Street Fighter X (Cross) Tekken/Tekken X (Cross) Street Fighter

I hate to say it, but SF is more popular in america, vice versa in japan. Tekken dominates arcade sales there. But hey, I’m a fan of both. I’m happy.

Two years until release eh?

A little goofy of you to yell at people for saying things “they know nothing about” then comment on a game of which you haven’t even watched the video for. Just sayin.

To be fair, it was a poorly worded post towards the beginning. I’m talking more about the gameplay and system. The engine, in terms of graphics and physics looks to be SF4s.

Uh, I did watch the video. Shaky cam footage made it hard to tell that Kaz CD’ed under a fireball. And I’m not yelling…I just get tired of the same old tired “TEKKEN TAG WAS MUCH BETTER HUR DUR!” Meh.

So, a Dimps developed, Namco Bandai published fighting game that’s main draw is the non-original characters brought together using 30s tag team combo attacks?

Street Fighter vs. Tekken: The Anime: The Movie: The Game

As far as I’m concerned, if the gameplay demo is completely unrepresentative of the target product, why the hell show it? If it is, ugh.

The SFIV engine isn’t a rendering framework. When they say this they mean the animation engine, the basic gameplay engine, the physics engine, and to a lesser extent the mechanics currently programmed in, which can be expanded as they were for a couple things in Super. Shit like plinking is inherent to the way the engine handles inputs rather than the setting of a variable, for example.

oh so when you say engine you actually mean something else that isn’t the engine

Very true. I guess they trying to please all the tekken vs SF fan crossover dreams.

The demo itself was pretty interesting.

Tekken X Street Fighter will most likely have an arcade release SFxT will most likely not. Also TxSF will most likely be balanced and SFxT will not.

I wonder what they said to each other in the Intro…?

Ryu: You done goofed
Kazuya: Consequences for your words will NEVER be the same!

Yeah, all snide comments from everyone aside. It’s fair to say that Capcom and Namco have effectively shocked the FGC.

I’m saying that things like walkspeed, arena size, gravity and jump arcs are not hardcoded, but probably configurable through a visual editor or script files. Move priorities(which causes crouch option select to work if I’m not mistaken?), inputs(+shortcuts), damage, invic frames, cancels etc are of course simply defined in some sort of move editor.
But yeah, plinking and negative edge and things like that are probably part of how the engine handles inputs and not a variable.

I’m also saying that the visual style of a game will always be determined by the artists. The only impact engines(to which I would count renderers, but of course it can be separate) have on visual style is in it’s limits, like how many polygons it can handle, if it supports shaders etc etc

No one can say “the characters in this game looks like SFIV characters because it uses the same rendering engine as SFIV” or “this game is slow and defensive and you can mash out shoryus because it’s based on SFIV engine”. My point was simply that you can’t blame the engine for these sort of things :china:

Huh? So people can’t favor one game over another now?

lol I think FG community is shocked in general about all of this news.
MvC3, AH3(console), and now these two games.

Hell we got MK9 coming too.

I think it’s the “MY GAME WAS BETTER THAN YOUR GAME BUT I WILL NEVER EXPLAIN WHY” attitude he’s beefing at.

See that’s why the producer of Tekken is taking care of the 3D fighting…:bluu:

Zangief VS Kuma OH MY GAWD GIVE ME 50 COPIES PLZ

Well, to an extent they do, because the SFIV engine is designed around animating and lighting for that art style. You chuck a Tekken character model in there and it will look retarded. It has the shaders for that art style.

They could completely fuck with the game speed, move properties, and all that though. They haven’t yet particularly, yet felt compelled to show it, which suggests they intend to pretty much keep the gameplay SFIV based because of its popularity (if they could flick the “jab chains to strong” switch to show chain combos, they could flick a lot of others for intended features)

I’m gonna be broke as shit man.
