Street Fighter V sales thread... Serious discussion please

For real, me and my friend who I played SF4 frequently with haven’t been able to get a single game in together because of lobby issues. It’s a serious fuck up when we can’t even get a game between friends. We’ve been frequently trying to remedy the issue with port forwarding and a bunch of other shit that turned out to be useless. He’s one of the only dudes I enjoy playing long sets with as well, we’re very evenly skilled and it’s always super close between us.

Lobbies and matchmaking in general also need the option to filter region, like so fucking badly I can’t even begin to describe how many US/Japanese players have joined my fucking lounge and left immediately because the search option doesn’t show your fucking flag on the lobby list!

Doubt it. Microsoft would have put KI on PS4 or WiiU a long time ago as well if that was in their heads now. Even if it bombs they like all the money going to them.

Agreed , I picked up a healthy amount of great online opponents who I would regularly cycle in endless lobby’s. I assumed the transition would be like us all moving to a new house party. In reality SF5 turns out like half them got arrested , some got drunk and lost , some just died and you’re left with that one guy that you didn’t really like anyway…

When we were still having problems on the 4th unscheduled beta and the trailer for the game modes didn’t mention the battle lounge, the idea of a house party should have went away.

You never played any fighter other than SF for 25 years? You might like KOF.

The brutal honesty of that final statement. I actually have literally that scenario, half of them are M.I.A, one decided to get married and ditch the FGC, one I just flatout can’t play with and god forbid the people I actually can play with fucking suck now, half of the lounges I’ve had between friends are between Bronze-Ultra Bronze. No offence to them, but it isn’t fun bodying people 24/7 that have an obvious skill gap so I’ve barely played since release day, stacked up 60 hours week one and I’ve barely been playing it since then.

Hope none of them visit the SRK forums…I’ve been sandbagging against a couple of friends to entertain myself, see if I can win only with jabs, DPs, tatsu only. Shit like that to spice it up. You know who you are if you’re reading this.

Fuck you StayPleb.

I’m a Redskins fan too and since RG3 has been drafted I’ve decided to vote with my wallet. I’ve refused to go to any games until they have some structure, which it now looks like they do with the new GM. I’ve bought a couple jerseys, but they came straight from China for $21 shipped so danny boy didn’t get a cent from me.

I’m gonna be Po Pimpus and tell you to not go back to that stadium. You’ll just be disappointed again. Just drive to New England so you can watch a good team play.

I used to play all the old school fighters including Tekken, but in the last 8 years now I have a family I’ve only got the time to put in for one. I could play more, but I’m the type of person that would rather study and be good at one, rather than mediocre across a bunch.

You’re the opposite of my brother. He just loves playing everything for a short amount of time but particularly plays anime games.

He started out yesterday playing SFV for about 20 minutes in training mode. Did a few random corner combos over and over in the corner with Karin. Got bored of that then did some random corner combos with a character named Al in Nitro Plus for 2 and a half hours straight.

Honestly I would be amazed if ragequitting was addressed in this months patch, and it pains me to say it. They are already on such a tight schedule and they have so many problems right now I would be very surprised if they got to actually fixing things outside of the scheduled March releases.

I wouldn’t say anti-consumer, but I would definitely saying being hypocritical and not having the best priorities…

I.E. Saying that this is mainly to get casuals to “Rise Up” and become part of the competitive circuit only to rush the game so badly that no casual is really going to make the effort to “Rise Up”(seriously, no true tutorial like KI/DOA5U/Skullgirls? No basic modes that every other Fighting Game has done to get peoples’ feet wet, no True Story Mode and the Prologue being the wreck that it is to get people vested in the lore?)

And even online is a mess with no true punishment for rage quitters till recently and even then, it barely feels like a true punishment past losing points that could possibly be easily recovered and even then, you have to record and send the matches to Capcom first…
2 player Lobbies instead of atleast 8 Players with no Spectator anything for people to learn off of and spotty at best online.

Capcom messed up because of Capcom and that seriously cannot be said enough nor refuted.

The game really is a disaster and isn’t the best SF game i’ve ever played or even close. It just feels like a bad product at this point. I think every person that avoided this game is better off than the people who bought it (excluding the pros who make a hustle off of it).

Among the many problems is that they had one job and fucked it up.

The assumption is that they left out… well… everything to concentrate on getting the literal basics right. They had the beta phases and stress tests, they looked like they knew what they were doing. We expected it to actually work.

I think SF5 could have withstood the lack of content if the servers worked. They didnt. They bet the farm on an always on infrastructure, they royally messed it up and as good as the game is, it couldn’t withstand two separate catastrophes.

The right thing to do is, obviously, win people back with free content but this is capcom, so it wont happen.

It wouldn’t have been a complete debacle if they focused on the basics and the basics were completely functional on launch. What really got people is that the basics weren’t even working correctly so Capcom literally had zero leverage for launch.

I believe they have much more room to recover than some think, but yes the launch was at least as bad as SFxT. Arguably worse. Just luckily this is SF and not some side crossover game so people will play it for the sake of SF.

If there’s anything that deserves the low sales, its the 50 second wait times from the moment the match is announced to when you are actually playing and the. An extra 50 seconds to get back into training mode from when you hit to go back to training mode and you are actually there.

Releasing an unfinished game is the biggest mistake they could have done. Screw Evo this is Capcom name & financial on the line. Who’s idea was it to released the game early?

I don’t even understand what keeps the game from dumping you back out to your previous location immediately. Is it that vs. screen with the globe hanging it up or is that just a time waster and the game just loads that slow? Even the short song that plays during it doesn’t sync up most of the time.

The problem is almost certainly communication timeouts. The game doesnt appear to do literally anything without reporting back to base and the infrastructure just cant handle the load and the game cant handle to latency.

Its actually pretty incredible how badly both ends are coping. I really cant see how/why this apparently vital information cant be transmitted in the background during the match or, y’know, when you are sat in training doing nothing.

Have some fucking patience, for fuck’s sake. The first freakin’ patch isn’t even out yet, and you’re behaving like this is the end of the world or end of the line.

Get a fucking grip.

Enjoy the game, or return it and just shut the fuck up!!!

Return the game and relieve our community of your God-damned bitching left and fucking right, you miserable freaking worms of a community.

Look you bumblefuck, if you want to be a hilarious stan for the game that’s fine. The gameplay is pretty alright. But while I’ve advocated patience for a lot of the other features which would get the least amount of use, the fact is that there are basic things that have been punted to hell and back.

Loading a match shouldn’t take 50 seconds. Coming back from a match shouldn’t take 50 seconds. If somebody rage quits on you its means you spent 1:40 waiting for a half assed match. I played around 10+ matches yesterday. That means that in between going back and forth waiting for the game to get to the match and back from it, I spent 10 minutes waiting around doing jack shit. As a matter of fact, after my best friend and I decided to time this nonsense, we actually got a trophy for waiting.

XRD doesn’t take this long, Skullgirls doesn’t take this long, MKX doesn’t take this long IIRC, and KI doesn’t take this long. That means that out of the next gen fighting games available, SFV is the one dragging along where waiting for things is a more than legitimate issue. This also means that drag just from going to character select screen to chill.

This is a legitimate concern where people have a right to complain. That is also a complain that affects this community. HOLD IT.
