Street Fighter V sales thread... Serious discussion please

And I am the retard?

First you say there is no Story Mode, now you admit there is but that it’s not up to your expectations.

Secondly you said that new players “need” Arcade Mode to jump in and get acquainted with the characters - this is what Story Mode and Survival Mode serve in purpose.

Your “Arcade Mode” with a boss at the end (you freaking wack-job), will come in June.

I had this issue as well, in the first 3 days of SFV.

On the fourth day, Capcom had fixed it.

It’s unfortunate that you’re still having this problem when you’ve paid for the game and you want to play it online.

You can either get a refund, or you can wait and see when it gets resolved.

But don’t be a juvenile prick who has to shit all over the review-sites, just because you’re not satisfied.

Cope with it more rationally.

Maybe the product simply isn’t for you.

This is akin to somebody refusing to sell you a Ferrari, and you in turn calling the Ferrari a piece of junk.

Cope with it more rationally. Either it gets resolved by Capcom, or there is something that you have to resolve on your own end.

I’m sick of the “angry gamers” who’ve tainted the release of SFV, and possibly hurt its potential.

If you’re having a problem, then inform Capcom in a rational way.

Too many have behaved like repulsive brats in reviews and even here on Shoryuken.

No. You are the narrow-minded imbecile.

Arcade Mode and Survival Mode are both modes against the CPU.

Story Mode has the story-portion, and Survival Mode has the challenge-portion.

Is the color blue green if the word for it is green? That’s how genius you are right now.

Yes, we. But what about them?

Everything Casuals need to last a few days, let alone a few weeks is not here. SF5 has no hook, no appetizers, or condiments. It’s a burger with only the bread and the patty, and nothing else. People are complaining why we don’t have lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. Where is our melted cheese they are saying. You and others are responding that they should be happy with their bread and patty, because the bread is gourmet and the patty is wagyu beef. Because the bread and patty are basically all they will need to last 6 years, right?

No, they are not.

SFV’s focus has been on gameplay and aesthetics.

So the burger tastes great, and looks great, and even sounds great.

But there are no fries, and imbeciles want their fries, even though the burger is more than enough to fill your appetite. And fries are strictly speaking not part of a fucking hamburger anyway!!!

In fact, it’s ONE HUNDRED BURGERS AND ONE HUNDRED SODAS, because once you’ve had your burger, you might want to take another one in the form of online play, and maybe another and another.

Get the fuck outta here with your freaking petty complaints.

You can try to defend this game as much as possible but right now you’re fighting a losing battle.

  1. it’s not selling well which is the point of this thread. Nothing you say is going to change the fact that game sales are below their expectations, the community didn’t do this to Capcom, Capcom did it to themselves.

  2. it’s not a complete game at all. This has been confirmed. If it was complete they wouldn’t be adding a full story later or additional modes it should have had at launch (which every other game has)

  3. I thought you were trolling, I was giving you the benefit of doubt but nope you’re actually serious. You’re the type of player Capcom can always count on for a sale regardless of how bad or incomplete the product is.

IMO a lot depends on how quickly the March updates roll out.

Basic 1v1 matchmaking and what we have has been enough for a few weeks but we need something more substantial. Larger lobbies, Alex and rage quit fixes will go a long way.

Alternative methods for getting the additional colors is a common complaint I see. Even putting them in the shop would be helpful

That was Iron Galaxy Florida, nothing good ever comes out of Florida.

Iron Galaxy Chicago is the team doing KI, and they are handling the port in house. They don’t know or work with anyone on the IG Florida team

Season 1 maybe, but Season 2/3 features? Short of a full cinematic story mode, it’s basically a working template of features EVERY fighting game should be copying.

  1. This is the fault of the retards with a foot in the door of the community
  2. It’s a complete game, because just as I desired, I can play a fair, fun and competitive game online with minimal lag and maximum number of players
  3. I never thought you were smart

Don’t get me wrong, dude. I still love the game and play it every day. Even after purchasing MKXL, I’m still coming back to SFV because I love the game.

The main reason why we’re all complaining is because us consumers had to pay 60 dollars for a game that is incomplete.

Yes, we have a story mode, but it is lackluster. It’s short, easy, can be completed 100% in an hour. And even though the main cinematic one will come in June, what we got to start is just underwhelming, despite Ono promising that they would pay more attention to it.

The main difference between Arcade Mode and Survival mode is there is a “boss” at the end with an ending in Arcade Mode. People want a sense of accomplishment for familiarizing a character instead of having to grind on survival mode. Granted, they are both against CPU opponents, but arcade mode has always been a staple for all fighting games.

A large number of the SF consumers are casual player who just want to first and foremost: enjoy the game. Where there is a lack of stuff to enjoy, there will be complaints. Not all of us like to enjoy SF playing online. At least with MK you had a load of content in addition to playing online: you had the number of finishers (fatalities, brutalities, even the x-ray are sweet eye candy), Tower/arcade mode (+ multiple variations of it: endless, Test your might/luck), the krypt to unlock stuff, and finally a COMPLETED story mode.

