These ā€œbehind the scenesā€ shots are awesome, Furious!

im more impressed by the sets than anything else.

In that young Ken pic, is that young Ryu to the left of him? If so, heā€™s got a white bandana on, which is not part of canon since Ken gives him the red bandana. Presumably it gets damaged or torn and Ken gives him the red bandanna as a replacement (Iā€™m assuming?).

The white headband IS canon, Ken gives the red headband to Ryu in ā€˜SF: Alpha 2ā€™ and suppose to wear it in ā€˜Alpha 3ā€™. Ken gave the red headband to Ryu as more of a reminder to always stay focus (kinda like a brotherly advice).

The question I have right now for the white headband is, to whom does Ryu give it to? Sakura?

The only accurate to games I think is the SFII V Series. Funny thing is that Akuma makes a cameo in every episode, like in baggage claim and shit

Naw SF V is way off, not that Street Fighter has enough narrative meat to actually fill out a decently lengthed show without going off cannon script.

SFIIV is dope but nowhere close to accurate lol

Anyone who saw SFA Generations knows what that scene is referencing. While Generations wasnā€™t that great, the aftermath of seeing a SGS in action was one of the highlights of the movie. They even have the young Gouki vs young Gouken match too. Good too see what may be a young Gouki. Itā€™s one of my favorite things about SF. Udon did a pretty nice young Gouki in the 2nd issue and is still my favorite appearance of him in his youth. The SF Origins Akuma book did an okay job but either ignored several things or did a bad job like how Gouki kills Goutetsu and no explaination for the SnH.

I mostly liked the book for the artworks, the story was just so disappointing. There were many things missing in the book. They stripped many of the characteristics and qualities that made Akuma an intriguing SF character. I agree with you on the lack of explanation for the ā€˜Satsui no Hadouā€™ since that is the integral and fundamental part of Gouken/Goukiā€™s fighting style. The lack of full reasoning behind the ā€˜Ansatsukenā€™ style and Goukiā€™s motives really made the book feel short.

I hope they would explain a lot in ā€˜Street Fighter: Assassinā€™s Fistā€™. I canā€™t wait.

Agree mostly with this. By far the best Street Fighter Anime Adaptation ever bar none. The animation was almost always superb, but the choreography in that anime in my opinion to this day is some of the Best Fight Sequences Iā€™ve ever seen in any Anime before or since, period. I actually rank the SF fight scenes in the top-3 if not top-2 or 1. Most animes you just see complete aggression or flashes, which is really cheap nonsense.

However in SF2:Anime to see someone like Ryu utilize arm and leg traps as well as countersā€¦it was amazing. Also the Hadouken in SF2:AM is by far the coolest looking incarnation ever animated. In the Sagat fight I loved seeing how Ryu slowly builds the ki by just a slight subtle electrical spark going down his arm, then it starts to pick up into a raging force.

Canon wise I understand why they donā€™t utilize this anymore but it would still be cool to see some of that ā€œelectrical lookā€ references. Maybe someday when they do another SF anime w/ Ryu utilizing the Denjin-Hadouken we can see another resurgence of that because the D-Hadouken looks alot at least aesthetics wise to the Hadouken in SF2:AM.

One of my biggest gripes w/ anime fight sequences now is how they utilize special moves nearly through a good portion of the tenure, even newer SF anime adaptations have fallen prey to this. The Fatal Fury anime series was infamous for doing this, I swear Terry Bogard throw out specials 90% of the time. It was great to see in SF2:AM that they only utilized the supers as mainly finishers. Itā€™s like a dance, you slowly build the momentum to the climax, not throw out your best tools right at the get go, then later on the dance just doesnā€™t feel as powerful anymore.

SF2:AM in my opinion is one of those animes where even watching it now nearly 17 years later, and having it still stand the test of time. Many animes from 10 or even 5 years ago if you try watching it now just looks and flows terribly, but SF2:AM w/ itā€™s artwork, fluidity, and without question some of the greatest fight scenes ever produced for an animeā€¦I Love It.

Just sad itā€™s gone down hill since then in terms of the anime presentations. Although sample pieces have been amazing, like that Ryu vs Gouki anime trailerā€¦Loved It!

As for Street Fighter Assassinā€™s Fist. Iā€™m always a huge skeptic as with ANY fighting game being transitioned into Real Actors because obviously it hasnā€™t been done right for the Street Fighter series at all. However from the actors of choice, the background props/stages, the cinematographyā€¦I have to say that Iā€™m very hyped for this. As stated, the canon storyline of SF already has the foundation and if you simply follow itā€™s essence then it will be great in my opinion.

I love the still shots thus far, my only dissatisfaction is that it canā€™t come out soon enough.

An update from the desk of Akuma
