I have a question :
Is the actor for Gouki the same at the beginning and at the end ? He looks so different.

joey is akuma, the asian actor is gouki. 2 different people playing the 2 different transformations of gouki
Yeah, final stage doesnāt really look like Joey at first but the mouth gave it away. As did the training. I like how Gouki goes fishing. Who needs a rod and bait?
That cameo.
Watched all the episodes. The ending was not what I expected, but other than that, AF is brilliant.
Megaman 2. Too much
I didnāt say who he was on purpose to keep it vague but Iāll put it in spoilers anyway.
Just finished itā¦Pretty damn good IMO. The way that last episode ended though feels like itās lacking conclusion.
Edit:
concerning the ending
The reason being I feel for this feeling Iām having is probably because the confrontation between Gouken and Akuma had been building throughout the series but then the story cuts off right before we get to it. That would have been a nice climax to the story followed by Ryu and Kenās dealing with the aftermath before the cut off. If more of this is coming in the future though? I can absolutely live with this.
Ansah and co did a fine job respecting the source material and treating it seriously. I absolutely enjoyed this and am pretty much hungry for more. I wish this series as much attention and views as it can get so that more of this can be done in the future. See this hollywood? You donāt need a super ridiculous budget to get stuff done.
Alsoā¦did Ansah do Akumaās voice? He does a pretty damn good impression of him if he doesā¦reminds me of 3rd Strike/CVS 2 Akuma.
Just minutes ago I finished the last episode.
HOLY CRAP this wouldāve blown minds if this is what came to theatres instead of the JCVD movie.
Ep.11 has several subtitle errors, one with the wrong symbols and another that shouldnāt have even showed up.
[details=Spoiler]ā¦and WTF was with the horrible make up job right at the start of Ep.12 with Ryu? That was like
totally amatuer after all the other shit that was golden!?
Also, I totally cracked up when I saw Ono-san cameo in there! Nice one you guys I did not see that one coming! ^_^[/details]
~K.
Yeh I noticed those errors as well, Iām not sure what happened because everything seemed fine before.
Also regarding ep12 same not sure what went on there.
Just finished it. It was awesome, wow.
I really liked the whole Hado story arc before this show, but now I like it even more.
Makes you wonder why all the previous production on Street Fighter were about Chun Li and Guile versus Bison really.
FREAKING AWESOME!!!
I wouldnāt mind a season focused on Chun Li and Charlie. I think itās too fast to rush into World Warrior without establishing stories for some of the more important characters. Still need the epic Ryu vs Sagat fight too.
[details=Spoiler]Aaaaaah Yoshinori Ono! lool.[/details]Ah I was laughin to much. Spoilered it. Sorry.
webm from the series
I can easily see this being abused for other things.
Just finished it. Best stuff in the world, my feels were destroyed in the last episode.
Shun Goku Satsu vs Metsu Hadouken was hype as shit. Also, Onoās guest appearance was the best! haha
Now⦠whenās season 2? :((
I just got done watching this with my brothers and Iā¦This is Amazing.
There may have been some corny parts here and there, with some of the acting parts not being great at times, however when you consider the budget was only around 3 million dollarsā¦this was INCREDIBLE.
My Take
[details=Spoiler]The Cinematography in this movie was superb period. The locations that they had on here made me getting chills and goosebumps. The home of Master Goutetsu/Gouken looked fairly similar to the one you saw in Street Fighter II : The Animated Movie, which was splendid because it gave you a sense of beauty, simplicity and the peaceful atmosphere. The river or lakeside in which Ryu and Ken would train at which would also bew here the two would face one another was also spectacular, and one of my absolutely favorite locations. Goukiās Cave was one of the most jaw droppin shot because I had only imagined like a small cave entrance about possibly 8-10 feet high at most and maybe 10-15 feet in length however the entrance of the cave in the series had to of toward well over 15 feet in height.
What also really got to me was the absolute size of the interior which had me completely blown me away. I for one was sold on the fact that someone like Gouki could in fact live here for a greater part of those years and train to become the Absolute Satsui-No-Hadou master he would one day be.
Joey as Akuma was ridiculous. He definitely had the physique to back it up and how he looked was much better then what I had anticipated. Whomever did the voice for Akuma if it was Joey or someone else was also great. Iāve always been a fan of that strong, low and stern voice for Akuma in the games so it was nice to see that this was carried into the series.
When it came to the Actors, Mike Moh and Christian Howard for the most part did a solid job, although I feel that the two can definitely improve because their was times in which it felt rather cheesy at some points with their dialogue. So Iām hoping that when they jump back on again for Season 2 that their acting abilities would be much more improved. Again, I donāt want this to be viewed as a negative aspect, considering that this is a low budget film movie, with Mike and Christian for the most part being stuntmen and not directly actors.
With improvement I believe theyāll bring out an even stronger portrayal of Ryu and Ken. I will say that this did not hinder the movement of the story and character development as I felt they stayed very faithful to the characters persona.
Christian nailed Ken right on the money with the swagger and the flamboyant attitude. Some of my most memorable scenes were of Ken cussing out āDamn Straight! Itās about freaken time he taught us how to do that!ā and his battle with wits vs that Old Hermit was priceless! While Mike gave Ryu (My most beloved SF character) the calm, subtle and soft spoken attitude that Ryu personifies in the game. One of my absolutely favorite scenes was just of him out during the night with the perfect music theme to go along while he held nothing back in unleashing the Hadouken. This scene which required little to no words from Ryu but only his presence with the dance like movement into the Hadou formation from the voice of Gouken made it one of my favorite scenes in the series.
