But mark my words on the whole PS4 exclusive discussion
About a month or 6 after SF5 vanilla launch, Capcom will announce Super SF5/SF5 turbo/whatever.
Which will obviously also be avaliable on Xbone etc.
Sony just has a timed console excusive (if it were a true sony exclusive this game wouldn’t be coming to pc)
On a personal note, not much hype for me so far with SF5.
Capcom has a lot to prove these days (I didnt like SF4 compared the it’s earlier sequels and not to mention the drama that was SFxT), they haven’t made a decent real new installment to any of their IP’s (or a new IP for that matter) in years.
Unless you are good at the game, you get blown the fuck up for free for trying to parry shit. Parries are a reward for patience, spacing, matchup knowledge and an ability to read your opponent. If you are just trying to parry shit for no reason and look dope you are gonna have a bad time.
I don’t mind the visual direction Capcom is going with in SFV. That just means they can spend less time on developing existing characters and just add a few touch ups, and more time on new characters, and new gameplay mechanics. However I must say that if Capcom doesn’t add the entire SFIV roster, when all they literally have to do is copy pasta then touch up, then they will be receiving none of my hard earned money.
SFIV has outlived it’s purpose and it’s time to move on. They revived a dying genera, helped newer players feel accustomed to fighting games through lenient inputs, and gave players a comeback mechanic. It’s time to nip that shit it the butt now with SFV. These are what I hope SFV’s direction will be:
Removal of short cuts/lenient inputs
Tightened reversal window
Multiple super meters (Obviously with restrictions)
A multitude of new gameplay mechanics (Lets face it SFIV’s mechanics are rather simple and dry)
A faster paced game
Older mechanics brought back to the forefront (Guard Gauge, CC’s, Alpha Counters, etc)
A plethora of ways to utilize super meter
The addition of indestructible from vanilla
All of the cast from 3S (Including Gill)
All of the characters from Alpha (Yes even Ingrid)
Hit boxes/Hurtboxes THAT FUCKING MAKE SENSE!
I literally have a laundry list of shit they need to do for SFV, but this simple list will suffice for now. Capcom better pull all the stops with this game. Let’s see if they can deliver.
I hope Capcom keeps it grounded on what made the SF series popular: its fundamentals. No crazy Omega Mode stuff. A new game mechanic would be cool, but not if it’s anything like Pandora Mode. Also, keep the graphics in SF bright and NOT realistic. Realistic graphics would honestly strip away a lot of what makes SF so special.
I’d love to see parries return in SF5. I started on SF4, with the focus attacking, and it’s a cool thing, but when I bought 3SOE, I saw the usefulness of parries over focuses.
There’s also a balance that can be struck between catering to casuals and catering to the more hardcore side. I’d suggest taking out lenient inputs, personally.
Also, can anyone confirm exactly what Ryu said in the trailer as he threw what is clearly a denjin hadouken? I’ve got multiple people on facebook calling it a shinku hadouken, and blasting me when I mentioned the lightning. Because no matter what, even if Ryu screamed “Shinku Hadouken,” he’s throwing a Denjin Hadouken.
you’re probably not aware but the SF4 model is the same model that’s been tried and true for them for 25 years. 4 or 5 iterations of SF2, 3 iterations of alpha, 3 iterations of SF3, 4 or so iterations of SF4. every couple of years they come out with something slightly new. that’s not a gimmick it’s good business and keeps hardcore fighting people from getting bored. The sf4 model was good bc all the upgrades were relatively cheap, and pricing was fair.
but sure, how dare they make money by charging decent prices for minor upgrades, those scoundrels.
It looks uber fresh. Though I was hoping that the next SF wouldn’t be V. But maybe a side title. Maybe a CvS3 (Capcom vs SNK 3) done in the art style of KOFXIII. But that’s cool. V will be cool. Me and Bis will rip s*** up either way.
THEY BETTER CHANGE THEY OUTFITS. SAME OUTFITS FOR LIKE 1000000 YEARS. SF SUCKS. PUT CHUN LI IN SOME PANTS. OR a POLICE OUTFIT OR SOMETHING. NOT THAT BLUE SHIT THAT NO ONE WEARS walking DOWN THE STREET.
STREET FIGHTER IS FOR TEENAGERS I SWEAR. WHAT THE HELL IS THEY DOING WALKIN DOWN THE STREET IN GI’s AND BLUE LINK OCARINA OF TIME TUNICS AND ISH. SO CORNY
it’s free in the sense that it doesn’t require resources to perform
This is exactly what i’m saying , i know is timing specific and etc.
I’m not against parries but there’s good amount people don’t like to see it. All trying to say is make it like 3s but slightly more balance it’s better than having no Parries at all. This is just my opinion, I’m fine either way.
And it also just hit me that SF2 came out in 92. 92!!! AND THEY STILL IN THE SAME OUTFITS. SOOOO GROSSSSssssssssss. Make it like a special option choice. Or Downloadable content. Not the same freaking outfits. Im so pissed.
