^ Bumping for a clarification of the above post.

Having completed the dual modding process, I can say that it was much more difficult than anticipated. To efficiently change the format of the stick to 360 I had to use a 360 Brawlstick turbo panel & motherboard & button terminal strip. Because the ribbon cables running to the strip are 6pin each and very short, I took the long 6pin cables out of a 360 SE stick and swapped them with the shorter cables from the Brawlstick. This in the end worked out fine.

Then to install the PS3 motherboard from the VS stick into the eviscerated Brawlstick I needed to grind down some of the plastic on the Turbo bay panel and drill out the two screw holes. Everything else hooked up as standard.

All in all I can’t help but be disappointed at how awkward these new sticks are to mod. One of the good things about the TE was the abundance of space & plastic to attach motherboards to, with the VS stick the amount of workable space is very limited. There are ways around this of course, just much more fiddly. The plastic feels much more flimsy in these sticks as well, and having to open up the base of the stick to get to the guts is an added frustration.

haha holy shit! you did a damn transplant on that stick! just wanted to know why you didnt just IMPv2 / 360 pcb the VS instead of transplanting all that stuff brother…

A transplant was the only way I could think of achieving this.

Hey guys I’m not sure if its been confirmed I haven’t see anything on it and I’m sorry if you guys have answered this but will a TE Kitty work on a V.S stick? I have a 360 V.S love it and want to dual mod it not good at that stuff myself live in South Carolina so not really anyone around that can do it for me. SOOOOO I’m looking to do it myself and was just wondering if I could use the TE Kitty for it without having any problems.

Check the Kitty thread. You need a different harness for the V.S. which Toodles just got in. There are pics of a V.S. install but he said one of the harnesses was wired wrong.

Damn this stick for the customization possibilities!

Darn Arthong for jumping on the bandwagon and offering plexi options so quickly! LOL

But seriously, these newer joysticks are actually harder to design/customize artwork for… The wider area and placement of the buttons means either you’re using transparent/skeleton buttons when you can, or being ultra-careful with artwork cutouts. (Same issues regardless of Viewlix or Astrocade button arrangement.) Layout is definitely more difficult. It was a lot easier, IMHO, to do custom artwork/collage/photo mods on the the HRAP 1-style cases and Agetecs. If your artwork isn’t wide to begin with or doesn’t have complementary art available, it just doesn’t work in wide format.

P.S. – I already have 3 designs down for the V.S. May do another one… Control panel or something like that even though I prefer character/vehicle art…

Yep. Parts are in, the initial problem with the cables has been fixed and only affected like three people who already have replacements coming. Ive got to work on the instructions now.

Bad ones have all been cleared out of inventory, that problem wont happen again.

Just waiting for my two solid black plexis from Art then it’s on. Already got my buttons and connector kit. It’s gonna make a sweet dual panel with two 6 buttons.

I just got my new panels to start my mod and damn am I having a hard time getting these buttons out. This isn’t my first rodeo and I’ve modded dozens of Madcatz TEs but holycrap these buttons are putting up a fight!

Whats the thickness on those plexis you put on the VS? Are they flushed with the surface of the stick?

It would be nice if it’s not sticking out so much that it will start irritating the wrist.

Where did you get panels for the V.S? If I had to mod my V.S thats what I would do, just straight black panels with six buttons!

I got the panels from Art of Art’s Hobbies. THey aren’t flush but they don’t stick out much plus there is so much space with it being a 6 button set up that they don’t irritate your wrists. GG.

Replacement sides. I ordered the Arthong Side Acrylic kit for the small front and back corner planels. I also waiting on the acrylic kit to use a s a template for inserts.
