Street Fighter V Lounge "We on South Central crack addict status"

While i laughed at peoples wanting SFV to look like GGxrd, Darkstalkers cast will look awesome with that style (and actual Capcom-good animations)

It’s not just the animations though, character personalities mesh well (lots of weirdos in both casts) and more importantly think about how the gameplay styles overlap. Constant rushdown, chain combos, emphasis on mobility types both ground and air. They’d mesh well.

With how SF5 is being paced it’d be interesting to see Capcom and Arcsys work together on a faster speed FG that isn’t a “Versus” series type of crazy triangle dasher near infinites (or actual infinites), long air combos, full screen beam supers and assists filling the screen but rather a game that still kind of feels Street Fighter-y in gameplay and pacing but sped up a bit with more mobility options.

Of course some of that could be moved to SF5… specifically SPEEDING IT UP.

I personally wouldn’t want to see capcom vs SNK with the current capcom behind it. Late 90s and early 2000s capcom sure, but MVC3 and SFXT capcom…no way.

The main thing I’m worried about is losing a bunch of features from ultra and starting over. Like if the training mode sucks and there are no replays in the beginning, and then we have just hope for that stuff rather than getting something innovative.

SF is so terrible when it comes to quality of life features.

The problem with this kind of thing in a fighting game is that the game itself is best played offline and that not everyone who is good actually gets ranked online.

I don’t think Capcom can get away with doing this again, with all of the features that are in KI, GGXRD, and MKX.

But then again, the Capcom fanboys would buy dog shit if it had the Capcom logo on it, so who knows.

Kens been in SF since SF1.
No way he wont make the roster.
cuz tradition.
and cuz the Japanese are superstitious.

if SF5 bombs they’d blame it on Ken not being in the roster and breaking said superstitious tradition.
just sayin.

that said I don’t think Sagat will make it. Sagat has been in every SF cept SF3. he’s gonna get cut. imo.

SF3 bombed. Ken was in that, but Sagat was not. Soooooo Sagat has to be in SF5.

Where Bison goes, the Shadaloo Kings aren’t far behind. I expect to see Sagat or Vega at least. And why not? They are one of the most popular and unique designs and gameplay styles. I’ll take them over Ken or Akuma any day of the week.

As much as I agree with that sentiment, I just don’t see how Ken won’t be in this. It’s going to be hella weird for him to be in 4, not in 5, but in 3. Paternity leave?

I find the problem with ranked in KI right now, is it isn’t character dependent, and doesn’t reward learning new characters. You pretty much HAVE to use a character you are familiar with, to rank high. Learning a new character, I always lose a lot of rank early on, before regaining it.

Could be, but we could be seeing the beginning of the demise of Shadaloo with the Kings disbanding, so it could just be Bison. Sagat has redeemed himself and isn’t part of Shadaloo anymore. If Shadaloo has fallen, I don’t really see Vega sticking around, unless he’s the last “bodyguard” to Bison since Balrog ain’t sticking around unless there’s money and power to be had. This is all theory though.

I don’t know about this. UMVC3 didn’t sell well and i don’t know if SFXT sold as well as capcom wanted.

MVC3 sold well, i mean, a game with Marvel comic book heroes and Capcom heroes going at it, will always sell well. I think Capcom releasing ultimate less than a year later had a lot to do with it, casuals didn’t take the bait, even some competitive fighting game players didn’t take the bait. When i played vanilla marvel at a friends house day 1, we already knew Wesker was top tier, and that phoenix was cheap. The game felt super incomplete, and didn’t feel like it lived up to being “Mahvel”, we all called it that an update was coming, but what we didn’t know was that it was coming out in less than a year. >.>

SFxT sold below expectations, but didn’t sell bad though. The only reason it didn’t sell well was cause of the FGC’s early hate for it, our hate was strong, even casuals caught on with a placebo effect and quickly dropped it from their little casual wishlist.

Yeah, MK X and Killer Instinct seem to be true next generation titles, notice how i didn’t include Xrd. (cough* overhyped + shitty netcode, cough*) O_O

rant:
Can we stop calling it “next gen”? PS4 came out almost a year and a half ago.

I think the reason why Ken isn’t revealed upto this point is maybe that Capcom is still working out on his gameplay and stuffs and figuring how to different him enough from Ryu, like Reeeeally Enough

Good theory. But Shadaloo has pretty much fallen by SF4, publicly speaking. Also any betrayal or abandonment would’ve already taken place and have been anticipated to some extent by Bison (for example, he knew Seth would go rogue and let him, only intervening after Seth/Juri kidnapped the Dolls). I think of the 3, Vega is the only one likely to remain loyal and only because his beauty is what’s at stake, so he would be the most likely to return with Bison wherever. Balrog already chose money over Shadaloo at the end of SF4, and Sagat chose his honor and pride. There could also be NEW Shadaloo bosses this time around to replace the ones that left.

I want to see both Bison and Gill as bosses in the 1P mode and maybe some other boss-mode characters (Juri?), but maybe you only fight them under certain conditions a la the Boss versions of Akuma/Gouken/Oni/E. Ryu.

Edit: Or like in SF Alpha where whatever character you pick determines the last character you fight EXCEPT it’ll be a boss version (like a straight up powered up version of Ryu if he’s your last fight).

I think you mean Samurai Showdown x Soul Calibur!

I’ve always loved this idea, and one of the reasons Alpha 2 is my favorite SF. Every character (for the most part) had a different last boss character they fought. I believe regardless everyone fought Bison by default, but he wasn’t necessarily everyone’s last boss to fight. I’d love for SFV to go back to that, where Charlie may have to fight either Bison or (if prayers answered), maybe Urien at his story’s end.
