Street Fighter V Lounge "We on South Central crack addict status"

One positive of the “new” graphics are the heightened detail in the faces. The one thing that bothered me ever since I saw the first trailer is that chun li’s face (left side) is always blurred in the screenshots and in motion; almost like the face was made out of clay–I think that was in large part due to insufficient lighting. The Ryu model, I thought, looked great–nice and large. But the characters did appear “washed out”
.
Now I can definitely appreciate the characters don’t blend in as much. As a personal choice, I’m not a fan of too much of the “cartoony” style as we’ve seen that in our faces since 2008…I REALLY liked how that original trailer made everything a bit more serious and a little less El Fuerte. I never played SF3 when it came out but going back to it, man that graphical/art style was sick. It looked phenomenal for its day. this is the influence that I loved about the first few trailers. The characters looked like real people about to brawl in a way I hadnt seen before; but maybe that’s a niche better occupied by Tekken?
.

At the end of the day, I’ll buy this game no matter what and there’s a 99.9% chance that will fix whatever graphical quibbles we have in the next 12 months of development (I hope)
.
That being said, the “natural” look of the first trailer combined with better lighting, and vibrant backgrounds would be sweet if they could pull it off.
.

The new style looks far tidier from a gameplay perspective than the first one. They drastically toned down the amount of bloom and particle effects(which was fucking terrible in the first version, ugh), gave the game a clearer color scheme, and characters stand out better from the backgrounds. How exactly are these things “trashy design decisions”?

There’s a poster on Neo GAF, who is a mod-approved leaker, potentially hinting Ken may not be in SF5. His post was very cryptic in nature but now everyone on GAF is freaking out, lol. I can’t imagine Ken not being in but I figured I’d post it just because.

Given how different the development team are willing to change how characters play, I’m glad there is a change Ken won’t be in the game. Ken is one of those characters where players tend to get mad over if they change him too much from his template.

If Akuma gets in and Ken doesn’t folks are gonna riot.

Kind Sir, a link to that thread ?

I’m not sure if I’ll agree with the “leaker” right now, because if no other shotos are in this game, Ken is the one who should be. Ryu is the mascot character of SF, so that’s obvious, but regardless, I’d debate that Ken is waaaaaaaaay more used than Ryu is. Players expect Ryu in new SF games, but they use Ken arguably 10x more than Ryu. To put Akuma in over Ken, that makes no sense.

Personally, I think Ken will show, but as I said, maybe not in Vanilla SFV. I’m more than okay if Sean makes it in Ken’s stead for now, so long as he plays well (all theory, mind you). I’d rather the game start with Ryu/Ken, or Ryu/Sean first, instead of Ryu/Akuma, and my vote is for Ryu/Sean. Then for a later update to SFV can come Ken/Akuma. But no Ken at all?..silly.

I wouldn’t be surprised, nor really be affected if Ken is not in. Taking story into consideration, this is after SF4, before SF3, so Ken is probably busy with his kid. Also, add to the fact that they said they want each character to be different so it would make sense. Especially if they do plan to start with around 16 characters.

Let 'em, one of these shoto-tards can stand to be absent for once or at the least be relegated to DLC furtherdown the road. Let’s see some fresh faces rendered in 3D first and foremost.

Tekken has gone to utter crap with 7. HP bars being customizable sounds like a ploy to keep you distracted from how bad the game actually is.

See, and this is kinda what I wish Capcom would be more clear on. The statement of “each character to be different” could mean a number of things:

  1. We want each character to look as different as possible. Meaning less palette swap.
  2. We want each character to play differently from each other. (obviously)
  3. We want each character to play differently than they have before.

There are a number of other possibilities that I can’t think of at the moment, but if these 3 are in play, then to me, 2 & 3 are the more logical ones. After all, Chun-Li and Charlie look like they play differently than they have before.

If #1 is in play, then if any other shotos are in, then they will probably use (as I affectionately call it) “the Dan treatment.” Meaning, they will show the same love to other characters as they did to Dan in SF4, which is change their costume more, give them a different battle stance, and different animations – almost reworking them from the ground up.

They can both sit this one out, it would be for the best.

Keep in mind that often Verendus like to troll using truth

To put things in perspective from what i rememeber he was the first to hint at the possibility of SFV (console) exclusive, dude definitely know his shit and proven it many times
Also consider that Neogaf have really hard rules on “insiders”, they have to pm mods theyr sources or GTFO
Verendus IS legit

If he keep joke on Ken not being in, is possible that simply Ken does’nt make it because capcom maybe chosen to keep him as incentive to buy the first wave of DLC characters (basically almost impossible that Ken is not in, but possible him not being in “vanilla SFV”)

Drink the tears of all kids that see Ken out of starting cast seem the kind of thing that will amuse him

This wouldn’t surprise me at all. If we’re getting 16 characters at launch, they’re not gonna have 2-3 shotos. Ken’s busy being a daddy, Mel was just born (if this takes place after 4). I think they are saving Ken, he’ll probably lead the cast of the first SF5 update.

Catching up on my FGC news for the week - Capcom DO THIS!

It’s very similar to what Blizzard does over battle.net with StarCraft and COD’s Elite Leagues
It’d be better if it were 2/3 for everyone not just top 32, but hey this idea is very welcome in my book.

Can’t wait to hear about SFV’s online features.

Since MKX, SF5, and T7 are out/coming out, I see that all 3 of those games have similar graphics and sometimes similar gameplay. It would be cool to see an SFxTxMK game. Yes, all 3 franchises in 1 game to make the supreme fighting game of all time!

Please… No…

Capcom vs SNK 3
Dead Or AliveXVirtua Fighter (They already have guest VF characters in DOA5LR, they fit in perfectly)
DoAxTekken
BlazblueXGuiltyGear

Now those make sense, especially DOAXVirtuaFighter, and i’m not even a fan of VF.

Im still waiting on “Darkstalkers x Soul Calibur”.

Plz don’t speak of such blissfully wondrous things that will never happen.

I’d like to see Darkstalkers X Guilty Gear.

Im still waiting a Soul Calibur that don’t shit on once glorious Soul Calibur name
Problem is i’ve no more faith in Namco
