Street Fighter V Lounge "We on South Central crack addict status"

If that happens, then I guess “where’s Charlie” is gonna end up being a meme of some sorts.

I hope Rachid is not going to be a regular shoto.

Maybe some kind of grappler ?

Rachid is from Africa.

His fighting style is Limbo and his super is coughing on you.

You missed the stance switch archetype à la Gen, or would that be listed under no chance to be in the game?

Seems like counter hits will be a huge factor in this game.

As far as characters, give me urien, and Alex and we good Q or oro as a bonus, and I actually wouldn’t mind Sean.

How the f are the names Rachid, Laura, or Zen any cheesier than mother fuckers with random names like Guile, Vega (Japanese Dictator) or Gill?

IMO I don’t see Gen in SF5, at least not in the initial roster. He’s an interesting character with a unique gameplay but his stances also mean twice as much moves and animations to create. And story wise the dude is supposed to be terminally ill since Alpha, I doubt Capcom would bring him back in a game near SF3 time period. But hell who knows, maybe in future DLC!

Imho

  • Rachid -> North Africa -> no idea just please be not a shoto

  • Zen -> India -> a meditation char from there? Sorry Dhalsim sound like you got replaced

  • Laura -> Brazil -> Interessing double possibility: i can see it being Capoeira fighter (in that chase they will take a lot of inspiration from Elena), or a Vale Tudo aggressive striker/grappler(Brazilian JuJitsu) mix.
Hopefully PS4 is powerful enough to achieve a perfect brazilian goddess ass

Since Charlie is in, Guile will be too.

but probably not in the start cast

zen is a japanese word how a indian nigga gonna be named zen

rachid should be rakheem

v-trigger is obv the name of the kog98 power up mode shit we saw

This.

“Zen” is a famous branch of Buddhism, India is much into Buddhism, so “Zen” his/her name sounds stupid. It would be the equivalent of naming “Samurai” a Japanese character.

Rachid doesn’t sound African at all, sounds like a name they made up within seconds.

Laura, such a cookie cutter name.

Can’t take this seriously.

Also, there’s already an Indian character (Dhalsim), a couple Brazilian characters (Blanka and Sean, IIRC) and a very recent African character (Elena), are they planning to replace them with new ones? OK, I think Blanka and Dhalsim should leave the series, so who knows.

Gen doesn’t really have significantly more moves than the rest of the cast, that’s a bit of a misconception. He doesn’t have command and “close” type moves, which goes a long way toward pulling him back near the average move count. V-trigger across two different stances could be an especially interesting mechanic.

As far as storyline goes, it isn’t that crazy to include him. The storyline only progresses a few years, ancient master archetypes tend to avoid actually dying almost by definition, and there are probably a half dozen or more plausible explanations they could use to belay his death or cure him completely if they chose to.

All that said, I’m not confident he gets in the game. He has established storyline hooks to some of the very most popular characters, and he is mechanically one of the most interesting characters in Street Fighter cannon, but for whatever reason he’s never really been popular. Maybe his moves just aren’t flashy enough?

So rumor is only 4 new chars, really? I hope they alter some looks of returning chars… Like Sakura for example if she makes it. I really have no interest in majority of SF3 cast. Fuck Urien and Gill, they are one of the lamest char designs and Urien was only cool because of his playstyle.

I think Alpha 2 had a perfect balance of returning SF2 chars. They should keep it like that and the rest should be SF3/new chars.

im just hyped there’s no more FAs.

made my day.

I only disagree with this because, for better or worse, some of these characters could make it in and their storylines could match up. That’s why I added a few of them on the list I posted on page 15.

Rufus could be in because of his rivalry (albeit disillusioned) with Ken – people have been added to SF for worse reasons. coughmycargotstolenDudleycough :unamused: Also, people wanna say that they “hate” Rufus, but despite Abel being the main character in SF4, Rufus overshadowed him in popularity. Quite frankly, I’d rather have Rufus than Yun/Yang, though yes, they’re more popular, their storylines are done, unless they are just gonna keep stalking Chun-Li.

Despite that, I still say Abel could make it in as there’s speculation he makes a reference to either Charlie or Remy when he meets Guile; something about “seeing moves like his” somewhere before.

Dan could make it in later on, but not in the Vanilla version.

I would love love LOVE it if they took an idea I came up with about adding King Cobra in and have him as a rival to Rufus. His story could be wanting to fight Ken as well, but also going after Rufus for “stealing” his moves (as a reference to Rufus originally being Rufus in the designs). Wouldn’t even mind it if his moves was a swap of Rufus, similar to how they do Yun/Yang, or the shotos.

I think there are some characters that it’s just time to retire for now – most from the SF2 era. I understand reintroducing them in SF4, but this time, it definitely seems we are in the SF3 era.

Rachid is a common name in north africa, in particular from places like morocco and algeria.

Rachid (pronounced Rasheed) is indeed an Arabic name common in the MENA region.

My guess is that Capcom is gonna play it safe with SF5 at first and bring the original World Warriors, at least the ones that would make sense story wise, since we don’t entirely know if this is a sequel to SF3 or a prequel to it, and if it’s even in the same timeline, maybe introduce a few newbies, and then go with bringing back the rest of the cast, maybe based on some public polls and such

I think sakura might make it to this tournament. I believe in sf3 she was not in the tournament because she missed. Btw I hope characters like sakura, and Karin get updated looks to show they have aged.
