KI had it’s problems initially, but goddamn these games went into planning production stage around the same time, KI released, has been playable as it progressed for over two years, while switching fucking developers before the first season even finished, and has a much lower budget and a much smaller team. It still literally SHITS ALL OVER SFV in every way. It’s main problem seems to be not being called Capcom Fighting Breakers, if SFV launched with that games feature-set, performance and even half the amount of effort IG seems to put into the game, you would have a REASON to be dickriding Capcom this hard.

Though yes, in 2016 KI does a better job of getting someone new in. Not by a whole lot since that game still doesn’t give much for a single player casual to do, but at least it’s cheaper.

You can list all of these things that make Season 2 KI so much better than SFV, but those things will equaled or surpassed soon enough by Capcom and more people will be going to tournaments for it regardless.

I’m not even sure how many PC reviewers are going to be even willing to even review KI Season 3 and even if they do that’s no guarantee the game is going to make millions of dollars and people won’t be disappointed by lack of controller support and all of the restrictions that come with launching on Windows 10. It’s not going to be a perfect launch for them either.

I’m not throwing KI under the bus, I definitely think they did a much better job overall with catering to competitive players than MKX did, but its not going to touch MKX sales because of a PC port. For now, neither will SFV. If you’re just talking about surviving and putting the next meal on the table, KI will be fine for that. SFV will keep putting meals on the table for now and we’ll see what happens in the future.

People make multiple PSN accounts and run them on 1 purchased copy of the game. I can name players that stream their second and third alt accts in SF5, like PrRog, Paul B, etc.
SF5 was #5 for PSN downloads in February, it’s only sold 124K worldwide on Steam, it opened in 4th in Japan, 2nd in the UK with lower than expected sales week 1, then it plummeted to 10th in sales week 2. So in every possible category that has been reported it did poorly in sales. You can cling to inflated online player numbers that multiple alternate user accounts (I have 5+ alt accts on PS3 myself) artificially increase, or just accept that the game has sold poorly on PSN and Steam, as well as in all reported retail outlets.

Meh, it’s a wash on the stick support thing if you wanna bring that up, Madcatz, Capcom or Sony released that update that lets the official SFV stick to be used on PC without third party program yet? X1 stick support coming in update later is regrettable, but less of blow compared to the rest of the game coming out in an update later for PC players. Everyone has 360 sticks anyways, it’s wat they’re using to play SFV on PC. I doubt the Windows 10 issues will be as predominant as Capcom fucking up the entire game and netcode with SFV.

SFV will obviously survive, as it will draw the most tournament viewers so they can watch the COMPETITION between the players playing, rather than anything the game does itself. I like watching the competition. I know I’m not spending another dime on this fucking game ever, I’m having a hard time even renewing PSN+ just to keep playing it, it’s THAT forgettable at this point. Now imagine that sentiment for buyers who are on the fence about FGs anyways.

Then the criticism for how KI’s free to play model works…are u guys just insane? You don’t get to test all the characters at once, but you do get, IDK, run through the character’s story mode, beat up the CPU, try out shadow mode, try out the dojo mode, see wat the training mode offers, try the game out online…you know…stuff that entices new players into the game and see if it’s something they want to invest in.
Worked for Dota2, worked for LoL, would have worked brilliantly for SFV, if not for the combination of Capcom being greedy, and counting on fans to basically just be stupid and fall in line because “Bruh, it’s SFV”