Both Mike and Christian brought forth a real kinship that I felt was real on screen because as we all know that Ryu and Ken have spent years together so it felt very believable that they had nobody else except their Master and each other while living out in these outskirts. When it was time for both to leave their Master, I did feel it inside that they had been there for a long time and that leaving was indeed a sad moment.
Shogen, Gaku, Hyonri were Incredible! Their scenes which takes place at the time when Gouki had not fully succumbed to Satsui-No-Hadou was amazing. Their emotions were great, especially Gaku whom had to portray the transition of his persona when reaching into Satsui-No-Hadou. Shogen and Gouki had incredible portrayals in here, especially during their fight and the relationship with Hyonri. Having more acting experience then Mike and Christian they displayed a much stronger presence and to me it was credited with some beautiful moments. When they were on screen, it didnāt look like a small budget film at all, because they were that good.
After seeing Togo Igawa playing as Goutetsu I really cannot see anyone else every playing this role again. He was absolutely spot on and his presence was imposing and assertive, but yet as embracing, gracious, kind and humble as a Master should be. He absolutely was believable as a Master, and gave you the presence that although he was now and old man, his mastery of Ansatsuken was in its absolute prime.
Akiraās role to me was in many cases a huge focal point if not the focal point of this all, since he is the lineage of the past as well as connecting into the future of Ryu and Ken. It is because of him in my opinion that the series was done so well since one could argue that this 1st season was rather really about Gouken with his past tragedy to the new successors whom will bridge on his teachings. Because of this very reason, had Akira failed on the acting, I truly really believe the movie wouldāve gone done the gutter. However because of his strong portrayal as well as his emotional side near the end of the movie, I truly felt for Gouken and what he clearly sacrificed for the greater good.
From the SF games, I was never a huge Gouken fan, and I had always thought he was a cool character, but after Akiras representation of him, Iāve gain a much, much greater respect for the character Gouken.
Ono making a Cameo had me ROLLING! His antics were simply amazing and his āfight!ā comments was like Stan Lee in all the Marvel movies. I feel this should become a STAPLE with Ono always making an appearance now much like Stan Lee, Please Make It Happen! Also Easter Eggs with Dan, and Megaman was priceless!!! Seeing Ryu and Ken playing a Nintendo and even having Gouken chiming in made tears run down my eyes.
Once again, only a few cheesy moments here in there with dialogue, and the Shungokusatsu didnāt have quite as good of the effects on it to my liking, but overall still a great series.
Iām hoping that they keep this cast intact because if they are allowed to stay together then itāll only become better for Season 2. Now Iām looking forward to what happens (although I already knew from the Street Fighter Canon side but still!) with Ryu and Ken. Not to mention the other SF cast weāve been waiting for like Chun Li, Guile, Sagat and possibly even M. Bison?
If Joey and Christian could pull this off with 3million? Imagine what they could give to us the fans with a 100 million dollar budget? Street Fighter would BECOME the Best Video Game to Live Action Movie Ever. Then it would silence everyone whom would say that it canāt be done. I truly hope this is something that will lead to even greater things. Possibly a Big Time Budget Movie deal with these guys in which I would fall on my knees for.
**What I love the most about this, was that although the fighting is a big part of the deal, I Mean itās Street Fighter, but the friendships, brotherhood, the emotional aspects of the characters, the paths in which each individual took, and the importance of family is what really made this series that much better, the fighting was just the cherry on top. **
My Final Verdictā¦
8.5 out of 10 For Me.[/details]
All I can say is thisā¦when you Respect the Lore of the already established & beautiful storyline of Street Fighter, and you carry the essence of it. Only Great Things can come out of it.
Street Fighter Assassinās Fist is the BEST Realistic Incarnation of Street Fighter ever created! You FINALLY did Street Fighter Justice. Now hereās to hoping that Seasons 2 gets an even bigger budget so it can be even more spectacular!
PS: Please bring back all of the Actors from this first season back season 2. I would hate to see replacements, since Iāve already been attached to these actors playing these characters.
Brilliant review TrueSephiroth, I agree with you on all of your points. Akuma was all Joey! They did some clever sound editing to that overlayed Gakuās voice as well. Some of my favourite scenes were with Gaku, Akira does a splendid job portraying master and father figure. Togo really showed his range (the banishment scene is just electrifying), I had no idea he could do comedy as well lol.
Variety have just posted an article
Iāve only watched the first episode and love it so far. It makes want to see other mini-series of other characters like Charlie and Guile up until Alpha 2/3 shenanigans, Cammy post SF2 dealing with the scars of being a Doll complete with flashback scenes, Chun Li from 3S era as a mother like figure to Yun and Yang, Sagatās history up until Ryu scars him, etc. Shit is so crispy.
And the cool thing is that if a big hong kong sized budget could be amassed we could have an amazing movie from these guys. That could be just the entirety of SF2 or Alpha 3. Leaving the miniseries to fill out key character back stories so a movie could focus on the tournaments and why they are so life changing for everyone.
Someone posted this on facebook
Yep, total GIF fodder. Canāt wait.
Iād love to see Joey & the crew do movies for all the major characters. Theyāre the first people in the film industry to āgetā Street Fighter.
I forgot to add in my previous post that I really liked the katas.
Aaaaahā¦Fuckā¦Fuckin shit that was so god damn good. Hope we get a lot more of this.
He needs to take this to a networkā¦fuck canāt he try spike?
