Street Fighter V Lounge "We on South Central crack addict status"

Option 2 looks better when the camera is zoomed out and the screen is ‘fight ready’. Option 1 looks better close up.

I choose Option 2 because this is a fighting game and in every SF game, characters ‘pop’ to be better discern what’s going on.

I will concede though that the color saturation is too high and needs to be lowered just a bit.

Why is that a problem?

Probably because he absolutely hates eventhubs and doesn’t want to increase their search engine hits to potentially increase their traffic. IMO a bit of an overreaction but w/e.

I think the best thing is to strike a middle ground between the lighting options. I like the old darker lighting better than the new one, but the characters stand out better in the new one. So perhaps there’s a middle ground they can strike.

Also, I strongly prefer Chun’s old face structure compared to the new one. Her face is just too puffy in the new one, like she got botox injections or something. Actually, that may be what they were going for seeing as she’s getting older. Maybe she did get some botched botox job.

Everyone’s aloud one Kanye West moment.

I say it in advance,i’m not fan of recent art direction change

but

Tbh that pic is also kinda misleading, watching the actual video Chun Look way more acceptable during the fight with Charlie, maybe the frame where the pic was taken was in some weird point of the stage, with strange lights/angle

Skin is less red-pink and look more natural, yellows of the costume seem less acid

i did a quick photoshop about how that pic will be more harmonic and piss less in my eyes

If i have to be honest ingame during the video Chun look more like my edit than that strange pic

Let’s be clear, after SF4 i’m the first that fear theyr ability to destroy potentially good art direction with color aberrations (lol, Ken was like “please kill me”), low quality elements (please no more terrible vs artworks), weak/washed up image/color/lightning and some straight ugly stuff on 3D model and in 7 years they never give fucks to fix

In SF4 they showed the ability to create amazing visual stuff, but also to give a free pass to exist (and never be fixed) to some straight horrible shit

But if you stop being objective your critique is useless, that pic is indeed misleading

Off topic, but have you actually tried to check all the things that Ehubs is running on their site. It used to crash some peoples browsers before.

Also, Catalyst is just as delusional as TriForce and still claims that we’re stealing his shit.

One thing to keep in mind with all this colour/lighting jabber is that it’s possibly a side effect of the stage lighting also. Keep in mind that IV’s volcano stage exhibits similar colour fuckery, moreso in vanilla too. It would perhaps be like us only having footage of the volcano stage in IV and focusing on how red/orange tinged character models appear in that game. Just a thought.

It’s possible they are twiddling with stage lighting (and in doing so, the light it casts on models) which is evident when you look at the stage on this own in the latest promo video compared with those that came before.

Oddly, the stage itself seems to lean more towards a greenish tinge though. Perhaps future videos feature a new stage that would work well as a basis of comparison.

Is what i’m saying
If SF4 is an indicator, the visual impact of the same character can change a lot from stage X to stage Y

For this reason i’m reluctant give a judgment based on a green-dark stage with neons, that transition into a kinda dark orange-illuminated interior

But to be fair that’s kinda theyr fault on chose wich stage show
I’m sure is one of the most cool looking, and one that can represent some new features (bowl head, bus, door crushing stage transition), but as graphical showcase probably something more sunny/neutral was more reliable to get a fair judgment

On the other hand after SF4 imho they lost the benefit of the doubt, on the visual side they really fucked up a lot of colors/lightning/3D model at begin, and for whatever reason (read do stuff cost $$$) most of ugly stuff never got fixed

So i see the truth kinda in the middle, they’re getting judged probably too soon and too harsh, but the skepticism is far from gratuitous or baseless

On the visual side last stuff i’ve seen from Capcom about SF was being happy to give us (washed up version of) recycled stages from SFxTK, give Udon the job of do shitty summer pack instead use the awesome unused sketches from capcom chara designers, and the furry pack. Yes, theyr last exercise of style after 7 years of SF4 was the fucking furry pack.

Call me cynical but as now they’re guilty until proven innocent

Very true.

Again, this is all just early discussions because this is all we have to work with for time being. I by no means think what they are showing is 100% the final product or anything.

I easily prefer the art style in the second trailer, both for the already mentioned gameplay reason and due to personal taste(I prefer stronger colors and a less “gritty” artstyle in general). Also, they toned down the particle effects and bloom from the first trailer, and thank god for that, because that shit fucking hurt my eyes.

That being said, I get why people are voicing concerns about how ugly SF4 could get at its worst. Especially since SFxT was even uglier than that at its best.

Man, who remembers the glowing neon latex shit?

Lol, smells like personal grudge to me. No offence, but that DoNotLink thing is a bit childish and out of spite. Let’s keep our quarrels out of here, please.

I was seriously disappointed when I saw that color comparison pic. It makes it look more like SF4 which is beyond horrible. I understand the gameplay reasons for it, but is there not a way to make the characters pop out while keeping the original tone/color? There has to be.

Eventhubs is actually awful.

Anyway, I wonder how regularly we’ll be seeing updates about sf5.

Doesn’t seem to be that often so far compare to something like MKX, but maybe Capcom will pick up momentum for releasing information within the next month or two or at least after a beta gets released.

The frequency of updates depends largely on the release window I imagine.

Oh really? So what makes you say the beta is releasing in the next month or two, instead of late 2015 (October, November, or December) like I think it is, just curious.

I didn’t say the beta was going to be released in a month or two. I said maybe they’ll pick up momentum on releasing information within a month or two. If they don’t, then I’d at least expect a good amount of info to come to light after a beta becomes available instead… whether it’s from them or the players testing it.

Oh, okay.
