My question right now for CAPCOM is, do they now acknowledge ‘Gouki/Akuma’ as Ryu’s father? Even though the ‘ALPHA GENERATIONS’ anime was a slight disappointment, the entire Ryu/Akuma paternal link shown there is an interesting plot twist.
Since ‘Sayaka’ is in the series and also with the recent rumors and speculations whether or not the 5th character will indeed be her, does that also mean CAPCOM acknowledges the story in ‘AG’ and in ‘Assassin’s Fist’ as CANON?
i thought all anime movies were canon…since they were overseen by capcom. i remember talking to a manga rep at a anime con and he was convinced generations was going to be canon…mind you this was before it came out and they only had a poster printed at the time…gives you an idea how far back it was.
but sf2 was definitely infused into the street fighter mythos later on.
Not exactly. CAPCOM would only infused storylines from certain animes into their games if the plot would bring interesting results to the current storyline. Like the original 1994 anime, much of the stuff there became the basis for the ‘Alpha’ games. The entire ‘Alpha Generations’ anime wasn’t canon, but some of the plots told there, were implied in SF4, specifically the ‘Ryu/Akuma’ link.
There are already several Street Fighter 2 anime movies and a 29-episode anime TV series, known as Street Fighter 2: Victory. All of them were released back in the 1990s.
I’m not referring to the Street Fighter 2 cartoon that was also aired on USA Network in that era.
I really enjoyed the first few volumes, but quickly after Ryu learns the Hadou and Bison gets introduced things start going bad, so much recycled animation to the point that it’s just plain laziness. I remember being pissed off about how Ken ends up mastering the hadou. Character design and music was the best thing about it though.
I take that this is Gouken in the aftermath of the ‘Gouki vs. Goutetsu’ fight. Awesomeness. My birthday just ended and this pic completely made my day more worth it.
