostly I carry it…
I bought a little wagon for mine. I just roll it around. It’s a radio flier
I think i have the worst luck my v.s stick was broken straight out the box,2 differnt emails later with tickets open and contacting markman23 and still nothing. been trying to get it fixed since may 10. i guess ima have to call madcatz as my last option.
I have loved all of Madcatz’s Arcade Sticks since they started doing these high quality Sanwa joints with the release of SFIV, but I will say that sometimes you just get a lemon. I’ve had bad luck with some of their sticks out of the box. Sometimes I wonder if it’s because UPS is just a bunch of shit heads who throw boxes around or if it’s literally just shoddy craftsmanship. I’d like to think it’s UPS. One of my VS sticks has been acting wonky lately. I’ll turn my system on using the stick and then when everything powers up, the stick will shut off.
If you have a 360 VS stick and you take it to events and tourney’s theres no excuse to not have it dual modded… Toodles just recieved his VS Kitty mod kit for those interested… its brain dead easy to install and its plug and play for both 360 and ps3…

you need to buy the TE Kitty AND the VS harness both for it to work… once again… easiest dual mod you will do…
No, a TE Kitty is more than a dual mod. It opens up a world of retro consoles if people want to explore it.
Sure, the 360 part is easier than attaching a PeeWee or whatever to an MC Cthulu and a 360 pad PCB but the TE Kitty otherwise achieves for the 360 controller what the MC Cthulu does for Sony players — retro goodness! To boot, it achieves the one thing I’ve always wanted but can’t get with the MC Cthulu – solderless connections!
It’s definitely the add-on to get if you’re a 360 owner or happen to buy a 360-exclusive joystick.
It does end up being a bit more than expensive than the MC Cthulu, though. On balance an extra $15 is a small price to pay for not having to futz around with a hot soldering iron and being concerned shorts and all that other nice stuff that can ruin your day…
Whats this?
…
Been messing with the idea of wooden sides for this thing. I am going to leave this test piece on for awhile before i decide. That etch wont be final either, it was just a quick etch of sleeping kirby for the test.
lightning,
That’s so sweet you gave me diabetes!
Dick, that just have me remember; the etching.
You were going to have a run of Custom Wood Cases.
Give some of that Number 2.
I thought you were getting out of the game. What gives?
I really did want to do those but panels became too much so i didn’t maybe i will do a small run or something in the future.
I am but if you have read in my thread I will be going until about the middle of next month unless something happens and I have a little extra time on my hands. This is why all of my products on my site have been discounted and until I leave I will still be adding new products like the Hori SCV. However these wooden sides are just for me and most likely for people I know personally. Too much time and energy goes into those wooden sides to offer them to the masses. Also although I am getting out of the game, I will still be around doing things for myself and from time to time I may offer my services again to the community be it in small batches only.
Got my connector kit in the mail today, ordered my black 6 button plexi panels from Art, gonna go buy some red white and blue buttons and two bat tops this weekend. It’s so on.
So I had put a post few days ago about dualmodding my ps3 vs. I talked to a local modded in the area and he says he can mod it with a kitty te. Does he kno what he’s talking about?? I’ve been reading around and haven’t heard anything like that
Kitty is made for 360 model sticks. Using one on a PS3 model wouldn’t make much sense, and wouldn’t add 360 by itself.
erm… not sure if this was discovered before:
I’ve been given a VS stick to dual mod, and as it’s my first time with this model I thought I’d have a quick play round with it. During this I made the discovery that SE & Brawlstick turbo panels are directly swappable with the VS turbo panel. This was not possible with TE models without some heavy grinding with a Dremel.
Good news for PS3 people who want to convert the format of their stick to 360 so they can get the better dual mod result with a ChImp SMD or Kitty.
EDIT: If people wanted to change the format from PS3 to 360 then taking the boards from an SE stick would be much better. This is because the ribbon cables running to the button terminal strip are much longer in SE sticks than Brawlsticks. The terminal strip in a VS stick is located much further away from the motherboard than in previous MadCaz arcade sticks.
6pin cables taken from a SE stick are just the correct length, though you will need to swap them round on the motherboard.
If transplanting from a Brawlstick then you’ll either need to get longer 6pin ribbon cables with JST plugs, or just solder the wires direct.
^ Bumping for a clarification of the above post.
Having completed the dual modding process, I can say that it was much more difficult than anticipated. To efficiently change the format of the stick to 360 I had to use a 360 Brawlstick turbo panel & motherboard & button terminal strip. Because the ribbon cables running to the strip are 6pin each and very short, I took the long 6pin cables out of a 360 SE stick and swapped them with the shorter cables from the Brawlstick. This in the end worked out fine.
Then to install the PS3 motherboard from the VS stick into the eviscerated Brawlstick I needed to grind down some of the plastic on the Turbo bay panel and drill out the two screw holes. Everything else hooked up as standard.
All in all I can’t help but be disappointed at how awkward these new sticks are to mod. One of the good things about the TE was the abundance of space & plastic to attach motherboards to, with the VS stick the amount of workable space is very limited. There are ways around this of course, just much more fiddly. The plastic feels much more flimsy in these sticks as well, and having to open up the base of the stick to get to the guts is an added frustration.