With MKX, we got what we paid for on release. That’s a different story compared to SFV. 60 dollars for gameplay and graphics just isn’t enough.

All we just ask is that we get our money’s worth upon release instead of having to wait months for content before we get what we paid for.

When February NPD data comes out later this month, I expect SFV to barely chart. And keep in mind this is with no other big releases. 100-200k would shock me, absolutely shock me, and I think that might be good for a #10 spot. Here’s hoping, no, praying I’m wrong.

I appreciate your dignified tone of discussing.

I still disagree.

I believe that the resources on Capcom’s side were poured into the gameplay.

Is it not so that SFV is more engaging and interesting than MKX? It doesn’t come out of thin air. It takes planning, discussing and a lot of testing.

Because I primarily play online, I am perfectly happy with the amount of content, plus with more coming soon.

My primary concern is a fun, fair and balanced competitive set of rules and characters, and I think this part of SFV is grossly underappreciated. That’s what’s really, really, seriously bugging me about all of these simpleton-complaints over shallow things like a freaking Arcade Mode with a freaking final boss.

NG1313-> Okay, switch my argument from “no story mode” to “story mode sucks ass and won’t bring/keep any players.”

Look at the hundreds of reviews from the Amazon link I posted. The lack of arcade and remotely decent story matters.

Challenge: Tell me the premise of this game.

Survival is not arcade. Idk why you keep trying to push that. No difficulty setting that doesn’t raise your fight count, no boss and no variety and who you play.

Wait till June? Yeah because that’s toootally reasonable for a game released in February. Thatll get sales.

I checked your profile and your spam count leads me to believe that shinebox was right about you being a troll, but I thought I’d reply just in case. The reviews Amazon reviews are right there. “Nothing to do” is what they are yelling. The survival threads are right there. Ask their opinion of it.

well good for you that you can play and enjoy it

tons of people still have huge problems with the game

I guess if you had to wait 20 minutes to then get a match against someone from across the globe or not find a game at all, you wouldnt be so elite and complain about the filthy casuals?

its a barebone release with its main focus not working. people have every right to complain and capcom deserve every bit of bad reviews and shitty sales

No, I can’t switch your argument midway.

Most of my spam-flags are from an argument with the same guy. I just checked for myself. And it’s only 12 over an 11 year period.

Secondly, I would easily discredit those spam-flags over the fact that I’ve disagreed with them possibly to the same extent as I’m disagreeing with your bashing of SFV right now.

Why would a bunch of spam-flaggers be more right than me? Get a fucking clue. I’m discussing something, and you see some people have disagreed with me in the past, and that’s your argument? Then go ahead and jump off a bridge if “everybody else is”.

Yes, wait until June, or return the fucking game, but don’t taint the review-sites of my beloved game with your lack of understanding for what this game really is, as it’s more than something that lacks a fucking “Arcade Mode”.

This is and already was my answer:

people getting mad over the direction video games are going itt need to take a time machine back because that horse is beaten and dead. too bad, that’s how the industry is now, capitalism has failed, bla bla.

First of all, I want to say again that I love this game. I sit in Battle lounge having first to 3’s against anyone and everyone for hours. Love the way the game plays. Fantastic fighting here.

Second, to all the people defending the state the game is/was in during launch, I have a challenge for you. Street Fighter is one of the big name franchises in the fighting game genre, so amongst the following titles:

Mortal Kombat
Virtua Fighter
Dead or Alive
Tekken
Soul Calibur

I want you to find, over the last 15-20 years of releases, one single entry in any of the above titles that didn’t have the following modes:

Arcade and/or Story Mode
Time Attack
Survival
Training

Arcade releases don’t count, just home console/PC versions of the game, since I know some assclown is going to instantly name the Arcade cab as an answer.

…can’t find a single one that doesn’t have all of those modes? B-I-N-G-O. All were full priced retail games, all had those modes. The vast majority of the fighting game genre’s playerbase has long since come to expect these absolute basic features upon paying full price. For fucks sake, Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown was a $15 PSN/XBLA download and it had all that, in addition to working online day one and massive character customizations.

No excuses for this piss poor launch. All the bad comments directed at Capcom is deserved. They tried to have their cake and eat it too. Gamers said “Eennope.”

Stop defending this. Just stop.

Also, to whomever said Survival Mode is Arcade Mode…your a blithering idiot.

Now, I’m going back to kicking people’s ass with Chun.

They can’t give away free shit, they’ve stuck themselves between a rock and a hard place because this is the " plan". You can’t apologise for a new vision you’ve been spouting since day one since that makes you look worse.

Best way to deal with this is simple, since we don’t know what was planned they can change things. For example - First DLC character is half the usual fight money, battle lounge has a region filter, colours can be unlocked with fight money. I doubt they can slash the load times, but personally if putting a simple static portrait VS screen ( how about an option to do that in the menu?) saves 30 seconds then I’m down for it.

This can be all part of the " plan"

Make the game free to play in twelve months and just abandon the 60 dollar disk market entirely.

Right now there is literally nothing they can do to right this ship other than prepare for a f2p future.

That would be a tremendous insult to those that paid 60 dollars.
