Street Fighter V sales thread... Serious discussion please

I don’t want to start another topic so I want to open a related subject.

What do you guys Capcom should do to win back the public goodwill they just lost?

The most obvious one is a patch this month that addresses the big stuff missing (Arcade mode with bonus stages, online store, battle lounge, fixes, etc.), but I think Capcom needs to GIFT players something. It’s not enough to address stuff, they should give something away.

Some free fight money wouldn’t be bad.

Damage is already mostly done where a gift won’t do much. Rolling out content and fixing the glitches is the best gift they’re going to give. The casuals don’t want gifts, they want content and modes that stop having malfunctions.

Honestly, a great way to earn goodwill would be a demo version of the game that lets you play as Ryu or Chun-Li and fight against the players that have the game. it would VASTLY increase the player pool and often convince people to convert to full purchasers

I watched on ScrewAttack that one of the suggestions was to reward the loyal players who have bought and purchased the game since Day 1.
it’s really hard to figure out what that would be, since all the content is going to be for “free” anyways that a reward system wouldn’t feel valuable.

Maybe an early access to the full story mode before it’s released? Instead of waiting until June, those who bought the game before hand would be rewarded by playing the story mode first over those who decided to wait.

other than that, just provide us with an arcade mode, challenge mode, trials mode, and ALL the stuff that you could’ve released on Day 1 instead of having us wait weeks later for it

Oh, and I guess an apology for a lack of stuff wouldn’t hurt also.

That’s really the way they should have released the game. At least have some type of option for someone who doesn’t want to make any initial investment.

I think Capcom corporate just butted in and said we also need discs on the shelves. Knowing they wouldn’t have the content to make it worth it for casuals

Time just spent looking for a ranked opponent and loading into the fight 2 minutes 47 seconds

Time spent actually playing against someone before I had to search again 1 minute 04 seconds

That’s the kind of shit that needs to get fixed too.

Solid content right from the start i think is the only way.
They can just gif a bunch of points, but to me the most important thing is that the content is steady from the start.
Alex i think is really important, with him we will see how this new formula for characters will work.
And what a char to start with, the first from third strike… they can very well ruin his style.

Just saw the Amazon reviews :disappointed:

Damn…

Those content woes

It’s okay, those are self-entitled casuals. They don’t matter.

I remember making a 'What can SF learn from MKX" thread and stressed the importance of marketing and content, especially single player content in this day and age. I was met with a fuckton of disagreement. SF doesn’t need that they said… Well look who’s laughing now!? That’s right, NOBODY. We all lose!

I’m sick of all this complaining.

If the game was delayed then it would be a worse-off situation because the majority of us who are not stuck-up pricks are already thoroughly enjoying the game.

I think the complainers need to do some soul-searching, and reevaluate their “lack of solo-content”-moaning.

They’ve been shitting like dogs on a walk across town all over the review-sites, with their petty complaints of solo-content on a freaking multiplayer-game.

If they want to compare the content of SFV to MKX or Halo, then they should do it under a bridge over an open fire with hobos and other delinquents.

This is an absolutely beautiful quality game in every respect, and their lousy attitudes have ruined its reception.

The problem is with the “angry gamers”.

To just quote myself; “If the game was delayed then it would be a worse-off situation because the majority of us who are not stuck-up pricks are already thoroughly enjoying the game.”

This is an indisputable fact. There are thousands of players online. As for those who left negative reviews, they would most likely not get any good at the game at any rate, or they’d be rage-quitters anyway. You could say they already rage-quit after like 2 days. How much more moronic can someone get?

The problem lies with the “angry gamers” and not with SFV.

What is a SF-game, afterall? It’s a competitive game. Sure, something like SFA3 had a good chunk of single player-content, but that was way back in 1998, when the console wasn’t even connected to the internet, so people who wanted to play but didn’t have peers to play against had to play alone. This is 2016, there is freaking cross-platform play, and more content coming in summer rather than in spring along with its launch, and yet everybody’s getting their panties in a twist, as they say.

