Street Fighter X Tekken and the FGC

Here, I will quote MrWizard as if that’s gonna do anything:

“2v2 didn’t kill SFxT, SFxT killed itself”

Yeah, an expected worthless post just as your first was. More nonsense trying to devalue the point of the post than actually offer any useful rebuttal. Worthless troll is worthless, eat a piss sandwich please.

I love the balls out of this game so far. But my only gripe with this game has to do with the DLC. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m more than willing to pay for these characters…BUT I WANT THEM NOW. Both my favorite Tekken characters and SF characters are locked at the moment, and you’re telling me I have to wait four more months until I can play them? I guess I’m the one shooting myself in the foot, going to their threads and watching videos of their trials and shit, but wouldn’t it be soooo much cooler if they dropped in the summer as opposed to when everybody’s going back to school? Damn that Vita release date.

This post is flawed because Shoryuken.com is not the FGC. An even bigger problem is that you are trying to convince people to continue playing a game that they don’t like on SRK.

Quick Lesson about Shoryuken.com: You post on the sections with the games you like and you ignore everything else.

Stop typing stuff and spend more time playing online or some shit. This place isn’t to discuss why we don’t like your game, it is for you to find people that play you like and discuss.

How in the fuck? Do you know how many people hated MvC2, CvS2 and 3S? It isn’t new, it will never be a new phenomenon and it will likely continue: SUCK IT THE FUCK UP.

Yeah basically. People have hated all sorts of games. This could go 3 possible ways

3s where everyone hates it at first then figures it out and likes it

Cfj where it just isn’t good enough to play

Cvs where it sucks but the sequel is good

It’ll sort itself out

That’s overly optimistic I think. A good argument can be made that one of the main reasons for the US having been perpetually free to Japan in 3rd Strike is all the hate that it received in the US while a strong scene that appreciated the game for what it was developed in Japan.

Perceptions of a game’s viability will have real consequences on the game’s community. This should be obvious.

What the Op is really saying: QUIT HATING THINGS I LIKE!!!
This game is ass and deserves all the hate it gets. I understnd some people like the game and that’s fine. Doesn’t mean everyone else has to like it aswell.
And before anyone says something stupid like" you only hate it because you suck at it" i gave the game a fair chance and really put some time into. My personal opinion. It sucks ass. Some people hate. Some people like it. Fuckin deal with it.

Okay, to clear some things up:

While my original post was done pretty quickly, I thought i got the general idea across. Some things might have sounded a little more offensive than they were meant to, my bad.

Im not saying people quit because they were bad, but more the over-saturation of fighting games has made it where if this game isnt fun instantly or doesnt click with you, then its easy to just go back to the game where you are more comfortable. Basically, I feel like a lot of the hate comes from conformity and cognitive dissonance.

For example: People I see who didnt buy the game do not give it a chance because they have to justify their reasoning for not buying it. Or someone is having a hard time doing well in the game when they already have an established career in mvc3 or ae, different games, so its easier to say fuck this game im gonna stick with what I know.Clearly im not saying “YO THIS IS WHY EVERYONE HATES ON THIS SHIT”. Just saying that all these ways add up.

I am not saying “hey you, like this game because I like this game.” Im saying those of you that didnt really give it a chance should reconsider, because I feel the game is fun and there is a lot of undiscovered potential going to waste. In order for it to progress the game needs more support.

Obviously the game isnt for everyone. Im not demanding everyone in the world to go buy it now. I just dont want this bad reputation from the /b/ of the fgc to ruin people’s chances to enjoy a game that has gotten way too much hate.

Hell, I personally do not enjoy marvel 3 one bit. I think that game has way too much silly shit to be considered a competitive game, but I still give it a shot and play it every now and then, and I damn well will never talk shit on it because I clearly dont have the insight a top player does in the game. Im just trying to say a large portion of the people talking shit arent really qualified to do so.

Just go into the game without any biases. I guarantee its better than the reputation its had of lately.

Right, but 3s is actually a good game! It just took the Japanese coming over and showing us how to play it before Americans liked it.

I’m not saying SFxT is necessarily not a good game, but I don’t think we’ll have the same experience here. Now that we have Youtube, it’s a lot easier to see high level players from overseas and how they’re playing the game. It doesn’t seem much different than how we’re playing it. I dunno if we’ll have that same “oh so THAT’S how you play this game” moment like we did with 3s.

Personally I don’t think this game will survive past Evo this year but we’ll see. There are a lot of people pulling for it and wanting to keep playing it so who knows.

That’s what happened with Alpha 2. Japan thought it was ass, US liked it, scene grew for it and US dominated it.

no. maids and schoolgirls fighting aren’t innovative.

I think Sakura is a pretty interesting character.

yeah, because every game has maid and schoolgirls,

Whatttt? You got any more info on this?

As for what we’re talking about here, the main thing I agree with is that too many people are complaining about things that are dissimilar from SF4. The legit concerns I’m all about exposing, but people complaining about throw ranges and wakeup pressure are not going to be pleased when/if the rest of the problems are fixed. I see what they were going for with the attempt to blend the two systems while still keeping it predominately SF style.

The backgrounds and music aren’t my favorite but when I see people going completely ballistic about this, my BS detector starts to fill up. I’ve never liked the VS series - and I’m still going to give UMvC3 another chance one of these days - but I’m not about to start going crazy about stuff in it that really doesn’t matter.

Not to rain on anyone’s parade, but how could anyone like the music from THAT GAME.
It’s horrendous.

Bad synth techno mixed with car rape noises.

I just want someone to tell me what they hear in that music.

Anything that isn’t an eight second loop of terrible jazz is at least a step in the right direction.

Well, I liked almost everything I have seen in this game since I put hands on it. Many disgusting stuff IMO in AE (ridiculous throw ranges, ultras, invincible frames, 50/50 wakeup emphasis) was banned/have less importance, so I found ‘game’s core’ more fun than AE one. It recovers some old fashion I miss in AE (pokes and chains are strong again).

In other hand, is natural that people dislike a newer game with different emphasis. The statements about it are still much biased. And Capcom doesn’t colaborate with this crap DLC and gem thing.

Once bug issues were fixed and game gets mature, I have no doubts that it will be a great sucess. Only my opinion though.

Sorry for my poor english skills.

I find the game decent till now.characters move a little faster than SFIV which is a bonus.

still Rage of the Dragons is better and more polished for a tag team 2d fighter, despite being a few years older.

wait what

how could anyone think SF4 has throws that are too good. SF4 has bad throws. SFxT has ass throws. When you came up playing ST or 3s, throws are actually scary and SF4 throws seem quite manageable in comparison.