These “angry gamers” have no case, if you ask me, and they are just flat-out idiots.

Fucking, fucking idiots who are tainting the reputation of a game that I have a lot of love and respect and praise for.

What I think Capcom really needs to do is

  1. To everyone who bought the game - give Season 1 pass.
  2. To everyone who bought Season 1 pass - give Season 2 pass.
  3. Make the game Free to Play
  4. Continue with support, balance patches, ect.

What this will do is make it easier for players to check out the game. Right now a bad review is certainly standing between many people and spending $60. If it were free, many may still say “Hey, they released story mode now, I’ll check that out.”

Rely on the F2P model. It’s working really well for League of Legends, and many other games right now. For what I understand of Capcom’s plans for SF5, it fits the F2P mold quite well.

It still doesn’t need it. Everything we need to last 6 years is basically here, just not with the sea of casuals and initial sales people would have wanted. Nearly 4000 people showing up for SF at Evo shows a general at least cult/hardcore interest and ability to keep the game going in the way that KI has.

KI doesn’t have the hella casual grab either and is similarly bare bones for single player content, but its still going.

I remember that thread, I think I suggested a story mode like mkx along with a bio/backstory feature under a gallery mode or something of that nature. Since it’s a Street Fighter game, I wasn’t too surprised at the lack of a good story mode (so far) but I never imagined that they’d completely scrap arcade mode. That’s the first thing newbies hop into to figure out mechanics and get some insight on the characters motives for even fighting.

I could rant forever, but the gist is that Street Fighter V completely screwed everybody over in terms of single player.

I get where you’re coming from, but Capcom still needs to make a profit per game. The dlc might bring some money in and all, but making the game completely free to play and giving out whole season passes for free just isn’t viable from a business standpoint imo. A free character and maybe some colors would make more sense

The problem is that they fucked up the model as well as the release.

60$ game with F2P model is doable maybe for call of duty and some other major games but they are overestimating their reach. And COD despite being a game I dislike does not lack in content at all for example.

This game should have at least a version that is free to play where you have like 4 characters that change every month or so for the new players. These player can get to our level of content by paying by character or buying the game.

Player also have absolutly nothing to learn. Matchmaking is decent tho and I feel I get people around my level.

At release servers were dead like in any game at release but in SFV there is nothing enjoyable to do for someone not hardcore (so someone who will not go to training) if the servers are out, this finished to kill them since it kinda made a combo of no content + no online.

For a competitive game it is also really barebone, there is nothing showing hitboxes, frame data or anything. The training mode is good that’s it.

Honestly I like this game a lot and I have already spent 100+ hours on it but I don’t understand how they used their money. Some of the stuff in SFV is worse than it was in SFIV or just missing. Biggest “WTF IS THIS SHIT” is really the battle lounge invite system. I want to invite a friend via steam, what kind of bullshit wizzardry I have to do to invite someone if I don’t have them yet on my CFN?

You are wrong.

  1. There is a story-mode; use your eyes!!!
  2. Arcade-mode is Survival-mode - or is everybody retarded?

What the hell is going on here?

Is there a conspiracy against SFV going on?!?

To date people still get random disconnects and teleporting opponents. It’s not as bad as before but… If you’re going to release a game with limited features you want to make sure those limited features at least function properly

Somebody here is…
Story mode: Shit. (So far) Who would check out a game for that? Seriously. That joke was terrible.
Survival: (huge surprise incoming)is fucking survival. :astonished: Arcade mode is 8-10 stages w/ a boss fight and at the very least an outro. Name one fighter in the last ten years that doesn’t apply for. You can’t even set a difficulty to play through it without bumping your fight count up to 30-100. Not to mention that the character order never changes.
You can portend it’s arcade if you want, but it’s not. Plain and simple.

Obvious troll is obvious. This guy is the type of person that would say the game has versus if they removed versus mode and you had to set the training dummy to player 2 to play against a friend.

Damn that one got me ._. Assuming he was trolling of course
